Nutritionist revealed the truth about rapid weight loss – The Saxon
Posted: December 23, 2019 at 5:42 am
Many people want to lose weight as quickly as possible and for this ready to sit on a hard diet and severely restrict your diet. However, is it safe for health? Nutritionist Natalia Koshkina, who previously shared a simple plan of diet for everyone, said on his page on Instagram, what can cause such an undertaking.
She revealed the truth about how dangerous the lack of sugar and carbs in the diet, excessive low calorie and other hard constraints that require a lot of marathons for weight loss.
1. Slowing of metabolic processes.
With poor nutrition pretty quickly the body go into starvation mode and stops wasting energy. Ie you cant eat, but do not lose weight. It is insulting and pointless.
2. Loss of muscle mass.
With the rapid weight loss and protein deficiency the first thing that suffers is your muscles. They begin to split along with fat. And this is extremely undesirable, as your muscles a major consumer of energy. And the amount of muscle mass is very important from the point of view of reducing weight in the long term.
What you get with mindless fast weight loss? You reduce body weight mainly due to muscle breakdown and excretion of fluids from the body. When you return to the previous diet, the weight starts to come back, too but not at the expense of muscle and fat! Ie you find yourself in a worse situation than before.
3. Eating disorders.
Weight loss should be safe not only for health but also for the psyche. If you have this predisposition, it is a hard limit trigger mechanism. In some cases, it is not just violations, and PSC. And the treatment of RPP is psychotherapy with a duration of more than one year.
But dont despair. You can lose weight quickly and without consequences, if you really need. But with a competent nutritional and psychological support.
Do not experiment with their health in pursuit of easy prey! Better yet, be patient: work on changing eating behavior, develop healthy habits and have fun.

Chia seeds health benefits: Chia seeds are one of the healthiest varieties of seeds that are weight loss friendly. They are rich in fibre, protein, good fats, calcium, manganese, magnesium and phosphorus. There are a number of ways you can include chia seeds in your diet. You can sprinkle them in your salads for that extra crunch, or you can have them as part of nuts and seeds trail mix. Another interesting way of consuming chia seeds is by adding them into water. All you need to do is add chia seeds into water, and consume it first thing in the morning or any other time of the day.

Dad was 23 stone and too fat to fit on ride at Alton Towers – but look at him now – ExaminerLive
Posted: December 21, 2019 at 10:49 pm
A dad was shamed into losing half his body weight when he was too fat to fit on an Alton Towers ride.
Blake Lewis, 33, weighed 23 stone and was left humiliated when he was told he was too big to get on the ride with his young daughter.
He was at the park with his wife Laura, 35, and their children Sophie, five, and Toby, six, on May 29 last year.
But Blake was unable to ride the Go Jetters Vroomster Zoom roundabout-style ride in CBeebies Land because the safety bar wouldnt fit over his large belly.
The dad was then left red-faced as he was then ordered off the ride for health and safety reasons leaving his daughter in tears.
It led to Blake going on a diet and in just under 18 months, he lost an impressive 10 stone - dropping from a 40 inch waist size to a 32 inch.
Blake did not join any weight loss groups and managed to reach 12-and-a-half stone all by himself as a result of healthy eating and regular exercise.
Blake, a care assistant from Derbyshire, said: "I had always wanted to lose weight ever since having children but never had the will power.
Id take my children to the park and play with them and thought I could probably run better than a lot of slim people.
I did hear about some of my overweight friends getting diagnosed with heart disease and type 2 diabetes, but it was not fitting in the ride that did it for me.
My daughter Sophie didnt understand why we couldnt go on the ride because we had sat down alright.
I knew I was big but when I couldnt get the belt over my stomach I thought: This doesnt happen to people every day. Something is not right.
We were told to get off and Sophie was upset because she had to wait while her brother went on the ride with her mum. There were a few tears.
There was no nastiness from anyone but from that point I said to myself: I cant let this happen again.
I imagined other people in the queue were thinking Oh dear. I probably would have thought the same.
"That's when I thought enough was enough and I needed to do something about my size."
Blake had piled on the pounds with his addiction to junk food and would often gorge on takeaways, burgers, fries or crisps.
But he reduced his food intake from up to five thousand to a thousand calories a day by cooking healthier meals and freezing them for the week.
Blake also started walking the one-and-a half mile journey to work and set up a homemade gym in his garage.
He added: "I saw myself as addicted to junk food, mainly savoury things like pies, burgers, fries, and crisps.
Now if I see a pork pie Im not bothered but before I thought: Ive got to have it.
"I could devour three to five thousand calories a day, sometimes more.
But now Ive gone cold turkey I dont get the cravings anymore.
Its all about will power, being disciplined and cutting out the rubbish.
Some of my friends and family say Im an inspiration and a few colleagues at work who want to lose weight ask for advice.
I tell them to do what I did and Google healthy foods and recipes. They key is meal prepping.
Every Sunday Id prepare healthy meals and freeze them or put them in the fridge.
When Id come home hungry Id have one instead of burger and chips.
I did it completely by myself. I didnt go to Slimming World or Weight Watchers or anything like that.
Stick at it hard for the first few weeks then youll be encouraged when the pounds start coming off.
I have a slim blend vanilla milkshake in the morning which replaces breakfast and lunch then lean meat with vegetables in the evening.
I dont snack and I drink diet coke instead of a litre of full-fat stuff I used to.
I stopped driving to work and started walking. I run a bit and set up a gym in the garage. My family and friends were very pleased for me.
Some were concerned that the weight dropped off so quickly that Id make myself poorly.
"In fact, Ive never been healthier.

