David Harbours Weight Loss Transformation: How He Lost More Than 75 Pounds?
Modified Oct 11, 2022 06:23 PM IST
If you're a fan of Netflix's Stranger Things, you've probably noticed some major changes in the character of Jim Hopper played by David Harbour.
In one memorable scene where Harbour takes off his shirt to show off his lean, toned physique, he reveals the aftermath of his time spent locked up in a Soviet labor camp.
As Harbour told GQ, he worked intensely with his personal trainer David Higgins to go through eight months of training, including a rigorous exercise and diet plan to lose weight for the role.
So, how did he lose more than 75 pounds for the leaner version of Hopper seen in season 4? Heres what we learned from an Instagram live video Harbour did with Higgins.
Growing up as a nerdy kid who had never played sports before, David Harbour was never athletic for most of his life till he realized in his 40s that his body could not sustain a sedentary lifestyle.
Harbour told People Magazine that he was crossing the street one day when a car came into view. He attempted to sprint, but his body wouldn't let him. He realized that if he wasn't capable of running across the street, it was a part of growing old.
While preparing for the role of Hopper in season 4 of Stranger Things, David Harbour started working out.
He also began a healthy relationship with his body that made him feel good about himself and resulted in an increase in confidence. Harbour said he does an hour-long Pilates session five days a week.
He credited the exercises for fixing his injury and imbalances in his body, including his knee, toe ankle, hip, and back. Harbour started off with simple movements on a reformer machine.
When asked what his ab routine was to build his six-pack, Harbour laughed and said that his trainer made him do 200 ab crunches five times a week.
David Harbour told GQ that his major weight loss was due to intermittent fasting, a popular way that involves restricting when or how much you can eat in a given period.
Harbour said it was the fad diet of the moment but later found out that it did help him with his weight management. Research hasn't proven that intermittent fasting can lead to healthier habits, but there are studies that have shown no health risks associated with it.
The actor said that he wasn't making any drastic changes to the food he ate as much as he was changing how much he was eating, which made his lifestyle better.
Harbour told GQ that he had his meals within a six-to-eight-hour time frame during the day and fasted for 24 hours twice a week. He didn't change what he was eating; rather he limited his mealtimes to specific time frames.
After practicing intermittent fasting and cutting out sugar for a while, Harbour decided to eat more vegetables and make his diet cleaner by eating more vegetarian foods. He still follows intermittent fasting and mostly vegetarian eating even after his transformation for Stranger Things.
Even after completing his training for Stranger Things, David Harbour told People Magazine that he still keeps up a regular exercise routine. He likes to do weight training twice a week and runs at a low rate four or five times a week, keeping his pace at about 65 to 75% of his potential heart rate.
In an interview with GQ, Harbour told the magazine that he learned a lot from his experience on Stranger Things, especially the relationship with his body and what health means to him.

Is it time to stop posting ‘before and after’ weight loss photos? – RTE.ie
Posted: October 12, 2022 at 2:03 am
Often posted by proud personal trainers, fitness app founders or weight-loss programme accounts, before and after photos are all over social media.
On Instagram alone, youll find 13.8 million posts under the tag #weightlosstransformation, many showing side by side images of people in gym kit (or sometimes just their underwear) showing off how many pounds theyve shifted since embarking on a new diet and/or exercise regime.
Theres nothing wrong with feeling proud of your achievements, of course, but is this focus on physical changes actually the best way to encourage healthy life choices?
New research from Asics reveals that 80% of people feel demotivated by before and after pics, while 73% believe societys obsession with the perfect body image is damaging our mental health.
"An after picture, it doesnt give you any context," says online creator and activitist Jada Sezer, who was a plus size model for 10 years before leaving the industry to pursue other interests.
"You can definitely have an after picture that might have this idealised body type, yet [that person] could be hungry, could be really moody, it could affect their periods, they could be angry and have lost out on some relationships around them because of their moods."
While social media users might think their impressive weight loss journey photos are inspirational to others, thats not always the case. The research found that 48% of people feel insecure about their bodies after seeing exercise transformation pictures.

Sezer, who in 2019 ran the London Marathon in her underwear with journalist and author Bryony Gordon and is also an ambassador for UN Women UK, wants to encourage a more balanced approach to exercise and social media.
We caught up with the 33-year-old Londoner to talk fitness, body confidence and building a inclusive community online.

