Kim Kardashian West Just Forced Scott Disick To Try One Of Her Vegan Tacos — And Recorded It – Showbiz Cheat Sheet
Posted: February 15, 2020 at 9:42 pm
The Kardashians care a lot about the foods they put into their bodies. Their fans often joke about the number of salads the women eat on the show. But Kim Kardashian West recently told fans she now only eats a plant-based diet, though it seems that Scott Disick wasnt totally on board. And to prove that her familys vegan tacos are actually as good as she says, she made him try some.
Since the Kardashians show premiered back in 2007, theirfame has only grown. And the women have worked hard to keep up their physicalimage in terms of both working out and eating healthy. At this point, theyvetried many different types of diets. Kourtney Kardashian has tried cutting out bothgluten and dairy, and Kardashian West now only eats plant-based foods.
The women have come under fire for promoting different diet trends and products that are not FDA approved, though those posts have become less frequent since the women were called out on their potentially dangerous partnerships.
Kardashian West hasnt always been plant based. Its aswitch she made fairly recently, but having a personal chef most likely helpsher and her kids stick with the diet. Kardashian introduced fans to herpersonal chef, Marina, when she showed off her massive walk-in refrigeratorafter fans gave her heat for posting a photo with a refrigerator that only containedmilk and very few other beverages.
Some fans accused Kardashian West of not feeding her kids once they saw the photo, which prompted her to give a massive tour of her real refrigerator, which was the size of a walk-in closet and contained all different kinds of healthy foods.
Kardashian West has raved about vegan tacos in the past (in fact, they were on the menu the day she gave her refrigerator tour), but there was one person who wasnt convinced: Scott Disick. On Feb. 13, Kardashian finally sat Disick down and forced him to try the tacos and documented it on her Instagram story. The recipe was posted to poosh.com, Kourtney Kardashians website, and was created by Kardashian Wests chef.
On the surface, the tacos looked no different than any othertacos, and Disick had to admit they were much better than he thought theyd be.I would have to say this is one of the best tacos Ive ever had, Disick said. Ittastes real. Kardashian West was definitely thrilled that he was a fan andtold fans to swipe up and find the recipe on her sisters website. The recipecontains Beyond plant-based beef, and many people who are neither vegetariannor vegan love the Beyond products; theyve become a massive trend. Its clearthat Kardashian West has turned Disick, who eats dairy free but isnt a vegan, into a Beyond fan.