Majority of Cushing’s Syndrome Patients Experience Normalization of High Blood Pressure Within 10 Days After Surgery – Cushing’s Disease News
Posted: December 21, 2019 at 10:49 pm
People with Cushings syndrome often experience a rise in blood pressure that puts them at a significant risk of cardiovascular ills, but most improve within 10 days after surgery to treat theirhypercortisolism, a study found.
Nonetheless, fewer than half see their blood pressure normalized within one year of surgical cure, suggesting that blood pressure should be monitored in the immediate post-surgical period, and antihypertensive medications adjusted to avoid cardiovascular problems.
The study, Remission of hypertension after surgical cure of Cushings Syndrome, was published in the journal Clinical Endocrinology.
Cushings syndrome develops when the body makes too much of the hormone cortisol, often due to tumors in the pituitary or adrenal glands. Surgical removal of the tumor is a standard treatment for the disease.
High blood pressure (hypertension) is a Cushings syndrome hallmark, and a major risk factor for cardiovascular injury, but usually returns to normal or near normal within one year of surgery. However, the exact timing and predictors of blood pressure improvement in these patients are not known.
A group of researchers at the National Institutes of Healthexamined data from 75 Cushings syndrome patients 72 with ACTH-producing tumors, and three with an adrenal tumor who had high blood pressure and whose cortisol levels returned to normal after surgery to remove their tumors.
Their main goal was to determine the proportion of patients whose high blood pressure also dropped to healthy levels (below 130/80 mmHg), either without the use of anti-hypertensive medications or with continued medication or whose hypertension eased enough to allow a decline in doses of anti-hypertensive medications used.
Another goal was to assess the time it took for their blood pressure to drop, which these researchers thought for most would be within 10 days of surgery. They also speculated that younger age, a shorter duration of excess cortisol and high blood pressure, a milder severity of hypertension and obesity, and greater post-surgical weight loss would be predictors (most likely factors in) hypertension remission.
At the time of their hospital discharge 10 days after surgery 23% of the patients showed no evidence of hypertension, and 68% showed some easing in it. In total, with or without medication, blood pressure was normal in 50% of these patients, and those on medications were using a median of one fewer blood pressure medication than they were before surgery.
Patients were then followed for another three, six, and 12 months. Overall, 44% achieved remission within one year after surgery which was not sustained in 3% of them and an additional 48% showed improvement. Hypertension remained a problem for six patients (8%), which researchers suggested may be attributable to hypertension that is not related to Cushings or a genetic tendency to be hypertensive.
Younger age and a lower preoperative body mass index (BMI) a measure of body fat were seen as significant factors associated with a return to normal blood pressure after Cushings-induced hypertension.
But the duration of hypertension, severity of excess cortisol, magnitude of post-surgical weight loss, or race were not relevant factors, the study reported.
Our data show that approximately 80% patients with co-existing hypertension and [excess cortisol] experience remission or improvement of hypertension within 10-days of surgical cure, and a further 10% achieve remission or improvement by one year, the researchers concluded.
Additionally, the prompt normalization of blood pressure after normalization of cortisol underscoresthe utility of blood pressure as a marker of possible CS [Cushings syndrome], especially in young individuals who areunlikely to develop essential hypertension, they noted.

