Looking for home workouts for weight loss? Yes, there really is such a thing. Although the most important component of successful weight loss is a reduced calorie intake, what some people find is that after an initial period of weight loss, they plateau and aren't losing any more weight despite being careful with how much they eat.
This can happen when a reduced calorie intake is accompanied by inactivity. Remember: your body will always lose muscle first, fat last. If you want to lose excess fat while maintaining a healthy muscle mass, you need to keep active. These home workouts are easy to do at home and will deliver body toning alongside your weight loss goals.

Weight lifting is a form of resistance training that can be very beneficial for overall body toning and fat loss. It also has the added benefit of giving you the ability to build muscle where you want it. Check out our buyer's guide to the best dumbbells and YouTube weight lifting workouts.
Yoga may seem like a gentle form of exercise, but it has been proven to aid weight loss if you do it daily for at least 45 minutes each day. Of course, there are forms of yoga that deliver a very intense workout (try Ashtanga, for instance), but there is evidence that it is the regularity that counts more than the intensity.

Like a crossover between a more traditional workout and yoga, pilates has more focus on movement and repeat exercises rather than holding poses, so it's a great home workout for fat loss and toning too. It will appeal to those who want something gentler than a full-on workout, but a bit more energetic than yoga.
High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is a short-burst, intense type of workout that lasts no longer than 20 minutes and uses a combination of jogging on the spot, lunges, squats, and/or push-ups. Not for the faint of heart (literally as well as figuratively), this type of exercise burns up to 30 per cent more calories than other types of exercise. Do be careful with it, though: this is usually a next-level exercise if you've already been running and want to take it up a notch.

Inspired by Latin dance, Zumba is fun (even at home) and easy and burns more calories than yoga. It's a great option if you like to exercise to music (but don't like techno), and want to do something that's enjoyable as well as beneficial. Again, you will see a result only if you stick with it for a gooo couple of months.