You CAN eat takeaway and lose weight the best diet options from pizza to Chinese – The Sun
Posted: February 14, 2020 at 11:46 am
MOST people believe that when you're on a diet a takeaway is well and truly off the cards.
However, a top diet expert has now debunked this myth - and revealed that you can still enjoy a takeaway and stay on track with your weight loss journey.
1
In particular, Terri-Ann Nunns, diet expert and founder of theTerri-Ann123 Diet Plan, says no one should feel as though they're depriving themselves when they're dieting.
She says: "Theres absolutely no reason why you should feel as though you cant enjoy yourself and that you need to miss out when youre dieting.
"Life is short and we all deserve a tasty treat every now and then, as long as its part of a healthy balanced diet.
"Youll actually find that just like most restaurants, many takeaways offer low calorie options that mean you can enjoy a takeaway whilst youre on a diet."
Here, Terri-Ann shares her advice for popular takeaways including items to avoid and items to enjoy...
Pizza is always a popular option for a Saturday night treat especially if youre looking for something the whole family can enjoy and share together.
The good news if you are dieting is that most takeaways now offer low calorie options, such as Pizza Huts new flatbread range.
Avoid deep pan and stuffed crust as they are very dense and carb heavy
The range is all under 650 calories and includes options such as chicken & pepperoni, BBQ steak & chicken and a veggie flatbread.
Dominos are also diet friendly as they have introduced their new Delight Range which has three varieties (Delight Chicken, Veggie or a create your own) that are all under 650 calories when you order the small size.
The main thing to bare in mind when ordering pizza is the base opt for a flatbread or thin and crispy and avoid deep pan and stuffed crust as they are very dense and carb heavy.
Top items to avoid:Deep pan pizzas, stuffed crust, large sizes, red meat heavy toppings, extra cheese
Top items to enjoy: Thin and crispy bases, toppings that are high in vegetables, fish or lean meats
Chinese takeaways offer a range of healthy dishes and can be a great option if youre looking for a low calorie and low fat takeaway.
They have a lot of steamed dishes on the menu including varieties of fish, dumplings and vegetables which are all cooked without oil, meaning the fat content is significantly lower than other dishes.
Stir fries are also a great go to if youre ordering a Chinese as theyre low in fat and packed full of vegetables.
If youre looking for a side avoid anything thats marked as crispy as that means its deep-fried.
Instead, opt for boiled rice or steamed vegetables as a tasty alternative.
Top items to avoid:Battered items such as sweet & sour chicken balls, fried rice and deep fried items such as prawn toast or spring rolls
Top items to enjoy: Steamed or boiled dishes, fish based dishes, soups, and stir fries
When it comes to ordering an Indian, there are some really simple swaps you can make to still get the most of your takeaway treat.
For starters, avoid anything deep fried including onion bjajis or pakoras and opt for tandoori cooked meat, or fish such as prawns, as these will be lighter in fat.
Avoid creamy curries such as a korma and go for a tomato based dish
For mains, avoid creamy curries such as a korma and go for a tomato based dish such as a madras.
The creamy sauces contain lots of hidden calories.
Finally if youre after a side to accompany, swap a naan bread for a chapatti as they are much lower in calories, but still do the same job to dunk in your curry!
Top items to avoid:Creamy curries, starters such as bhajis or pakoras and naan bread
Top items to enjoy:Tandoori-cooked meat, vegetable based curries, plain rice or chapatti
For some its tradition to have a fish & chip supper on a Friday night and that doesnt have to be any different if youre dieting.
Generally speaking, fish is really good for you as its low in fat and high in essential nutrients you just need to be mindful of how you cook it.
Your local chippy is likely to deep fry the fish in batter, so if possible ask for the fish in breadcrumbs as this will reduce the fat content.
Even better, if you have the option to get fish cakes go for those!
Top tips to consider when ordering a takeaway
1. Watch out for dips
There are so many condiments on offer from takeaways, but this is where unwanted calories creep in. Shockingly, the Dominos Garlic & Herb Big Dip contains 675 calories - which is often more than a whole meal can contain! Its best to avoid these creamy based dips, such as mayo and sour cream & chive, as they are often more calorific. If you do like a dressing with your food, opt for BBQ sauce with just 29 calories per tbsp, ketchup which has 19 or sweet chilli sauce which has just 15.
2. Be mindful of your portion size
Often its easy to get carried away when ordering a takeaway, especially when its a treat youve been craving for so long! However, ensure you take your portion sizes into consideration. Most places offer small, medium and large sizes of dishes and if youre looking to keep your calorie intake reduced its wise to opt for a small or medium portion. That way, you still get to have a tasty treat, just with fewer calories.
3. Avoid sauce based dishes
If youre ordering an Indian or a Chinese, try to avoid anything that is heavy in sauce, especially creamy ones. Opt for a dish that mainly consists of meat, such as chicken tikka or tandoori chicken, and steer clear of anything that comes with a sauce as this is often where the hidden calories tend to be.
4. Steer clear of sides
This is where people tend to over order and therefore, overeat. Try to avoid getting side dishes as they can really see your calorie intake pile up. If you do want something to accompany your meal go for a side of grilled vegetables or agree to share one with someone else so that youre less likely to eat the whole dish.
5. Try and avoid a carb slump
Anything thats heavily carb based such as deep pan pizzas, pastas and naan breads are best to avoid. They will leave you feeling bloated and uncomfortable and are also very calorific.
Remember to be mindful of your portion sizes, most will offer an XL portion so try to opt for a small chips or grab a large and share them.
Also try and resist that bread bun to make a chip butty, as it will just result in a carb slump.
Top items to avoid:Jumbo & XL size portions, salt, batter, curry sauce, bread bun
Top items to enjoy: Fish cakes, mushy peas or beans, fish in breadcrumbs, small portions
If youve been for a few drinks on a Saturday your mind is bound to wander to getting a kebab on the way home!
If you do find yourself in this situation, try and make sure you dont get too carried away when ordering. First of all, ensure you only get a small portion that goes for chips and the kebab itself.
Opt for pitta bread with salad and fish or grilled meat as opposed to deep fried items.
Also, watch out for sauces avoid anything creamy such as mayo or garlic sauce and go for chilli or BBQ if you feel you need some.