Skipping Dinner For Weight Loss? Here’s Why You Must Stop This Practice Instantly – NDTV News

Weight Loss: Skipping dinner can cause sleep disturbances and make you feel lack of energy
Weight loss diet: Eating a healthy dinner is important for your body. In fact, to stay healthy and in shape, you should not skip any meals and try to get optimum nutrition in every meal, says nutritionist Rupali Datta. In this article, we are going to talk about the importance of eating healthy dinners, and why you must not skip dinners, even if you are trying to lose weight. Dinner ought to be light, yet nutritious. It is the last meal of the day after you which you fast for 10-12 hours. Skipping dinner can make you feel lethargic and weak, and may even cause sleep disturbances.
You must eat all your three meals, each in set quantities, says Dr Rupali. "The body has a certain limit for digestion and assimilation. It is not wise to skip one meal and club it another meal," she explains.
Also read:5 Underrated Health Benefits Of Eating Dinner Early
She goes on to add that dinner is important because you are going to fast for a long period of time after that. "Eating a healthy dinner allows you to experience sufficient energy through the night and the next morning. It helps the body nourish itself and maintains a healthy metabolic rate," says Dr Rupali.
At night time, your body is exhausted from the day and dinner provides the nourishment you need, before going to bed. Eating your lunch at around 2.30-3 pm, and then skipping dinner and not having your next meal until 9 am the next day, is too long a gap. "In such a long gap, the body begins to cannibalising it's own energy stores. So, it is important to eat light, but nutritious dinners," Dr Rupali asserts.
What's more is that skipping dinner can lead to acidity, constipation, heartburn, etc. At times, it may make you feel hungry at the middle of the night and make room for sugar cravings. Not only does this interfere with your weight loss regime, but also cause sleep disturbance.

Now that it has been established that eating dinners is important for your health, let's take a look at some healthy options you can bank on for dinner. Following are some quick, healthy and weight loss-friendly dinner options by Dr Rupali that you must try:
Make sure that there is a gap of 2 hours between your dinner and bed time. You can plan your day in a way that dinner is half-prepared by the time you reach home. Keeping a gap before dinner and bedtime can promote good sleep and prevent acidity, bloating etc.
Practice portion control and avoid eating deep fried or carb-heavy meal for dinner.

Half of America will be obese within 10 years, study says, unless we work together – WITI FOX 6 Milwaukee
Posted: December 20, 2019 at 5:49 pm
If America does not collectively adopt healthier eating habits, over half of the nation will be obese within 10 years.
Even worse, one in four Americans will be severely obese with a body mass index over 35, which means they will be more than 100 pounds overweight.
That alarming prediction, published Wednesday in NEJM, was the result of a study analyzing 26 years of self-reported body mass index (BMI)data from over six million American adults.
Considering the challenges of battling weight loss, thats devastating news for the future health of our nation.
Given how notoriously difficult obesity is to treat once its established, you can see that were in an untenable situation, said Aviva Must, chair of Tufts Universitys Public Health and Community Medicine, who was not involved in the study.
The societal cost is high, she said, both in terms of obesity-related health consequences and healthcare expenditures which could bring us to our knees.
One of the first research efforts to drill down to the state level, the study found that 29 states, mostly in the South and Midwest, will be hit the hardest, with more than 50% of their residents considered obese.
But no part of the country is spared in all 50 states, at least 35% of the population will be obese, the study found.
Whats even more concerning is the rise in severe obesity, said lead author Zachary Ward, an analyst at Harvard Chan Schools Center for Health Decision Science.
Nationally, severe obesity typically over 100 pounds of excess weight will become the most common BMI category, Ward said. Prevalence will be higher than 25% in 25 states.
Currently, only 18% of all Americans are severely obese. If the trend continues, the study said, severe obesity would become as prevalent as overall obesity was in the 1990s.
The study also found certain subpopulations to be most at risk for severe obesity: women, non-Hispanic black adults and low-income adults who make less than $50,000 per year.
And we find that for very low-income adults adults with less than $20,000 annual household income severe obesity will be the most common BMI category in 44 states, Ward said. So basically everywhere in the country.
Fifty years ago, obesity was a relatively rare condition, Must said. People who were poor were underweight, not overweight. But that has changed.
One reason is the rise of sugar-sweetened beverages and ultra-processed foods, which contribute calories but little nutrition. Another is that the price of food, including unhealthy fast food choices, has fallen in America when you adjust for inflation.
Low food prices are certainly part of it, Must said. Also limited options for physical activity. And theres a lot being written about the stress of structural racism and how that influences peoples behavioral patterns. So its very complicated.
Theres no rosy picture here, but I dont think we can throw in the towel, Must said. It will probably take lots of federal, state and local policy interventions and regulations to have a big impact. We cant rely on individual behavior change in an environment that is so obesity promoting.
Studies have shown some promising tactics, she said: bolstering local public transportation systems to encourage walking instead of driving; keeping schools open on weekends and during summers to allow access to gyms and swimming pools; and increasing support for farm-to-school and farm-to-work food programs, as well as farmers markets, to boost access to low-cost fruits and vegetables.
Other interventions include calorie labeling on restaurant and drive-thru menus and replacing vending machines with smart snacks in schools.
Weve also looked at eliminating the tax deduction businesses get for advertising unhealthy foods to children, Ward said. The money that they spend on advertising foods can basically be written off as a tax deduction.
That could be one reason why we see such disparities by race, ethnicity or income, Ward said, because companies are directly targeting advertising at these groups.
In aprior study, Ward and his team at Harvard found that three interventions saved more in health care coststhan the price to implement them: elimination of the tax deduction on advertising; improving nutrition standards for school snacks, and imposing an excise tax on sugary beverages.
The most cost-effective solution was the tax on sugar-sweetened beverages. The study found the tax saved $30 in health care costs for every dollar spent on the program.
So much added sugar is delivered through sugar-sweetened beverages, and people do have other options for hydration, Must said. I think its an easy target.
But not necessarily a popular one. Still, the complexity of the problem means that a solution will truly take a village, experts say, with every American doing their part.
I dont think its impossible, Must said, pointing to a slowing of the obesity rate in children in America. That trend is the result of interventions in school lunches; snack programs; and a change in the nutritional allowances in the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children, which helps feed more than seven million pregnant and postpartum women and children until age five.
In 2009 the program decreased the intake of foods and beverages associated with excess weight gain. By simply cutting the juice allowance in half, reducing cheese, requiring whole grain products and requiring low-fat or skim milk,a study found the programreduced the obesity rate in children between two and four years of age and boosted the intake of fruits and vegetables.
That is certainly a model for future attempts among both children and adults, Ward said, adding that if Americans could just keep their current weight instead of gaining, the trends could be reversed.
Its really hard to lose weight, Ward said. Its really hard to treat obesity. So prevention really has to be at the forefront of efforts to combat this growing epidemic.

