Ahn Jae Hong recently sat down for an interview to promote his new comedy film, We Wont Hurt You (literal translation).
During the interview, he was asked aboutwhether he had gone on a diet recently. He responded, It was just something I did for the role. He further explained that he wanted to get rid of hissofter, cuter image to embrace the desperate, edgy character of Tae Soo for the film, and lost about 10 kilograms (about 22 pounds).
He went on, A lot of people ask me about my weight loss and it makes me cringe. I cant talk about it anymore. Like other people, I lost weight in a healthy way by controlling what I ate and exercising. It was just part of the normal preparations to get into character. With every new production and every new character, there is an image you need to fulfill. Thats just part of your job.
He continued, Tae Soo is a very different character from the characters Ive played before. Thats why I was ambitious to play him. He has a sensitive nature and longs desperately for something. He has a strong sense of purpose as well as an inferiority complex, and I wanted that to show in his external appearance as well.
He concluded that he is not particularly invested in dieting currently. I am maintaining my weight, and its embarrassing that people are saying I lost weight when I didnt even lose that much. If I take on a character that has more weight, then I will probably gain it back really fast. If necessary, I think I could lose more as well.
WeWont Hurt You is a film based on a webtoon about a lawyer who unexpectedly becomes the director of a failing zoo and orders the employees to pretend to be the animalsthat were sold and sent away.

As a young mother with four years old twin girls and a baby boy of eight months Claudia Murray decided to change her life following words that made her stop and think of how her weight and health was affecting her life with her precious little ones.
Why cant you mammy? Why cant you come play? her girls asked her.
At 24-years-old Claudia felt the time to change is now.
Lets start my story, with 17 stone very unhappy with myself me, Claudia said. I was tired all the time, always angry, upset, feeling down which in turn made me eat anything most of which were high calorie, fatty foods. I would order takeaway nearly every night for myself and my family. It got to the point where I wasnt even enjoying it, I just wanted it Claudia told us.
My kids use to ask me every day to go out and go jump on the trampoline with them or play football with them. My answer was always no sorry, mammy cant, they would always reply asking me why cant you mammy?. I never gave them an explanation as I was always so embarrassed. Eventually, it got to the point where they stopped asking me, I assume because they didnt want to be rejected again. That absolutely broke my heart.

Claudias mother and sister were already members of Slimming World and so decided she would tag along to group and see how she got on, and what it was all about. Not having any faith in herself that she would actually stick to it due to failing before with other plans.
That feeling completely changed when I walked in the doors and was met by a very friendly consultant who instantly made me feel relaxed and reassured me that I 100% could reach my dream weight.
Tina, my consultant told me that at Slimming World I would never be hungry and that I would not have to stop eating my favourite meals. I was delighted to hear that I could choose my own personal weight loss target, which I set straight away, although I didnt have to. My first weigh-in came around and I was delighted to see I had lost 4lbs, Claudia beamed.
I was so scared to talk in group but I soon realised how lovely and supportive all the members are. It's such a safe place to share the good weeks and most importantly to share the struggles of a not so good week, said Claudia.

Id start my day with an apple, after following a 12-hour intermittent fast. In the next 12 hours, Id eat fruits, raw salads and green juice made from wheat grass.
My lunch would comprise brown rice (small portion) with legumes or lentils and salad. Dinner comprised a variety of water-rich vegetables with some protein. After following this diet pattern for a while, I moved on to a whole-foods plant based diet and also included lemon water in my diet and 2 cups of green tea.Apart from eating healthy, Rohit also followed the below weight loss exercise regime.
I started walking daily. After my vitamin D levels improved, I started jogging. Slowly, I added stretching and weight training to this daily routine as well.
"I follow these 6 principles: finger, fork, feet, sleep, stress and love. I think that they are great tips to keep in mind for anyone whos trying to lose weight."
Finger: No smoking
Fork: Watch what you eat
Feet: Movement, walk, run or swim
Sleep: At least 6-7 hours
Stress: Accept and let go of things that are not in your hand
Love: Spend time with family vs staying glued to the TV or mobile