If You Want to Try an Elimination Diet, Read This First – Outside
Posted: February 14, 2020 at 11:46 am
By nowyouve no doubt watched a friend pare down their diet to a narrow combination of whole foods in an effort to feel better or train harder. Elimination dietswhich include theAutoimmune Protocol,FODMAP,andWhole30, among othershave surged in popularity in recent years.
While there are many different methods and goals, the basic format is the same: limit your diet to the bare essentials (usually some combination of vegetables, fruits, lean meats, and healthy fats), and then slowly add variables back in, tracking how certain foods impact your gut, energy levels, and more. It sounds simple enough, but these diets take a lot of time and effort, make it hard to get adequate fuel for hard training and recovery, and can easily lead to physical stress.
If youre interested in pinpointing foods that stress out your system, you may not need to go all in with an elimination diet. Heres how to decide whether this might be a useful tool for youand what you need to know to do it safely.
Seventy percent of endurance athleteshave at least some gastrointestinal distress while on the move, and an elimination diet might help alleviate associated symptoms. One study found that a low-FODMAP diet, which eliminates bloat-inducing fermentable carbohydrates found in foods like cows milk, onions, and whole-wheat pasta, lessened gut symptoms for 69 percent of runners during high-intensity workouts. Another showed that while elimination diets didnt improve performance, they did improve factors like gut health and even memory.
Kylee Van Horn, an ultrarunner, a registered dietitian, and the owner ofFly Nutrition in Carbondale, Colorado, explains that a properly executed elimination diet is considered the best method for identifying food sensitivities, better than any blood test. Theyre popular among people who are dealing with irritable bowel syndrome, leaky gut, and many autoimmune conditions because they help uncover food intolerances. But plenty of people do them for weight loss or other undefined wellness goals, which arent sustainable objectives, becauseelimination diets arent permanent. Eventually, youll reintroduce most of the foods you cut outyoure just trying to identify the few that cause you intestinal distress.
Before you go all in, think about your current relationship with food: Is eliminating foods going to be triggering for you? As a rule, I dont like elimination diets, because I find that it can disturb peoples relationship with foodsand really give athletes this idea of good and bad foods, says Gemma Sampson, a sports dietitian based in Australia. If you think an elimination diet might negatively influence the way you think about food and your body, dont start.
Van Horn believes that many elimination diets work simply because they take out the obvious culprits, like processed foods and alcohol. So before you start an elimination diet, consider starting with those small shifts for a few weeks, and monitor your symptoms. Easing into eating more whole foods will make the next steps easierand may lead you to skip a full-blown elimination diet entirely. If youre still dealing with gut issues, then it might be time to consider a more restrictive protocol.
Im a huge fan of making small changes that you can sustain in the long term, like cutting down on refined sugars and alcohol, adds Sampson. You wont see results tomorrow, but all those little choices add up.
A restrictive diet can add pressure to what should be a simple, pleasant part of your day: eating. Stress leads to inflammation in the bodywhich may be what youre trying to combat in the first placeandhas been shown to increase a persons risk of disease, ranging from the common cold to autoimmune conditions. So make lifestyle changes to consciously manage it.
Ive found that some athletes need to focus on lowering stress and even cut back on training first to see how it impacts symptoms before turning to diet, says Will Cole,a functional-medicine practitioner who recently wroteThe Inflammation Spectrum. You have to look at sleep, social connections, physical environmentthere are so many other factors. You can eat all the right foods, but if you havent addressed these issues, youre still self-sabotaging.
Timing matters, too. The week before your Ironman and astressful month at work are probably not the best times to alter your meal plan. There will never be a perfect time to do this, but avoid things like the height of your season or a really tough period in your personal life, Cole says.
Van Horn recommends eating normally for two weeks and recording your diet and your symptoms.Once youve done that, take a look toassess if there are obvious food groups that correlate to any uncomfortable side effects. You can choose an elimination diet that closely aligns withthe foods that dont seem to agree with you, or try a mini-elimination diet, eliminating just one food for four to six weeks that seems to be causing issues.
If, after keeping a food journal and eliminating obvious culprits, you still feel the need to adopt a more regimented program, Van Horn and Sampson both recommend you consult a registered dietitian to offer guidance in choosing a plan and for advice following it if youll betraining. Whole30 and theAutoimmune Protocol are popular, as is the low-FODMAP diet. Van Horn recommends the low-FODMAP diet most frequently, but she notes that its also one of the hardest elimination diets to try, because the class of carbohydrate that it eliminates includes a lot of fruits and vegetables (even broccoli!) as well as gluten, processed sugars, and dairy.
Elimination diets like FODMAP are intense and hard to handle while training, Van Horn says. She recommends that you work with your dietitian to develop an adequate meal plan. Your number-one priority is getting enough calories, and it can be hard to replace staples like oats or refined sugars with foods that are equally calorically dense. Eliminating a huge amount of foods can lead to nutrient and energy deficiencies, she says.
You can also use afood-tracking app to make sure youre getting enough calories and macronutrients. Remember that the volume of food youll need to eat may be considerably higher than usual once you eliminatefoods like pasta, dairy, and refined sugar.
You dont need to take out these foods forever, you just need to figure out which ones work for you and which dont, says Van Horn. Many of the off-limits foods in the elimination diets arent bad for you. At the end, there needs to be a reintroduction phase. Thats the whole point.
When you start adding foods back in, do it slowly and specifically. Start with a single serving, give your body at least a day to show any response, and continue to keep track of your eating patterns and any effects in a journal.
More isnt better. Its not ideal to eliminate this many foods in the long term, says Sampson. Van Horn echoes her point, explaining that elimination diets are tools to use temporarily, not permanent solutions. Ultimately, trying onemay help you feelbetterbut only if you do it mindfully and tune in to what your body needs.