Anthony Joshuas trainer reveals weight loss was key to Andy Ruiz Jr win and slams critics for downplaying p – The Sun
Posted: December 20, 2019 at 5:49 pm
ANTHONY JOSHUA'S trainer Angel Fernandez believes the boxer trimming down was key to his revenge win against Andy Ruiz Jr.
Back on December 7 out in Saudi Arabia the Brit secured an easy points win against a man who had previously floored him four times on the way to a KO win.
4
It meant Joshua regained back his heavyweight world titles and once his mandatory fights are out the way he could fight Deontay Wilder and/or Tyson Fury.
Despite the manner of victory AJ was slammed in some quarter for his "hit and don't get hit" tactics.
Some boxing fans even labelled him "a ballerina" in the aftermath of his one-sided success.
And Fernandez is shocked that his man was criticised despite become a two-time heavyweight champion.
Asked whether losing muscle mass contributed to the victory, Fernandez told World Boxing News:Big time. Hes just a person who learns very quick.
We couldnt go and engage with Ruiz because hes got very fast hands.
"Some people just try to take the credit away from Joshua but if you just watch the first fight and then the second fight, Joshua didnt allow Ruiz to do what he did to him in the first fight.
He took those strengths away from him.
Now that the celebrating is coming to a close, Joshua is already thinking about his own fight prep.
SunSport reported that he had offered to spar with fellow Brit Tyson Fury to help him prepare for his own rematch - against Wilder on February 22.
The Gypsy King posted on social media welcoming the offer, saying that he'd "love" to train with AJ.
But Fury's promoter Frank Warren isn't so keen, and now claims Joshua is "backing out" of the chance.
Speaking toThe MetroWarren said: "Thats all nonsense. Joshua is already backing out of the offer.

The two boxers have sparred together previously - Fury admitting Joshua "gave him a beating" back in 2010.

