Jennifer Lopez Diet: This Is Everything The ‘Hustlers’ Actress Eats – Showbiz Cheat Sheet

Posted: October 12, 2019 at 6:41 pm

Jennifer Lopezs new movie,Hustlers, is a smash hit. There are rumors that J. Los performance will net her an Oscar nomination. People are talking about a lot more than the movie, though.

Lopez looked fantastic and appeared semi-nude on screen at 50, looking better than most 20-year-olds.Lopez kept up with her younger co-stars and looked just as good if not better in her G-string.

A lot of fans wonder how she does it, and if they can do it too. Lopezs body is all natural, but maintaining that look is hard work. It takes a lot of self-discipline and sacrifice.

No alcohol. No sweets. No caffeine. Theres nothing decadent about this diet. Lopez is very strict about what she puts in her body. She eats a lot of fruits and vegetables. Even her snacks are healthy: She tries to keep fruits and veggies on hand in case she gets peckish.

As for protein, she prefers fish: Its lean and packed with vitamins and minerals. Pretty much all her food is packed with vitamins and minerals.

In addition to abstaining from alcohol, caffeine, and sugar, Lopez avoids processed foods of all kinds. Her diet is as fresh as possible.

Her diet may be restrictive, but it doesnt restrict her. Shes still able to go out to eat she just makes healthy choices wherever shes eating.

And shes never starved herself. A lot of people avoid carbs but Lopez is more concerned with avoiding processed carbs. She eats a lot of sweet potatoes, brown rice, and quinoa.

To really beHustlersready, youll need the workout to go with the super strict diet. Theres not just one exercise routine that she follows. When you exercise as much as J. Lo, you have to mix things up.

She does anything from kickboxing to weight lifting. She has two personal trainers she works with one in LA and one in New York. One of her favorite exercises is something called a platypus walk. Its basically walking while in a squatting position.

Her workouts arent always super long. She really doesnt have the time for two hours at the gym. Shes a singer, actress, producer, and entrepreneur. There arent enough hours in the day for a long workout.

Lopez reportedly tries to keep her gym time to half an hour. That means she really has to focus on what shes doing and make sure shes getting the most out of her short time at the gym. It also means her workouts are very intense.

Yes, J. Lo basically has the perfect body. But thats not necessarily the point of her diet. Lopez is all about her health. The added benefit is that she looks great.

Its not just her body that benefits from her healthy lifestyle. Her well being is better too, thanks to her diet and exercise. The star says shes 100 percent convinced that working out is part of what makes [her] so happy.

Fans know that J. Lo is a dedicated mom, and future wife to fiance Alex Rodriguez. She thinks her exercise routine contributes to her familial bliss. According to Lopez: When you take care of yourself and work to stay healthy, youre better able to take care of those you love. So working out is definitely a priority for me.

So if you eat and work out like J. Lo, youll have to give up caffeine, alcohol, sugar, processed food, and starchy vegetables. But, youll be happier, healthier, and maybe even have a happier family.

Were in. But first, just one more chocolate.

Water and diet are key to weight loss at any age – Northern Virginia Daily

Posted: October 12, 2019 at 6:41 pm

FRONT ROYAL Its never too late to get healthy.

Dr. Erik Mitchell, who on a recent day at Valley Health Orthopaedics in Front Royal saw patients ranging in age from 5 to 82, said health and safety are important at any age.

Specializing in the treatment of sports injuries, he said getting or staying healthy at a later age is entirely possible. Still, there are considerations people should make if they want to pursue more activity than theyre used to.

First, contact a primary care physician before starting a new exercise plan or changing around your diet.

The benefits of exercise are tremendous, but you have to go low and slow, he said.

Its also good to consult a dietitian or nutritionist for specific dietary needs, he said.

Next, people should make sure theyre safe while starting a new workout plan. Ease into exercise, stay hydrated and eat enough of the right foods to help prevent injuries.