Viagra and Cialis Labels Should Mention Role of Plant-Based Diet in Treating ED – Myhealthyclick

A large group of doctors isurging the government to inform Viagra and Cialis users about the importance ofa plant-based diet in treating the underlying cause of erectile dysfunction(ED).
Physicians Committee forResponsible Medicine (PCRM), which is an alliance of 12,000 doctors, has filed a citizen petition with the FDA,urging the health agency to label ED drugs, such as Viagra (sildenafil) and Cialis(tadalafil), with selective information that can help users to understand theimportance of plant-based diet in erectile function.
In the United States, morethan 30 million men suffer from ED.
Considering the findings ofseveral scientific studies, PCRM says ED is often linked to poor cardiovascularhealth, which can be reversed or improved by following a healthy lifestyle, including eating plant-based foods.
PCRM doctors have urged theFDA to mention a notice on ED drugs Viagra and Cialis, which states, Erectiledysfunction is caused by artery disease, a condition that this drug will notimprove. Artery disease can lead to heart attacks, strokes, and early death. Aplant-based diet, moderate exercise, stress management, and lack of smokingcan, in combination, improve and often reverse artery disease.

The group of doctorsreferred to several scientific studies that support the association between aplant-based diet and optimal cardiovascular health, and eventually optimalerectile function.
A 2016 study published inThe American Journal of Clinical Nutrition has found that men who follow theplant-based diet are more likely to have good heart health and ultimately agood penile function.
The study looked at nearly26,000 men for a period of 10 years and found that a diet rich in fruitsreduced ED by 14 percent.
PCRM president Dr. NealBarnard said, A prescription for Viagra should include a lifesaving wake-upcall for men with ED to adopt a heart-healthy diet. Erectile dysfunction is asign of narrowed arteries throughout a mans body, including the arteries tohis heart and brain, putting him at high risk for heart attack, stroke, anddeath.

‘Below Deck’ Captain Lee Rosbach: The Real-Life Diet of the Reality Star Who Works Out Daily Even on the High Seas – GQ