Bell Relaxed and Ready Ahead of Big Bellator Fight – Lost Coast Outpost

Submitted photo Cass Bell will fight at Bellators Salute to the Troops on Friday night.
Humboldt Countys most famous MMA pro landed safely in Hawaii on Tuesday ahead of this Fridays big fight at Bellators Salute to the Troops.
Arcatas Cass Bell will try to extend his professional record to 5-0 when he takes on Pierre Daguzan, a seasoned professional himself with a record of 5-3.
Hes definitely a grinder, Bell said of his opponent, a French native. Hes got fast hands and he likes to go forward a lot.
Bell has ended all four of his professional fights in the opening two rounds and is confident of a repeat performance on Friday.
And his strategy hasnt changed for any one of his five fights.
My strategy is kind of like, I always play it off. Ill see what they want to do, said the versatilebantamweight fighter, who was an outstanding wrestler at Arcata High. Whether theyre pressing in, or they stay outside and make me go after them. And then I just capitalize on it.
Whatever they want to do Im comfortable with.
Preparations have been going smoothly, and Bell says he is exactly where he is supposed to be in terms of weight loss.
And he says he is looking forward to fighting for the troops.
Theyre working. Theyre not on vacation, and a lot of them will be away from their families at Christmas, Bell said. But they get to take time off that day and we get to perform in front of them.
Bells corner
Bell also paid special tribute to his corner, most notably trainer John Juan Thompson, who runs the Institute of Combat in Arcata, where Bell trains.
Hes been with me since the beginning and he taught me everything I know, from a mixed martial arts standpoint, the 32-year-old Bell said. His knowledge of the game and the sport is so huge. Were really lucky to have someone like him in Humboldt County.
Bell also thanked trainer Levi Cope and fellow fighter Tyson Miller, a younger pro who also fights out of the IOC and has been helping the more experienced pro with his preparation.
He helps push me, Bell said of Miller. Hes way bigger than me and training with the bigger guys really helps.
Most of my IOC teammates, they work as hard as me, if not harder, pushing me and making sure Im on point.
Fridays fight will be televised live on the Paramount Network as well as on the Bellator App, with the action getting under way at 6 p.m. Pacific Time.
Bells family arrived in town on Wednesday and he says hes looking forward to having them around.
The family will remain in Hawaii after the fight to spend Christmas there.
You can check out our interview with Cass Bell on this weeks Humboldt Sports Talk podcast.

Researchers Find Overspill of fat shown to cause Type 2 Diabetes – dLife.com
Posted: December 20, 2019 at 5:45 pm
For the first time, scientists have been able to observe people developing Type 2 diabetes and confirmed that fat over-spills from the liver into the pancreas, triggering the chronic condition.
The research, from Newcastle University in the U.K., involved a group of people from who previously had Type 2 diabetes but had lost weight and successfully reversed the condition as part of the DiRECT trial, which was funded by Diabetes UK and led by Professors Roy Taylor and Mike Lean (Glasgow University).
The majority remained non-diabetic for the rest of the two-year study, however, a small group went on to re-gain the weight and re-developed Type 2 diabetes.
Taylor, from the Newcastle University Institute of Translational and Clinical Research, explained what the advanced scanning techniques and blood monitoring revealed.
We saw that when a person accumulates too much fat, which should be stored under the skin, then it has to go elsewhere in the body, Taylor said. The amount that can be stored under the skin varies from person to person, indicating a personal fat threshold above which fat can cause mischief.
Taylor explained when fat cannot be safely stored under the skin, it is then stored inside the liver and over-spills to the rest of the body including the pancreas.
This clogs up the pancreas, switching off the genes which direct how insulin should effectively be produced, and this causes Type 2 diabetes, he said.
This research by Taylor confirms his Twin Cycle Hypothesis that Type 2 diabetes is caused by excess fat actually within both the liver and pancreas and especially that this process is reversible.
These latest findings build on previous Newcastle studies supported by Diabetes UK showing exactly why Type 2 diabetes can be reversed back to normal glucose control.
Those studies led to the large DiRECT trial which showed that Primary Care staff can achieve remission of Type 2 diabetes by using a low-calorie diet with support to maintain the weight loss.
A quarter of participants achieved a staggering 15 kg or more weight loss, and of these, almost nine out of 10 people put their Type 2 diabetes into remission. After two years, more than one-third of the group had been free of diabetes and off all diabetes medication for at least two years.
In 2020, this approach to the management of short-duration Type 2 diabetes is to be piloted in the NHS in up to 5,000 people across England, and a similar program is being rolled out in Scotland.
This means we can now see Type 2 diabetes as a simple condition where the individual has accumulated more fat than they can cope with, Taylor said. Importantly, this means that through diet and persistence, patients are able to lose fat and potentially reverse their diabetes. The sooner this is done after diagnosis, the more likely it is that remission can be achieved.
The team is continuing work to establish what may affect an individuals personal threshold and are supporting the roll-out of the NHS Initiatives in both England and Scotland.
Taylors book, Life Without Diabetes The definitive guide to understanding and reversing your Type 2 diabeteswill be published by Short Books on 26th December 2019.
The research is published in the academic journal,Cell Metabolism.