We know whats important is hydration for sure, Mitchell said, and I think a well-balanced diet is important, too.

Theres a bunch of fad diets, he said. But he doesnt recommend any. Instead, he said to focus on getting enough protein, plenty of water and enjoying a generally balanced diet.

Hydration requirements are different for each individual, he said.

He drinks 120 ounces of water a day and said he feels hydrated enough. But he also said it could vary from person to person based on their weight, health and activity level.

If youre at a point where youre thirsty, youre dehydrated for sure."

People should increase water intake when they exercise, he added. You have to definitely incorporate more fluids when you begin an exercise program.

In general, he said, a comprehensive exercise routine includes four elements: an active warm-up, strength training, resistance training and a cool-down.

Accomplish those four things, he said, and you know that youre basically taking part in a program thats safe and effective.

Though genetics play a role in a persons health, Mitchell said hydration and food choice are also hugely important to good health.

Diet is the critical key aspect of any weight-loss program, he said.

Its even more important than exercise, which he said can only go so far in helping a person lose weight. Even with vigorous activity, he said, a person can only lose so many calories through exercise.

We know fundamentally, what you eat, that plays the biggest impact, he said.

Nuts Prevent Weight Gain, Showing Benefits of Protein and Fiber in Diet – The Great Courses Daily News

Posted: October 12, 2019 at 6:41 pm

By Jonny Lupsha, News Writer

According to the study, Americans have increased their consumption of various kinds of nuts, but little research had been done before regarding the effects of this dietary change on weight gain or loss. The study concluded that this classic snack food is linked to a reduced risk of overall weight increase in adults. Nuts have been a staple food as part of a healthy diet for decades due to their wide range of nutritional benefits like protein, fiber, and healthy fats.

Plenty of foods boast that theyre high in fiber, such as any food containing branbran muffins, bran cereal, and so onbut what exactly is fiber?

The Food Nutrition Board suggests that total fiber is the sum of both dietary fiber and functional fiber, said Professor Roberta H. Anding, Director of Sports Nutrition and a clinical dietitian at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Childrens Hospital.

First up is dietary fiber. Dietary fiber is a non-digestible carbohydrate and lignins, which are the woody portions of the plant, that are intrinsic to plant-based foods, Professor Anding said. In a clear example, non-digestible carbohydrates and lignins are responsible for the woody parts of vegetables like broccoli stems and celery stalks.

Second, functional fiber is a different type of non-digestible carbohydrate. Professor Anding said that functional fiber can have many benefits for us. Functional fiber could be the gummy or viscous fiber, [like] the thicker fibers that are found in oatmeal, and this specific type of fiber is called beta-glucan,' she said. Beta-glucan lowers your cholesterol; it supports the immune function.

Professor Anding said another way to differentiate between fiber types is simply whether or not they dissolve in water. If they arent water soluble, theyre more likely to be dietary fiber. Several kinds of beans, on the other hand, break apart when cooked in hot water. Those are functional fibers, since theyre water-soluble.

The best-known benefit of maintaining a diet thats high in fiber is the healthy passing of waste. According to Professor Anding, fiber can lead to stool that isnt too firm to pass but also isnt diarrhea. This can help all of us, but especially AIDS patients. It also lessens the risk of digestive disease and helps prevent hemorrhoids.

[Fiber] can also help to lower blood cholesterols, and in that case, help prevent cardiovascular disease, or heart disease, Professor Anding said. Certainly, we may be able to reduce the risk of developing Type-2 diabetes by controlling blood sugar levels, and its due to the fiber and because these wonderful whole grain foods are a source of magnesium, which is lost in the processing of whole grains.

Nuts may primarily be known as a source of protein, but their high-fiber content shouldnt be overlooked, either. While the new study links nuts to healthier weights, the popular snack can provide other benefits, all the way up to and including saving lives.