Whats your gym setup like when youre out on the water?
It depends on the boat. If there isnt a gym, Ill take some weights with me or Ill buy some when were docked. If theres a local gym, Ill hit that. Sometimes I'll have to break the workout up throughout the day. A lot of times I take workout bands with me. I have some that are thick and braided, and you can get a serious workout in with those. I'll use them in my room when there's not a gym available, or I'll go up early in the morning on deck, because I like working out outside. It just really puts you in a great frame of mind to start your day.
I almost always position myself where it's gonna go unnoticed [by charter guests]. Or I'll chase the camera boys out. They're like, "Cap, I'm just doing my job!" I'm, like, "Get the fuck outta here!"
What is your sleep schedule like?
I'm a morning person. Usually I get up at six. When we're filming, I go to bed anywhere between midnight and two in the morning. Its not nearly enough sleep, so I try to squeeze in a power nap in the afternoon. Sleep is a premium. You get it when you can.
Does your diet change substantially when you're on the water?
It's hard to get my protein fill on the water, but I just eat what the chef makes. I'll tell him that I don't need a lot of pasta. Pasta is my weak spot. God, I love it. If I'm having a cheat day, I'm going straight for a big old plate of pasta. I mostly try to avoid large amounts of anything.
Is there anything you absolutely never eat?
Kale. Its like somebody just cut their lawn and put it on a plate. So disgusting. There are other ways you can get the benefit of kale without actually ingesting it. In my morning smoothie, I used to add raw eggs, but my wife would get pissed at me. I said, "I've been doing it for years and it hasn't killed me!" Anyway, now I hard-boil the eggs first to make my wife happy. Then I add 50 grams of protein, usually just whey, plus a banana, two cups of blueberries, two cups of strawberries, and two cups of spinach. I'll have that around nine, and it'll carry me through until the early afternoon. I don't do a lot of snacking in between meals, because usually it's something that I shouldn't be having. When I get the urge, I'll grab a protein bar.
Between the exposure the show gives you, the drama on set, and the wealth youre surrounded by as a yacht captain, do you ever find it difficult to keep your head screwed on straight?
I'm a firm believer that you should dance with the girl you brought to the prom. I make a concerted effort not to change anything about myself for the cameras. If I find myself drifting in that direction, I kind of slap myself upside the head and say, "Get a grip!" You have to stay disciplined and focused, and I do my job the same way I've been doing it for the last 30 years.
There's an old saying: What's the difference between God and a captain? God doesn't think he's the captain. A lot of captains think they're God. It's hard to keep things separate sometimes, and you have to be careful that you don't get carried away. But I make a concerted effort to be fair and firm. My wife helps me stay grounded. I talk to her every day. And before wireless cellular, it used to get quite expensive. Then she'd holler at me for calling her. Sue me!
How do you like to unwind?
With a good steak and a nice glass of Pinot Noir.
I read somewhere that you use the hot tub on boats when they have them.
Yep. The boat we have this year has a sauna and a hot tub. Last time we had a sauna, the sound techs filled it up with storage. I said, "Nope. That's not happening this year." I prefer a steam room, though, because you don't have to get it as hot as a sauna, and you get that instant sweat. I love to sweat. I live in South Florida. Doesn't bother me a bit.

In the last decade, there have been a number of diet types like Paleo, Keto and Vegan Diets, which have garnered much hype across the globe. The primary reason for such dietsto be blindly followed by individuals is some peoples desire to lose those extra kilos. But the latest diet fad that is currently breaking the internet is Yoga Diet.

As the name suggests, a Yoga diet can only be followed by individuals who indulge in yoga sessions on a regular basis. Yoga not only helps you to stay in shape but it also aids in improving mental health. According to the Yoga practices, people who perform this form of exercise are supposed to eat certain food items only, instead of gorging on junk food.

If you ever come across a yoga diet expert or a yogic who has been performing yoga asanas over years, they will suggest you to consume chemical-free vegetables. Due to the presence of uric acid in chicken and other animal meats, non-vegetarian food items should be avoided completely when following a yoga diet. They are simple foods which basically means purity and harmony i.e they are considered suitable for yoga practitioners. Sattvic food items includemilk products like cheese and butter, along with fresh veggies, fruits, and wholemeal bread.
Performing yoga for minimum twice dailyduring the yogic diet is highly recommended. The results won't be as effective if you switch your yoga sessions. Another important factor to keep in mind is that one should consume food two hours prior and post your yoga sessions only. Otherwise, you might face difficulty in performing yoga asanas and encounter some digestive issues.
In order to switch to a yoga diet, you need to observe a full day fast, one day a week. The fasting day can be chosen according to your own will. There is no hard and fast rule about a specific day on which the fast should be observed. A fast is kept in order to cleanse your body and get rid of all the toxins. Individuals can have fresh fruits and water while keeping such fast. It is advised that only liquid foods should be consumed during this day.