Do you think personal trainers and companies use before and after photos as a tool to get other people to sign up to their diet and exercise programmes?
"I think the fitness industry is a very, very large industry with a lot of profits to be made. And the fact that transformation pics have become a big part of that is to try and sell this idealised ideal of what you could become, its like selling a dream.
"It doesnt take into account different peoples body compositions. Its not very individualised. Its very one [size] fits all. Were all really different. I just find it can be quite reductive."
Do you think theres a healthy way to share your fitness journey on social media?

"The thing with Instagram is its always going to be a snapshot of someones experience its not going to ever show anyone the full human experience of what that one person is going through.
"And then when youre congratulated with likes, and these positive strokes that the algorithm of Instagram can often give us thats a whole other conversation to be had.
"But is Instagram the best place [to track your progress]? Or would it be maybe working with your personal trainer or a fitness coach and have that one-to-one relationship where you can also get that offline support?"
How does exercise benefit your mental health?
"Exercise helps me to realise how strong I am, [that I can] achieve certain milestones and challenges Ive set myself. But also on a day-to-day maintenance basis, it helps me to get out any pent-up stress.
"That doesnt necessarily mean it has to be a really sweaty, hardcore HIIT session four times a week. It can be literally just doing movement in my room, just doing some yoga and sun salutations for 20 minutes or whatever."
Some people still believe you cant be fit or healthy if youre not a certain size, what would you say to those people?

"Fitness doesnt look like one thing. The fat on your body doesnt determine your fitness level, although weve been told for years that is the case through movies that show larger actors as the sloppy ones, the messy, dirty, lazy ones.
"Theres a lot of very skinny fat people that are internally not very healthy. They might have fast metabolisms but are on a McDonalds diet. You might assume that they are really, really healthy. They must workout, their life must be perfect. And I think its about changing that narrative."
Youve built a really supportive online community but how do you deal with negative comments?
"I always feel really inspired and motivated when I get negative comments. It often happens when big media campaigns come out, because I reach an audience thats outside my current community. It gives me a really good indication of how far we still need to move with body positivity.
"We should be appreciating our bodies even more, and sharing that with other women that may feel theyre in a situation whether its online or offline and have had criticism from other people, to remember how special our bodies are."
What are the most encouraging kind of messages you receive?

"I think its really beautiful that people share their stories [such as] really harrowing experiences theyve had, that have really destroyed them at times.
"Even mums that share my profile with their daughters, or women that have said, Weve got into running because of your experience, or I went to the gym for the first time, or send me pictures of them wearing shorts.
"Or I wore that bra that you recommended and its changed the way I wear a top, because Ive been shopping the wrong bras for so long. Things like that make me feel really, really proud."

Joseph Baena Has For Sure Lost Weight While Competing on DWTS: Its a Completely Different Workout – Us Weekly
Posted: October 12, 2022 at 2:03 am
Seeing the results! Joseph Baena opened up about how competing on Dancing With the Stars compares to his bodybuilding workouts, describing how his physique has changed throughout rehearsals.
I feel like Im getting a little leaner, the 25-year-old son of Arnold Schwarzenegger exclusively told Us Weekly following his performance with pro Daniella Karagach on the Monday, October 10, episode. Im losing weight, for sure. Its definitely a change of pace. The bodys changing a little bit.
Baena explained that dancing requires a lot more cardio than he expected. Its a lot more core [work], he added. [Daniellas] kicking my butt in the ballroom. [Im] drenched in sweat basically every night because of these workouts.
The fitness model joked that it was a blessing in disguise that Karagach, 29, had to sit out for the previous two weeks of the competition after testing positive for COVID-19. Baena teamed up with troupe member Alexis Warr in Karagachs absence and he thinks his partners rest paid off.
We have been beating each other up [with these flips], he teased on Monday. I have bruises under the sparkles here. I have scrapes, I have marks. But the regimen of working out [is] completely different.
The dynamic duo performed a Charleston to A Star Is Born from Hercules in honor of Disney+ night, scoring a 28 from the judges. In rehearsal footage, Baena opened up about feeling very insecure about his body while growing up because he was overweight, comparing his own fitness journey to what Hercules goes through in the animated film.
Carrie Ann Inaba was quick to praise the real estate agents vulnerability and muscles as the dance concluded. Put your shirt back on because it was distracting, she teased, while fellow judge Bruno Tonioli raved over Baenas pecs appeal.
Monday nights performance held another special meaning for Baena, whose Hercules tribute doubled as a shout-out to his famous father, 75, who played the same character in 1970s Hercules in New York. When asked how it felt to be compared to Schwarzenegger, the California native said he doesnt let the pressure get to him.
Hes so happy, hes so proud [of me], Baena told Us and other reporters. I love my father. Hes the smartest, best man I can think of. So, you know, to be compared to him to be in the same character, Hercules its amazing. Its awesome. And, you know, who doesnt want to be like their father, right? Its great.
Schwarzenegger shares Baena with former housekeeper Mildred Baena. The Terminator actor is also the father of Katherine, 32, Christina, 31, Patrick, 29, and Christopher, 25, whom he shares with ex-wife Maria Shriver.
Dancing With the Stars airs on Disney+ Mondays at 8 p.m. ET.