Professor Roberta H. Anding contributed to this article. Professor Anding is a registered dietitian and Director of Sports Nutrition and a clinical dietitian at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Childrens Hospital. She received her bachelors degree in Dietetics and her masters degree in Nutrition from Louisiana State University.

The Vertical Diet Review: Benefits, Downsides, and Meal Plan – Healthline

Posted: October 12, 2019 at 6:41 pm

The Vertical Diet is a performance-based nutrition plan developed by a professional bodybuilder and powerlifter.

It claims to optimize gut health, correct nutritional deficiencies, and balance hormones. It also promises to improve energy, endurance, and recovery in athletes.

Originally developed for high-performance athletes and bodybuilders, the Vertical Diet is also marketed as an option for casual gym-goers.

This article explains everything you need to know about the Vertical Diet.

The Vertical Diet was developed by Stan Efferding, an elite powerlifter, to enhance performance in bodybuilders, powerlifters, and serious athletes.

The program also claims to work for casual gym-goers who are looking to increase muscle mass or lose weight.

Unlike traditional horizontal diets that emphasize dietary variety across numerous food groups, the Vertical Diet focuses on a limited number of high-quality, nutrient-rich foods.

According to Efferding, limiting variety makes your body more efficient at digesting and absorbing nutrients, which should improve muscle growth, recovery, gut health, and metabolism.

That said, these claims are not backed by scientific evidence.

The Vertical Diet was created by powerlifter Stan Efferding to enhance athletic performance and improve recovery. It promotes a limited number of high-quality, nutrient-rich foods that are easy to digest.

The Vertical Diet has several components, all of which are meant to maximize muscle gain.

While designed to be high in carbs, the diet can also be customized to meet a variety of eating patterns, including low-carb diets, intermittent fasting, and the paleo diet.

Red meat and white rice comprise the bulk of the Vertical Diet.

According to the diets advocates, white rice is the primary carb source because its easy to digest, especially in large quantities. This is particularly important for serious athletes with very high calorie needs.

Red meat is preferred over poultry or fish due to its nutrient density and concentration of iron, B vitamins, zinc, and cholesterol, which the diet claims are important for muscle growth and testosterone production.

However, as you cant meet all your micronutrient needs with these two foods, the diet includes a limited amount of nutrient-rich, easily digestible foods, such as eggs, yogurt, spinach, and salmon.

All foods that arent easily digestible are discouraged.

These include vegetables that may cause bloating and gas, such as broccoli and cauliflower, which are high in FODMAPs, as well as onion and garlic.

Legumes, brown rice, and other grains are also curbed because they contain lectins and phytic acid, which may limit your absorption of certain nutrients (1, 2).

However, small amounts of legumes and oats are allowed as long as theyre sprouted or soaked to make them easier to digest (3, 4).

When starting out, you calculate your basal metabolic rate (BMR), or the number of calories your body needs to function while at rest. You then add calories based on your training regimen. Bodybuilders should aim for a calorie surplus to gain muscle weight.

As your body adjusts to the diet and starts to feel hungry between meals, youre supposed to go vertical by adding more calories. This process is meant to support greater muscle gains, quicker recovery, and more intense or frequent training sessions.

The exact number of additional calories is based on training needs and involves either increasing your portions of rice and meat or eating an additional meal during the day.

Once you start feeling hungry between meals again, you repeat this process until youve reached your goal weight or goal muscle mass.

Most calories on the Vertical Diet come from red meat and white rice, though limited amounts of nutrient-rich, easily digestible foods are allowed. Calories are steadily increased to support muscle growth and bodybuilding.

Bodybuilders, powerlifters, and other athletes looking to gain muscle mass may find that the Vertical Diet fits their needs.

It may also benefit those who want to lose weight or have difficulty digesting FODMAPs.

A calorie surplus is important for gaining muscle, especially for bodybuilders, powerlifters, and other serious athletes (5).

By focusing on easily digestible foods, the Vertical Diet makes it easier to eat frequent, high-calorie meals without experiencing digestive side effects.