Actor Ethan Suplee reveals weight loss in ‘American Glutton’ podcast – TODAY

Ethan Suplee kicked off the new year by revealing his weight loss transformation on social media, leaving fans stunned at the change.
The 43-year-old actor is opening up about his weight loss journey in a new podcast, in which he talks to guests and experts on various health and fitness topics.
In the debut episode of his podcast, American Glutton, Suplee goes into detail about his personal weight gain and weight loss over the past 20 years and how he has made it to where he is now.
The My Name is Earl actor revealed that his unhealthy relationship with food started around the time he was 5 years old, when his grandparents began to limit the food they gave him.
By the time he was 10, Suplee weighed more than 200 pounds, prompting his father to put him on a diet. Eventually, Suplee's mother pulled him off the diet but this sparked more years of weight gain. Suplee says on the podcast that he estimates that he's gained and lost nearly 1,000 pounds and "done all the diets."

I had this idea now that food was something that people didnt want me to have, he recalled, after his grandparents expressed concerns about his weight. So if I wanted to have more, I needed to do it privately, and it became something that I was withholding from people.
Suplees binge eating habit followed him into his adolescent years.
I kind of didnt think about weight loss again until I was 20, he revealed. It just wasnt something I thought about.
By the time he was in his twenties, Suplee says, "I was numbing myself out with food, alcohol and drugs."
The Boys Meets World actor revealed his weight gain posed challenges, particularly when it came to flying in airplanes. "I remember once I got a seat belt extension and even with the seat belt extension, I couldn't get it closed. I'd always buy two seats."
After being set up with a Beverly Hills doctor by a friend, Suplee said he started a new diet, eating small cans of tuna with a single cracker and only drinking water.
I guess I enjoyed having lost weight, but it wasnt my decision, so it was just something I was doing, he revealed.
Suplee got sober in 2002 but his weight continued to fluctuate. At his heaviest, Suplee says he was 530 pounds and at his lowest, he was 220 pounds.
Despite his dramatic weight loss and dropping hundreds of pounds, Suplee says he it hasn't been easy to book more acting jobs after "My Name Is Earl" was cancelled in 2009.
At some point I was like, Well f---, Im just gonna get fat again because maybe itll be better for work,' he revealed. And honestly, it was.
But this year, Suplee isn't interested in gaining all of his weight back. Now, his goal is to reexamine his perspective on food and get a six-pack. "I have my vain goal. I'm going after that. I want to dead lift twice my weight."

It is OK everyone breathe. It is here again the beginning of a New Year and countless resolutions or goals to lose weight. Remember that our weight loss journeys are honorable pursuits and a great way to care for our health and ourselves. Here are some things to keep in mind if you are planning to take off pounds this year.
How much do I need to lose? We know that even as little as 5% of body weight loss is shown to reduce risks of chronic disease like Type II diabetes and heart disease. For someone that is 200 pounds thats 10 pounds of weight loss. That amount is realistic, attainable and very likely to improve your health. More importantly, you show yourself that you are capable of weight loss, that those changes you made to your lifestyle, like avoiding high calorie beverages and upping your fruits and veggies, can make a difference.
Resolve to be specific. Everyone is different, but we know that extra calories will cause anyone to gain weight. Therefore, finding a way to reduce your calorie intake should be specific to your habits and taste preferences. Replacing high calorie drinks with water, cutting restaurant portions in half and avoiding sides like fries or chips are specific and can help if these are part of your everyday routine, but they might not apply to everyone. In that case, take a good and honest look at your food habits and make some substitutions or reductions. If skipping fries is a non-starter then you can reduce the portion size or plan to balance them out throughout the day.
Be patient This isnt quick and can be a long effort. Half a pound of weight loss in a week is fantastic progress, especially for those that are small in stature or older. Half a pound a week might not seem like a lot, but that amounts to 2 pounds of weight loss each month. In five months, that will turn into 10 pounds of body weight loss. Think about that. If someone had told you at the beginning of August that you could lose 10 pounds by the beginning of the year, you would be thrilled.

Allurion nets $34M to market its swallowable weight-loss balloon – FierceBiotech

Gastric weight-loss balloon manufacturer Allurion Technologies has raised $34 million in new funding to boost its commercialization efforts and entry into the U.S. market, pending FDA approval.
Through a securities financing and a growth capital term loan, the round was led by Novalis LifeSciences and Romulus Capital, with additional backing from IDO Investments and former Covidien CEO Jose Almeida. The loan was provided by Bridge Bank.
The former Fierce 15 winner also plans to use the proceeds to fuel its international growth as it pursues its U.S. regulatory blessing. Allurion previously completed enrolling participants in a pivotal trial of its Elipse Balloon and outpatient procedure and plans to submit its premarket application to the FDA in the next 12 months.