How to Lose Over 50 Pounds Naturally and Painlessly in Every Season According to Japanese Doctor – The Epoch Times
Posted: October 12, 2022 at 2:03 am
The festivity has already begun with the smell of pumpkin latte. With Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve approaching, weight loss will soon be the hot topic on the table or be on the New Years resolution list for 2022.
Studies have confirmed that being overweight and obese increases the risk of deadly diseases. Although losing weight seems Mission Impossible, your body and health highly benefit from it.
Weight loss not only impacts your confidence positively but also your long-term health. While dietary plans of Keto, Atkins, South Beach, and the Mediterranean have become seasonal trends, workout exercises like yoga, Pilates, HIIT, and weight lifting are always in season. The constant weight loss phenomenon is not just in the west but also in the east.
Interestingly, Traditional Chinese Medicine has its unique take on weight loss.
Japanese physician, diabetes expert, and traditional Chinese medicine practitioner, Kudo Takafumi, believes that obesity is a type of physique when a body loses balance. Hence, people can become thinner by aiming to change their body shapes. Dr. Takafumi also used this method to shed 25 kg (55 Lbs), from 92 kg (202 Lbs) to 67 kg (148 Lbs).
Dr. Takafumi reckons that stress is one of the primary causes of gaining weight. Psychological stress affects the neuro system, confusing the balance of appetite in our central nervous system, which leads to binge eating.
Why cant you keep the weight off?
The emphasis is not on the pressure from work, but the doctor refers to peoples mental state such as worrying about trivial things, irritability, depression, or rage, which are all manifestations of psychological pressure
In addition, when gastrointestinal metabolism becomes abrupt, metabolism will stagnate, resulting in edema and fluid retention. Despite consuming little food, people with gastric issues often find themselves putting on extra pounds, the Japanese author said.
Dr. Takafumi also mentions that different types of obesity are signs of physical regulation imbalance. Diet control and exercises may reduce calorie intake, boost metabolism, and help lose weight in a short period. However, as soon as patients return to everyday lifestyles and busy work schedules, they regain all the weight. For many people, maintaining a healthy body weight over the long term is difficult. That is why many people give up on trying.
Traditional Chinese Medicine focuses on the overall functioning and balance of the human body, the patients physicality, and the law of nature.
Takafumi said, The role of traditional Chinese Medicine is to restore the normal functioning of the internal organs, to achieve balance.
Therefore, various types of herbal medicines will be prescribed based on the kinds of body types and obesity.
Japanese and Chinese TCM practices have many similarities. After the Tang Dynasty in 900 AD, Chinese medical theories and works were passed on to Japan, Korea, Central Asia, and West Asia.
The earliest known documentation of Traditional Chinese medicine (Inner Classic of the Yellow Emperor) existed over two thousand years ago and Chinese medicine theory dates back, at least, to the Shang Dynasty more than three thousand years ago.
Japanese culture was profoundly influenced by Traditional Chinese culture, before it branched off and evolved into its own civilization, such as its own use of Chinese characters, writing, and medicine.
For obesity caused by stress and anxiety, Dr. Takafumi recommended Chaihy soup to enhance blood circulation and metabolism and improve constipation.
As for binge eating patients, he suggests Windproof Shengsa improves the overall physical metabolism, burns accumulated fat as well as suppresses appetite.
The diet expert also pointed out that the human body changes with the seasons. It is less likely to gain weight if patients consume seasonal food and change their lifestyle accordingly.,
The human metabolic rate will slow down in the summer. The Japanese doctor suggests eating more raw vegetables, fruits, fried fruit, seaweed, and natto beans.
To maximize sweating and calorie burning, Dr. Takafumi presented the following quick metabolic boost method during the slow season:
Run hot water in your bathtub. Sit there for three minutes as a warm-up. Then leave the tub. Rest for five minutes. Repeat several times.
This in-and-out method will not only make the body perspire and burn calories but will help improve blood circulation. Smooth blood circulation is crucial to sustaining an excellent metabolic rate.
Since winter days usually feel shorter due to earlier sundown, Dr. Takafumi recommends everyone go outside to absorb some sunlight more often. Sunshine provides serotonin secretion, an endocrine hormone for boosting mood and feeling joyful. That is why it is also called the happiness hormone. Serotonin affects various physical and emotional functions; it protects brain neurons and prevents brain degeneration. The happiness hormone helps stop bleeding, suppress pain, and repair cells.
A medical journal published by Oxford Academic confirms that Serotonin has emerging roles in regulating metabolism, mood, and neural and non-neural functions in the human body.
Serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine), is key to mediating various central and peripheral functions in the human body.
The study writes, Serotonins inhibitory effect on appetite has led to the approval of receptor agonists for treating obesity. Furthermore, digestion, insulin production, and liver repair depend on peripheral serotonin-mediated signaling.
In other words, the more happiness hormones you create, the more weight you will lose.