Furthermore, the diet emphasizes increasing your carb intake, which can help boost muscle mass (5, 6, 7).

Studies show that adequate carb intake prior to training can enhance athletic performance. Carbs may also increase protein synthesis and reduce muscle breakdown (6, 7).

Diets low in FODMAPs foods which the Vertical Diet limits have been shown to significantly reduce digestive symptoms, such as bloating, stomach cramps, constipation, and diarrhea, in people with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) (8, 9).

Bodybuilders and other athletes who need frequent, high-calorie meals may also benefit, as low-FODMAP foods reduce your risk of bloating. Bloating may otherwise impair your muscle and weight gains by limiting your food intake.

Still, some high-FODMAP foods are allowed on the Vertical Diet, including milk, yogurt, apples, cherries, figs, and other fruits.

Therefore, you may want to avoid these foods if you have IBS.

The Vertical Diets emphasis on easily digestible foods may help people with IBS or athletes with high calorie needs tolerate it better. The diets main benefit is that it aids muscle growth.

Its important to note that the Vertical Diet has numerous downsides, including being:

The Vertical Diet is severely restrictive, expensive to follow, and low in overall and prebiotic fiber. It may lead to nutritional deficiencies and be difficult to maintain long term.

The Vertical Diet emphasizes red meat and white rice while offering limited amounts of other items. Foods you can eat on this diet include:

The diet likewise encourages eating high-quality foods, such as grass-fed meats, free-range eggs, and organic fruits and vegetables.

The Vertical Diet promotes nutrient-dense foods that are easy to digest. Other than red meat and white rice, it allows some fruits, low-FODMAP vegetables, eggs, whole-fat dairy, and fatty fish.

The Vertical Diet discourages foods it considers difficult to digest, as well as highly processed foods, including:

Keep in mind that the diet permits small amounts of some of these foods as long as your body can digest them without any digestive symptoms, such as gas or bloating.

However, processed vegetable oils are never allowed.

Grains, legumes, high-FODMAP vegetables, processed vegetable oils, sugar alcohols, added sugar, coffee, and alkalized water are discouraged on the Vertical Diet.

Here is a 3-day sample menu for the Vertical Diet. Remember that your number of meals may vary based on your training regimen and calorie needs.

The 3-day sample meal plan above provides some dishes you can eat on the Vertical Diet.

The Vertical Diet is meant to help bodybuilders and other serious athletes gain muscle mass and improve performance.

It includes easily digestible foods to help your body absorb nutrients more efficiently and prevent digestive side effects, such as bloating. To boost protein and carb intake, it emphasizes eating increasingly large portions of red meat and white rice.

If you work out consistently and are looking for ways to boost muscle and gain weight, the Vertical Diet could be worth trying.

So we are supposed to diet but not to get diet face? – The Guardian

Posted: October 12, 2019 at 6:41 pm

Call me a sadist, but sometimes I get a huge amount of pleasure from the misfortunes of others. I mean, why do any of us read problem pages? We dont really want the problem solved; we like wallowing in the wretchedness of others. Particularly sexually. No one cares about people having a good time. What we really want are premature ejaculators with herpes.

It is in this spirit that I am delighted to come across a problem that I have never suffered from and am unlikely to encounter: diet face.

Last week, the broadcaster Jenni Murray said she was content not to lose any more weight, having lost 25kg (4st) after a sleeve gastrectomy, because she didnt want her face to collapse like Nigel Lawsons. So diet face people getting skinny in middle age and then looking gaunt and aged is a thing! Obviously, it is more of a thing for women, because everything is. Cosmetic surgeons, those doctors of insecurity, talk of gravitational descent, eyebrow deflation, jowling and neck laxity. Nice.

The actor Courteney Cox once said: In Hollywood, to get your bottom half to be the right size, your face may have to be a little gaunt. Or, as the adage has it, at some stage you have to choose between your face and your arse. But dont worry, because none of us need to look like skulls on sticks thanks to fillers, which can replace your lost subcutaneous fat. You can inject all sorts of stuff into your face, as well as doing something called a micro-fat transfer .