What ‘dry fasting’ is and why you shouldn’t do it – Los Angeles Times
Posted: February 14, 2020 at 11:42 am
A new fad diet making the rounds on wellness influencer Instagram wont actually help you lose weight. And it could cause dehydration, urinary tract infections, kidney stones, organ failure even death.
Its called dry fasting. It goes beyond what most of us would consider fasting abstaining from solid food or liquid calories and requires consuming no water or liquids of any kind for many hours or even days at a time.
Instagram and other social media sites have provided a glossy new platform for extremely dubious health and nutrition claims. Posts about dry fasting often tout the need to heal or rest or reset your kidneys, or boost their filtration. In practice, what dry fasting will do is make you look a bit more toned, because your body is using up the water in your cells for energy.
Even more dubious claims suggest that dry fasting forces your body to burn toxins, or fat, or inflammation, or tumors. It does not. When you stop feeding your body calories, it breaks down muscle and fat. The toxic byproducts of that breakdown process build up in your system, requiring extra hydration to flush them out.
In other words, if youre abstaining from food, your body needs more water, not less.
Experts agree: There is no dietary or nutritional reason to go on a dry fast.
I dont recommend it at all, said Dr. Pauline Yi, a physician at UCLA Health Beverly Hills who regularly treats patients in their late teens and early 20s. She said intermittent fasting and other fasting-type diets are a popular topic with patients, and she has no problem with people trying them out.
But I also tell them when youre fasting you have to drink water, she said. You cannot go without hydration.
The majority of the human body is water. Your individual water consumption needs depend on your height, weight, health and the climate, but generally speaking, Yi said people should be consuming at least 68 ounces almost nine cups of water every day.
Cary Kreutzer, an associate professor at USCs schools of gerontology and medicine whose area of expertise includes nutrition and diet, says digestive systems arent meant to have extended breaks. She likened making your kidneys go without water to letting your cars engine run out of oil. You can basically burn out some parts of the car that youre going to have to get replaced, she said. You dont want those replacement parts to include your vital organs.
Another unintended consequence of dry fasting: It sets your body in water-conservation mode.
Your body likes homeostasis, said Yi, the physician. If youre going to cut back on water, your body will produce hormones and chemicals to hold onto any water.
So while you might gain a very short-term benefit by looking a tiny bit more toned while youre severely dehydrated (body-builders have been known to dry fast before competitions for that reason), once you consume liquid again, your body rebounds and desperately hangs on to even more water than before. Its like yo-yo dieting in fast motion.
Dry fasting is not the same thing as intermittent fasting, which has become a popular fad diet in recent years. There are different variations of intermittent fasting, but most people start with 16 hours of fasting followed by eight hours of eating. Martin Berkhan created the LeanGains 16:8 intermittent fasting guide and is widely credited with popularizing the diet. On his website, leangains.com, Berkhan writes that during the 16-hour fasting window, coffee, calorie-free sweeteners, diet soda, sugar-free gum and up to a teaspoon of milk in a cup of coffee wont break the fast.
The subreddit for fasting, r/fasting, has an Introduction to Intermittent Fasting guide that contains the following tips for surviving the fasting portion of your day:
Valter Longo has studied starvation, fasting and calorie restriction in humans for nearly 30 years. Hes currently the director of the Longevity Institute at USC and a professor of gerontology. He developed the Fasting-Mimicking Diet, or FMD, a fasting-type diet with small prepackaged meals intended to provide the health and longevity benefits of a five-day fast without requiring a doctors supervision. Fasting-type diets have grown in popularity in recent years for a simple reason, he said: Because they work.
But he said hes not aware of any reputable studies about the effects of dry fasting, and said he wouldnt even consider putting one together, also for a simple reason: Its incredibly dangerous.
For sure, the body needs to reset, but there are safe ways of doing that, and dry fasting is not one of them, Longo said. We require water.
His work has also involved looking at how cultures and religions have engaged with starvation and fasting throughout human history, and says he hasnt heard of any that involved extended fasting without water. The closest is Ramadan, during which observers go without food or water during daylight hours but at most, that lasts for 16 hours, and its preceded and followed by extensive hydration.
If someone tries dry fasting for a full day, Longo said, they risk side effects like developing kidney stones. Longer than that, and you start risking your life.
Some proponents of dry fasting eschew water but recommend hydrating with fresh fruits and vegetables. Hydrating with fruit is certainly better than not hydrating at all. An orange has about a half-cup of water in it; to get to the recommended 68 ounces of water a day, youd have to eat around 17 oranges. Thats a lot of peeling.
So, in conclusion: Dry fasting puts you at risk of kidney stones or organ failure. There are no known, proven long-term benefits to doing it. Though different types of fasts and fasting diets can be beneficial, there is no medical evidence to suggest you need to stop consuming water for any period of time, or that water from fruit is better for you than filtered drinking water. Do not take medical advice from a photo of a person in a sarong.
Please drink some water.