Sports World Reacts To Shaq’s Weight Loss News – The Spun

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - OCTOBER 10: NBA analyst Shaquille O'Neal arrives at a preseason game between the Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Lakers at T-Mobile Arena on October 10, 2018 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Lakers defeated the Warriors 123-113. (Photo by Ethan Miller/Getty Images)
Shaquille O'Neal has always been a big man - vertically and horizontally. But he's apparently been working around the clock to get a little smaller in the latter area.
Shaq has been hitting the gym and recently posted a photo on Instagram showing that he has a pretty decent set of abs. In the past, Shaq has sported a pretty rotund belly.
But during his recent appearance on Logan Paul's Impaulsive podcast, Shaq revealed that he's lost over 35 pounds, dropping from 401 pounds down to 365. He said that his goal is 345.
Most importantly though, Shaq revealed what his motivation for finally losing the weight was: His colleague and friend Charles Barkley.
I like to create crazy motivation, Shaq said.I was looking at myself and I had that Charles Barkley retirement body..."
Sports fans were floored by how funny that was, calling it an absolutely incredible burn of Barkley:
Jokes aside, Shaq probably needed to lose the weight. He's been dealing with a litany of health problems, including sleep apnea, and decided that working out more often would help.
From there, Shaq started setting goals, and now he looks incredibly healthy for a 50-year-old man over seven feet tall.
Good on Shaq for chasing that weight loss goal. Maybe Barkley will join him on the weight loss journey soon.

Nutritionist Shares 5 Tips To Avoid Festive Weight Gain – NDTV

Weight loss tips: Choose healthy snacking options to avoid weight gain during festivities
The festive season is here and with it begins back-to-back feasts, parties and family gatherings. Besides mingling, these occasions are all about gulping down sugary drinks, relishing tempting fried food and emptying boxes full of sweets. We all know it's hard to resist indulging in these feasts and feeding your soul. But, at the same time, this can also lead to some unwanted weight gain which you definitely wouldn't want during the festivities. A chubbier face or bloated stomach is a big no when you have to dress your best for an outing. So, to make your parties guilt-free, nutritionist Pooja Malhotra has offered some tips that can help you avoid festive weight gain. Below are the tips listed by the nutritionist in her latest Instagram reel.
According to Pooja Malhotra, before you step out for the party, try munching some light and healthy snacks to that you don't reach the venue starving. This will keep your tummy a bit full and save you from gorging and destroying the buffet. A healthy home-cooked meal before the party is also advisable.
Once you are at the party, go easy on the alcohol and keep a check on your water intake after a round of drinks. It will prevent boating and water retention in your body the next day.
Try ditching the fried fish fingers and spring rolls and instead go for other relatively healthier starters like salads, corn, tikkas, and kebabs.
As you proceed towards the main course, try to skip foods that contain excessive carbs. And, if you can't help it, then skip the whole main course meal altogether.
No matter how tempting the fried chicken platter or sugar-loaded cocktail may look, eat only if you have space left in your tummy.