The companys gastric balloon system is designed to be placed without surgery or anesthesia. Intermittent Fasting Offers Benefits Beyond Weight Loss, Article Suggests – Everyday Health

Each new year brings fresh proclamations about the best ways to lose weight and get healthier. Theres a lot of hype around extreme diets that have little research to support them, but an article published in December 2019 in The New England Journal of Medicine suggests that one popular approach intermittent fasting (IF) may be worth considering.
Research findings suggest that there are many changes that occur in the body and brain in response to IF that can improve health and protect against chronic diseases, says study coauthor Mark Mattson, PhD, a neuroscientist at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore.
[Benefits] include improved glucose regulation, reduced blood pressure and resting heart rate, reduced inflammation, and improved muscle health, Dr. Mattson says.
In the article, researchers examined results from studies in animals and humans that focused on how IF may impact health markers such as metabolism and how IF may slow or reverse aging and disease.

IF is an eating pattern [that] includes extended time periods during which no or very little food and caloric beverages are consumed, Mattson says.
There are many types of IF, but Mattson sees these practiced most frequently:
Several animal studies and some preliminary research in humans have shown that alternating between times of fasting and eating may support cellular health, probably by triggering an age-old adaptation to periods of food scarcity called metabolic switching, according to studies cited in the new article.
This switch happens when cells use up their stores of readily accessible glucose, or sugars, and begin converting fat into energy in a slower metabolic process. It normally takes about 16 hours without food for metabolic switching to occur, Mattson says.
During fasting, the liver converts fatty acids into ketones, a type of fuel released into the bloodstream when stores of glucose run out. Ketones also regulate the activity of many proteins and molecules that are known to influence health and aging.
As part of this process, IF triggers a stress response that increases the bodys antioxidant defenses against free radicals that damage cells and tissues, boosts DNA repair, removes damaged proteins, and curbs inflammation, animal studies have found. These processes can slow aging and are suppressed in people who overeat, researchers note in the article.
Time-restricted feeding (a form of intermittent fasting) has been shown to reprogram age-related pathways in our genes and may have an out with the old, in with the new effect on our cells and cell machinery, says Felicia Steger, PhD, of the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Steger was not involved with the current article.
Fasting gives our cells and tissues a break from processing and storing calories, and allows time to repair and regenerate, Steger says.

Decades of animal studies have linked calorie restriction and IF directly to an increased life span in mice and rats, but results in animals have been mixed, and there arent long-term studies in humans.
Both animals and humans have experienced improved physical function with IF that might also contribute to longevity, according to the article.
For example, mice with similar weight in one referenced study published in December 2014 in Cell Metabolism had more running endurance with IF than with unlimited access to food. And in another study published in October 2016 in the Journal of Translational Medicine, young men who fasted 16 hours a day lost fat while maintaining muscle mass during two months of resistance training.
If may also help slow aging processes in the brain, some research in animals and people suggests.
Studies in animals show that IF improves cognition, with gains in things like spatial memory, which is needed for navigation and recalling where things are located; associative memory, which is needed to understand the relationships between unrelated things; and working memory, which is needed for reasoning. IF also appears to reverse the negative effects of obesity, diabetes, and inflammation on spatial learning and memory in animals.
In a clinical trial published in theProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, older adults improved verbal memory with IF. In another study of older adults with mild cognitive impairment, published in March 2016 in The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, IF was associated with improvements in verbal memory, executive function, and global cognition after 12 months. And a separate clinical trial published online in April 2019 in CNS Spectrums found that two years of daily calorie restriction led to better working memory.
In addition to the aforementioned benefits, the article suggests IF may modify risk factors associated with obesity and diabetes, says Mattson.
Six short-term studies of overweight and obese adults have found that IF works as well as standard diets for weight loss specifically.
Two studies found that IF is associated with a reversal of insulin resistance, the bodys failure to respond normally to the hormone insulin, which is a hallmark of type 2 diabetes.