This really is modern womanhood: starve yourself stupid and work out every goddamned minute so that you can stay young-looking but dont forget to spend a fortune plumping up your caved-in face.

Or heres an idea: chips.

The Diet That Helped James McAvoy Get Jacked as The Beast – menshealth.com

Posted: October 12, 2019 at 6:41 pm

James McAvoy's dramatic evolution into The Beast is one of Hollywood's most shocking physique transformations. To prepare for his role in Split and Glass, McAvoy packed on about 16 pounds of muscle mass in nearly four months.

Of course, that required spending lots of time in the gym with trainer Magnus Lygdback. But a good training program only goes so far without the proper diet, and McAvoy followed a well-balanced approach, which Lygdback shared with Men's Health. The star ate every three hours and generally hit the gym two hours after a meal or snack. Another meal was consumed immediately post-training, Lygdback says.

To bulk up, McAvoy counted macronutrients, so carbs, fat, and protein, to ensure he consumed enough of each nutrient. The actor began each day with a hearty breakfast consisting of four eggs, sweet potatoes, turkey bacon, and sweet potatoes.

Yes, McAvoy ate the entire eggyolks included.

"Eat the whole egg," says Lygdback. "There's a lot of nutrients in the yolk."

And no, eating eggs isn't bad for your health. In fact, a 2015 study showed that eating even three eggs a day was okay in people who already had coronary artery disease.

For snacks, McAvoy ate more protein, like turkey meatballs. Lunch normally consisted of lamb, beef, carbs, fats, and veggies.

After that was another protein-based snackyes more meatfollowed by a dinner that included veggies, protein, carbs, and fat.

McAvoy rigorously counted macros, but that process can be tedious if you want to try it yourself. However, you shouldn't let that deter you from trying The Beasts's approach. Instead, use your fist to determine portion sizes rather than weighing food and tracking.

To adapt McAvoy's diet plan, start by eating three to four eggs in the morning. Choose a fist-sized portion of protein for snacks snack. Lunch and dinner should include a fist-sized portion of protein, another fist-sized portion of fat, and two-fist sized portions of vegetables.

"This diet is approachable fore veryone because you get to pick your protein, your carbohydrates, and your fat,"Lygdback says. "Pick and choose and have a go."

The New Diet Method That Must Be Done on the Full Moon – catcountry1073.com

Posted: October 12, 2019 at 6:41 pm

With a new diet fad coming out what feels like every single day, it's sometimes overwhelming to decide which one to try.

Some of them sound so absolutely ridiculous, but when you read the reviews of people's success stories, it's hard not to wonder whether or not you should put any stock into it.

First of all, you should obviously NEVER try anything that hasn't been approved by your doctor. Secondly, if a diet promises results that sound too good to be true, it probably isn't what it seems. If it actually does deliver, it's important to make sure the method isn't harmful to your health.

With that brings me to the new diet trend that I'm not sure about whatsoever. Ever hear of the moon diet? No? Neither did I until today.

The moon diet is said to work because of the gravitational pull the different phases of the moon have on our bodies. According to Glamour.com, if this diet method is followed during full and new moons, you could stand to lose up to six pounds in one day.

The catch? It's definitely not safe to carry out for more than one day.

Basically, you're supposed to only consume water and juice during the full and new moons. Now, when I say JUST water and juice, I mean ONLY water and juice; no food whatsoever.

Remember when I mentioned how diets promising crazy results probably aren't actually all their cracked up to be? Yeah.... that.

It is possible to lose 6 lbs in a day, however that's water weight which means you're super likely to gain it all back almost as quickly as it left you.

So, what do you think? Is the moon diet worth trying? Just to see if it works? Let me know in the comments below.

If you're interested in giving it a whirl, the next full moon is October 13th.