2 Ingredients Nutritionists Say No One Should Be Cooking With Anymore With Because They Make Weight Loss So Much Harder – SheFinds
Posted: October 12, 2022 at 2:03 am
Some unhealthy foods are no brainers to avoid when youre trying to lose weight: fattening donuts, salty potato chips, greasy cheeseburgers. However, a few detrimental ingredients may be sneaking their way into your daily diet without a second thought. Eating healthy isnt just about cutting out junk food; its also about making smart decisions when cooking your own meals, which is why its so important to be aware of which ingredients could be putting your goal weight at risk.
To discover some of the worst options out there, we spoke to health experts Lisa Richards, nutritionist and creator of The Candida Diet, andKrutika Nanavati, Registered Nutritionist and Dietitian. They pointed out two in particular you should cut down on whenever possible: refined flour and cooking oils.
The 100+ Best Beauty Launches Of 2022
Shutterstock
If you bake frequently, you likely go through a good amount of flour. However, Nanavati points out that you should be cautious of the refined variety because it can "sabotage your weight loss efforts." Yikes! This is mainly due to the fact that refined flour, like many processed ingredients, is "high in calories and has little nutritional value."
Additionally, another major risk of this ingredient is high blood sugar. Nanavati explains that "refined flour is higher on the glycemic index than whole wheat flour, meaning it raises your blood sugar levels more quickly. This can lead to increased hunger and cravings, and may contribute to weight gain," he warns. What's more, if you frequently indulge in foods made with refined flour, you're also putting yourself at a higher risk of type 2 diabetes and heart disease. "Instead, try using whole wheat flour or almond flour," Nanavati concludes.
Another common ingredient that could be wreaking havoc on your body and slowing your weight loss progress is none other than infamous cooking oils. "Oils are among the worst ingredients to cook with if you're wanting to lose weight," Richards tells us. "This is because they are very calorie-dense and provide little in the way of nutrients the body actually needs. Essentially, they are empty calories."
Of course, it's very difficult to cut all oil out of your diet for good, as some recipes can't do without them. However, Richards notes that they're not always necessary, especially in the high amounts many recipes call for. "For instance, when sauteing vegetables recipes will typically call for oil of some sort, about 2 tablespoons. This can be avoided by replacing oil for water or a low-calorie sauce like liquid aminos or balsamic vinegar," she says. Noted!
There's a similar story when it comes to cooking oil sprays, which she explains contain unnatural additives such as lecithin, "which acts as an emulsifier and dimethyl silicone which is an anti-foaming agent." One exception is avocado oil, which makes a great replacement to your typical cooking oil spray.
Switching up your diet and cooking habits surely isn't easy. However, if you want to see the fastest weight loss results possible, some sacrifices may be in order. That's why, whenever possible, choosing healthy alternatives to fattening ingredients like these is always your best bet.