Zinc type key in bid to ensure egg production in heat-stressed layers – FeedNavigator.com

We caught up with Kurt Perryman, technical sales manager at Micronutrients, a Nutreco company, during the International Production and Processing Expo (IPPE) in Atlanta, Georgia to hear more about the research it is doing in relation to poultry diets and hydroxy trace minerals.
Micronutrients has been exploring the possibility of reducing the amount of its zinc hydroxy chloride product that is used in poultry diets while maintaining production, he said. Our main drive is efficiency, so we can use less zinc.
The recommendation is between 100 and 120 ppm and most people feed about 120ppm we recommend 80, he said. Thats a pretty substantial drop to prevent excess mineral excretion and we also get the better performance from the birds better feed conversion, which means less ingredient inputs so that saves our customers money and also its better for the environment.
Zinc is an important mineral for birds and is involved in many of the enzymes that function within a layer, said Perryman. During heat stress, it is involved with the process that removes carbon dioxide from the blood and helps balance the ph.
When a bird is panting it exhales more carbon dioxide than it takes in and theres less carbon dioxide in the blood, so their blood becomes more basic, he said. If their blood is basic they cant dissolve calcium from their bones to put into eggs so their production is going to drop.
The heat stress feeding trial was done in conjunction with researchers at Texas A&M, said Perryman. During the 52-week long feeding trial, layers experienced four weeks of conditions where temperatures reached or exceeded 104 degrees Fahrenheit (40 Celsius).
The heat stress period started at about 30 weeks into the trial when the layers were in their main laying period, he said.
During the heat stress study, production for birds on all the diets dropped during the high-heat period, he said. However, birds on a diet with zinc hydroxy chloride, instead of zinc oxide, generated eight additional eggs and used 3.1% less feed.
We attribute that to the differences in the availability of our minerals, he said.
The company is now working on a new layer study seeking to use lower levels of zinc during production, said Perryman. The 40-week layer trial uses four diets but does not include a stress challenge.
The four diets include a traditional zinc sulfate diet, a diet with hydroxy chloridezinc at 30% of the recommended amount, a diet with the same reduced amount but in zinc sulfate and a low IntelliBond zinc diet with additional manganese, he said. Manganese is important for eggshell formation, he added.
Details from the study are expected to be available at the start of 2021, he said.
In addition to the layer trials, the company also is working on a series of research projects looking at the use of bioavailable copper in the diets of broilers including those raised without antibiotics, Perryman said. We were just trying to answer some questions weve got a lot of papers coming out of the University of Auburn on feeding length and amount.

Tristan Thompson’s description of LeBron James’ ‘worst (expletive) diet ever’ is too good – For The Win
Posted: February 14, 2020 at 11:42 am
LeBron James is an incredible basketball player who has always been in phenomenal shape.
But that doesnt mean he robs himself of eating some tasty food. By now we all know he enjoys his Taco Tuesdays but apparently he enjoys starting his day with a delicious and high calorie breakfast.
And he LOVES dessert.
The Athletic shared a story on LeBron today that had many people close to him sharing their favorite LeBron stories. One of those people was former teammate Tristan Thompson, who said that LeBron has the worst f diet ever, which includes a lot of French toast and a big omelette in the morning.
This is great:
He has the worst f diet ever. Ask him what he eats for breakfast. He has like five french toast, drowns it in syrup with strawberries and bananas. Then he has like a four-egg omelette and then he goes and just f dunks on somebody. It doesnt make sense.
He eats desserts with every meal. Hell come with his one-week diet, vegan crap, but he literally eats like it doesnt make sense. Hes really a specimen. He eats like s. I remember one year I tried to eat like he ate and it just didnt work out. I started gaining weight and said, F this. I mean it works for him. He loves sweets. He loves sweets. He eats desserts and French toast. Its crazy how his body just burns it.
That sounds very much like some breakfasts Ive had except for the dunking on someone part, of course.
And yeah, desserts are fun, too.