While many human studies in the article have had encouraging results, much of the research cited is from studies that are too small and too brief to draw broad conclusions about long-term outcomes, the article authors caution.
We dont have long-term studies looking at adherence, which we know is absolutely key to successful lifestyle change, says Steger.
We also dont have nuanced results to individualize recommendations or clinical care, Steger adds. For instance, we dont know if healthy individuals gain any benefit to restricting the eating window in terms of preventing disease.
Its also important to keep in mind that IF does not give you permission to binge on pizza, doughnuts, cheeseburgers, and hot fudge sundaes.
While intermittent fasting can lead to modest weight loss, changing when you eat is probably not as effective as changing what you eat because losing weight ultimately depends on eating fewer calories than your body needs, Steger says. Intermittent fasting can lead to modest weight loss alone but will be more effective when combined with traditional weight management recommendations to reduce calories and increase exercise.
Fasting may also work best when paired with healthy eating habits, like a Mediterranean diet rich in fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grains, fish, and unsaturated fats. Meanwhile, other people may combine IF with the popular ketogenic diet in the hope of supercharging their weight loss, though many experts caution that research on this combined approach is lacking.
IF is not distinct necessarily from a Mediterranean diet or other eating plans, says Susan Roberts, PhD, a professor of nutrition at Tufts University in Massachusetts, and founder of the iDiet weight loss program. You can do them both together.
Its possible that IF may offer benefits even when people dont have good eating habits, but those benefits wont necessarily be significant, says Dr. Roberts, who wasalso not involved in the article.

Some people shouldnt try IF, including pregnant or nursing women, children, the elderly, and individuals with any history of eating disorders, says Krista Varady, PhD, a professor of nutrition at the University of Illinois in Chicago. People with diabetes and some other chronic health problems should consult with a doctor before doing IF, Dr. Varady adds. (She also was not involved in the current article.)
Getting started with IF may mean tolerating side effects like headaches, nausea, constipation, and irritability, Varaday says. Most of these problems come from failing to drink enough water.
People dont realize theres so much water in foods that theyre not getting when they start fasting, and they get hangry and irritable, Varady says. If you just do eight glasses of water a day, youll probably be fine.
While no serious side effects have been seen with short-term IF regimens, little is known about the long-term outcomes.
The big question is whether it is healthy for the long term and manageable for more than a tiny percent of the population, says Roberts. There may be side effects with implications for long-term health that are not apparent for months, or even years.
For now, there are only about 25 to 30 studies of IF in humans, Varady says. Much more research is needed that follows people beyond 12 months.
Steger agrees that more long-term research is needed. The intermittent fasting field is still young, and we dont have long-term data on sustainability, nor do we have feasibility for different groups of people, Steger says. While IF may benefit many (or most) people, it may not work for everyone.

Rebel Wilson has continued to show off her weight loss and the hard work of her exercise regime and it seems her fans are pretty impressed.
The 39-year-old took to Instagram with a snap of herself donning a red top paired with shades, while her hair was styled in a half-up, half-down hairstyle.
And fans couldnt help but compliment the actress on her look, after she declared 2020 her year of health.
How did you lose weight? You look amazing, one wrote as another added: You look awesome, youve done amazingly in such a short space of time.
And others agreed, adding: You look gorgeous! Please help me get motivated! I would love to get healthy this year.

Rebel has been working hard to keep healthy after she enlisted the help of personal trainer Gunnar Peterson last year, and she recently revealed how she aims to cut down on junk food over the next 12 months.

Sharing a series of photos of herself posing on the beach, she told her Instagram followers: Okay so for me, 2020 is going to be called The Year Of Health.
So I put on the athleisure and went out for a walk, deliberately hydrating on the couch right now and trying to avoid the sugar and junk food which is going to be hard after the holidays Ive just had but Im going to do it!

The Cats star previously revealed that when she first moved to the US in 2010, she was living on tortilla chips and guacamole as she only had $60 (46) to spend per week.
Speaking on 2Day FMs Grant, Ed and Ash, Rebel explained: When I first moved to the States, I had to sell everything that I owned: my car, my computer, my apartment, everything. And I came with one suitcase, a doona [duvet] and a pillow.
And I actually lived on well I pad for a furnished apartment so I had somewhere to stay, but I lived on $60 a week, which is not much.
Id go to this supermarket called Trader Joes and get corn chips and stuff and I was surviving on corn chips and guacamole.
Tasty, but not exactly healthy.