Deontay Wilder reveals comeback, weight loss, and trainer decision – World Boxing News
Posted: October 12, 2022 at 2:03 am
Deontay Wilder has revealed his decision to lose weight, stave off retirement and commit his future to trainer Malik Scott.
The Bronze Bomber is ready to battle Robert Helenius on October 15 in a WBC heavyweight title eliminator bout this weekend.
Wilder, on the back of two losses to Tyson Fury, must beat the big Finn to have another chance at being a champion.
The Tuscaloosa fighter, who has 41 knockouts from 42 wins, needs to have his hands raised for a first victory since smashing Luis Ortiz in November 2019.
After sparring with Helenius for the third installment with Fury that got voted Fight of the Year for 2021, Wilder knows the contender well but remains wary of a real contest situation.
Ive never faced Helenius when it counts, so who knows what hes going to bring, said Wilder.
Everyone knows that fighters train harder than ever when they face me. Hopefully, well be able to bring that excitement on October 15.
Asked what his partnership with ex-heavyweight Malik Scott means to him, Wilder responded: Me and Malik Scott clicked instantly when we met helping Tomasz Adamek prepare for a fight years ago.
To be able to make him one of my head coaches was a no-brainer. Having people you trust and know have your back means so much.
Whats understood doesnt need to be explained.
Wilder stated how camp went with Scott: I can only speak on what Ive been doing in training and sparring. I would say I look amazing.
I havent lost any steps. If anything, Ive improved and gone back to the fundamentals. Ive added new aspects to my skillset.
Its really about applying some things that I used not to work on as much.
Visibly losing weight judging by images of camp for Fury and Helenius, Wilder said hes getting back to how things were before the The Gypsy King trilogy.
My weight is not going to be what we worry about in this fight or fights in the future. We gained a lot of weight the last fight, but it was more about the expectations of seeing my body a certain way.
Now Im going back to what Im used to and whats comfortable for me.
Contemplating retirement for weeks before making a comeback on Oct 15, Wilder explained that receiving an honor from his hometown in Alabama urged him to extend his legacy.
Seeing the statue made for me in Alabama is what brought me back. My accomplishments are set in stone.
But being there and seeing the people supporting me made me feel like theres more that I can do.
Im still young. Ive got three more years left in this business. Theres still a lot more left for me to do.
I dont feel any pressure. Im soaking in my happiness and peace. This reign is about being happy.
I dont have anything to prove to anyone. Ive done an amazing job in my career. So now I want to do the things that make me happy.
Whatever we gain, thats a plus.
Wilder has many fights out there to keep him busy as part of a group containing the best heavyweights on the planet in Fury, Andy Ruiz Jr., and Oleksandr Usyk.
A fourth fight, a revenge mission with Fury, and a world title shot at Usyk are both on the cards after an expected Pay Per View battle with Ruiz next February in Las Vegas.
Meanwhile, facing Anthony Joshua remains unlikely as the Briton is continually kept away from the top punchers around the globe by promoter Eddie Hearn.
Fans on both sides of the Atlantic would undoubtedly like the fight. However, it seems off the menu as AJ looks to rebuild his failing career.
Dillian Whyte, an opponent Joshua has already knocked out, looks to be in the London mans future at some point.
Right now, all eyes are on the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The best puncher in the sport makes his eagerly-awaited return on PPV.
The last time Wilder campaigned at the famous New York venue, he blasted out Dominic Breazeale in the first round.
WBN was ringside to witness a hellacious demolition before going backstage to a press conference as Wilder held court in his pomp.
Three years older, it will be interesting to see how the defeats to Fury have affected his mentality against other opponents.
In the past, we were used to seeing The Bronze Bomber disregard boxing skills in favor of landing that single punch.
Against Fury the last time, Wilder was forced to box more to allow himself to hit the target. Will he do that against Helenius with another big right hand?
It remains to be seen. But judging by the size of the Scandinavian boxing star, the trilogy performance against Fury would be sufficient to get the job done.
Al Haymon of Premier Boxing Champions hopes things go to plan. He can then work on Wilder and Ruizs WBC title final eliminator next year.
Ruiz did his part by defeating Luis Ortiz last month. However, in his previous triumph, he couldnt knock Ortiz out, as Wilder did in November 2019 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
The one-punch ending was one of Wilders best KOs.

Can intermittent fasting or calorie restriction slow the aging process? – University of Alabama at Birmingham

UAB Nutrition researchers are investigating whether calorie restriction or intermittent fasting can slow the aging process.
Researchers at the University of Alabama at Birmingham are recruiting participants for a new study that investigates whether intermittent fasting or calorie restriction, i.e., losing weight, can slow the aging process and make people younger.
Courtney Peterson, Ph.D., associate professor in the Department of Nutrition Sciences and site lead investigator, says this is the largest study on record investigating the effects of intermittent fasting on aging.
With this study, we want to accomplish several goals find out how easy it is to stick to these two diets long term, how much we can slow aging and improve overall health, and finally whether we can on a molecular level, such as regenerate stem cells, which would be very exciting, Peterson said.
Along with the Pennington Biomedical Research Center, UAB is recruiting 50 participants for the six-month study. Participants are randomly assigned either a calorie restrictive diet, intermittent fasting or to continue their usual diet. Those who are selected for calorie restriction will lose weight by eating less, while those who fast intermittently will fast for 16 hours per day and eat dinner by 6 p.m. about six days per week, with one break day per week. The study provides intensive coaching and support to help participants successfully lose weight or practice intermittent fasting.
Eligible participants should be ages 25-45, take no medications, be healthy, and have a BMI between 22 and 30 kg/m2.