While the decline in rates has prompted many home owners to refinance their loans, it may not be enough to create a major uptick in home-buying activity.

A new study suggests that diet can help mental health.

It wont give you the flu, so get the shot.

A recent report by eHarmony looks at what happy couples could tell us about finance and romance.

The analysis was carried out by Glassdoor based across major metro areas.

Weve never had joint checking accounts.

Transgender individuals in a new study were six times as likely as their general-population counterparts to have visited a health-care provider for an anxiety or mood disorder.

The Supreme Court heard arguments this week on whether the civil rights laws barring workplace discrimination based on gender also applies to gender identity and sexual orientation.

We went to couples counseling and decided to stay together, but his lies and deception have taken a toll on our marriage.

President Donald Trump says the U.S. and China reached a substantial phase one deal on trade, as stocks closed sharply higher Friday, with analysts giving credit to optimism over the U.S.-China trade talks.

The unforeseen power outages in California show that economists could be badly underestimating the potential costs of climate change.

This key support for stock prices has fallen away, writes Mark Hulbert.

At about a penny a gallon in many places, water might be difficult to think of as a good investment, but stocks and exchange-traded funds related to it have rallied nicely this year.

Is a Lack of Dietary Diversity the Next Challenge in the Developing World? – Seed World

Posted: October 12, 2019 at 6:41 pm

Often, I think back to my time teaching agriculture at a secondary school in Samoa, a Pacific Island nation northeast of Australia. When you would sit down for a meal, the adults would eat first followed by the children. The adults would select the foods high in protein and leave the high carbohydrate foods to the children the exact opposite of the children needed. A young child needs protein to help with growth and development whereas an adult has finished growing, and therefore, needs carbohydrates as an energy source.

This example highlights the need for education on human nutrition when food aid projects are delivered in developing countries.

Recently, at a Crawford fund conference, I heard a talk about the rise of obesity in Zimbabwe. How could this be true? The root of the problem comes down to a lack of diversity in the diet.

The story focused on children that would visit their grandmothers farm in Zimbabwe where they would see a range of diverse food crops grown. They loved the different foods that she would make for them and they were always happy and healthy. Eventually, the grandmothers farm was passed to one of her nephews who had limited experience with farming. The most profitable crop to grow for him was corn, so he planted the whole farm to corn. His family was fed corn for breakfast, lunch and dinner. This led to his children becoming obese and having poor health due to the lack of diversity in their diet and an excess of calories.

This story focused on two major factors, and they both come down to nutrition:

1. Humans need a diverse diet to stay healthy.

2. Farming land needs a diversity of plants grown on it in rotation or at the same time to help remain healthy as well as the plants that grow on it.

Another downside of lack of diversity on the farm goes back to the farmer in Zimbabwe who grew corn after corn crop. He found over time that his corn crop started yielding less and the crops had more diseases. No one told him that corn required high amounts of fertilizer that he couldnt afford to buy, and plant disease would increase each year if there was no crop rotation to break the disease growth cycle.

As seed specialists, we have varieties that are champions for our companies, and we use these as leading products to promote our brand. However, we should be thinking about the whole package rather than the individual product. With the changeover from the public sector to the private industry, the private sector has a responsibility to educate the consumer, so that products can be used in a more sustainable manner.

Now, our generation needs to bring the healthy people, healthy planet message. Nearly 75% of the worlds calories are supplied by four major crops: corn, wheat, rice and soybean. Three of these are predominately carbohydrates, and one a protein legume. In the roulette wheel of climate change, it seems like a big gamble to place all your chips on four numbers and hope for the big win to increase food production by 70% to feed the worlds population by 2050.

To find solutions, we must share knowledge with the consumer so they better understand the link between their food, their farm and their nutrition. It is our moral responsibility to educate farmers in the developing world how to lead healthier lives through the food that they eat, so that they are able to pass on knowledge and wisdom to the next generation.
