If youve been watching Real Housewives of Orange County recently, youve seen how good Shannon Beador has been looking! The blonde beauty spoke withLife & Style exclusively about how shes been maintaining her new slim figure and how her boyfriend, John Janssen, supports her healthier lifestyle.
Im working on it, the 55-year-old said of her weight loss strides at the Vanderpump Dog Foundation Gala on November 21. Its diet. Id say 99 percent diet. But you can eat healthy and it still taste good. I just want to be at a healthy balance.
Plus, her new man is really encouraging when it comes to getting in the gym. We go to the same trainer, the insurance broker, 56, revealed. We need to maybe step it up a little bit, Shannon added with a laugh. Gaining a few happy pounds! But thats all good.
We all know how a little happy relationship weight can sneak up on you, so its great to see Shan so positive. Plus, shes even got her diet planned out for the upcoming holiday parties and events down the line.
So, do you hold off on all the delicious holiday delectables at the next function? In Shannons view, the answer is definitely n-o. You dont! she dished. You go and you eat the cake and the candy and thats OK because youre going to make good choices other days.
Back in March, theRHOC star started really showing off her new physique on Instagram and needless to say, fans were totally on board with the reality stars new bod. But the process started a few years prior for Shannon. Back in 2017, she revealed she was working with nutritionist and trainer Dr. Tim Ramierz. The Bravo babe said she was drinking 310 Shakes when she didnt have time to sit down for a meal and did 30 minutes of exercise a day.
According to the starlet, her feud with costarVicki Gunvalson was the source of her weight gain back in 2017. She told Life & Style exclusively that sheput on40 pounds in eight months after they stopped being pals. I ate and I drank and I was such a mess, she said. Well, it seems as though Shannon is on a better path now. You go, girl!

Weight loss is the top priority of millions across the world and for good reasons. One of the essential reasons behind the importance of shedding those extra kilos is diabetes, a hormonal condition characterized by high blood sugar. Affecting a large cross section of the global population, diabetes has been linked with obesity by scientists. In fact, there are innumerable studies stating that 9 in 10 people who suffer from type-2 diabetes is overweight.
It is not yet clear if there is any cause-and-effect link between obesity and diabetes. However, several studies have proved that being overweight can increase your risk of this condition and managing weight is essential for people suffering from high blood sugar levels.
Unfortunately, losing weight is a tough task for diabetics. Diabetics are unable to use insulin hormone in their body efficiently. This, in turn, leads to the increase of fat tissues in the body. Increased fat, on the other hand, reduces the bodys capacity use insulin sufficiently. Inefficient usage of insulin makes it tough for diabetics to metabolize sugar, leading to weight gain as a result. This is a vicious circle. Well, this may make it sound weight loss to be a mission impossible for people living with high blood sugar. Well, it is difficult, but not impossible.
According to the Joslin Diabetes Center, losing just 7 per cent of your body weight improves your insulin sensitivity by 57 per cent. By losing weight, you are improving your bodys glucose tolerance and insulin resistance while reducing the risk of common diabetes-related complications like eye diseases (retinopathy), neuropathy (nerve damage especially to your feet, which may lead to amputation), kidney failure, liver damage, high blood pressure, stroke, and heart disease.
According to the experts, if you are a diabetic, you need to target the fat around your waist first as central obesity is the greatest risk to your diabetes and its effects. Here are few ways in which a diabetes patient can lose weight.
While starting your weight loss plan, start by assessing what you are currently eating. To achieve this, the aim should be to strike a right balance between carbohydrates, fats and protein. You should cut back on carbohydrates from your diet. This is because, in order to digest carbohydrates, your pancreas has to release insulin, the hormone which is insufficiently produced or inefficiently used in case of a diabetic. If you have to eat carbohydrates make sure choose the ones that are less likely to spike your sugar level. Have carbs in the form of fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Other than cutting off carbohydrates, there is another step that you need to take in terms of food: Adding enough protein to your diet sufficiently. At least 20 percent of your diet should include lean protein, which is found in fish, tofu and chicken. When it comes to fat, leave out bad fats (saturated fats) and include good fats (unsaturated fats) found in canola oil flaxseeds, nuts, etc. Filling up on high fibre foods can help in keeping your blood sugar steady and your tummy full, reducing the frequency of meals. Consulting a nutritionist about your diet regimen is a must for a person living with diabetes, especially if he or she needs to shed those extra kilos.
This is a must foe your weight loss mission to be successful. If you stay fit and active, you have a better chance of reducing your weight and controlling diabetes. Exercise is considered as probably the best way of managing type-2 diabetes because muscles can use glucose without insulin when youre exercising. When you exercise, your muscles get the glucose they need, and in turn, your blood glucose level goes down. Workouts can also make your insulin more active, which helps your cells use glucose more effectively. People suffering from diabetes and obesity are at a high risk of developing blocked arteries, which can lead to stroke or heart attack. Exercise helps in reducing bad cholesterol level in the body, which is blocking your blood from passing through the arteries.

A BRIDE-to-be has lost an incredible 6st by hula hooping - and says she still enjoys eating McDonald's and Frankie & Benny's.
Izzie East, 25, started piling on the pounds after meeting her now-fianc, Nathan, 31, as a teenager.

The pair, from Malton, North Yorks, would stay in eating takeaways or go out for dinner and she soon ballooned to 15st 2lbs.
But when doctors warned she was at risk of developing polycystic ovary syndrome and had a fatty liver aged just 21, she realised she needed to do something.
Izzie, who was then a size 18, was terrified to join a gym and wanted a way to get fit at home when she discovered hula hooping.
The support worker said that just 20 minutes of hip shimmying in front of the TV a day helped her get down to a svelte size 8 - and now weighs just 9st.
Izzie said: "I hate the gym its not for me at all so when I discovered the hula hoop it was the perfect fit.
When I took it up I couldnt believe the results, especially on my legs and arms because I didn't think it would change them at all.
I have a couple of hoops but my everyday one weighs 1.6kg and I do all sorts with it, even squats and lunges, while I just hula hoop and watch the telly.
It's helped me tone up my tummy and get rid of the excess skin I had too

"I'm hooked on it now. The hoop even comes on holiday with me because I've got a foldable one."
She added:"People are always intrigued and ask me where to get a hoop from, I think they are shocked that you can get these results from just a hoop.
"I find it funny that hula hooping is usually something kids play with at school, and when people ask they still think it's the hoop we used to use as kids."

Izzie and her husband-to-be met while working at a hotel in their hometown, with Izzie serving tables and Nathan working as a chef in the kitchens.
After late shifts together, the couple found themselves gauging on takeout most nights and spent the rest of their dates eating in restaurants.
Nathan even proposed to Izzie while they cuddled up on the sofa watching the Great British Bake Off in September 2016.
But while Nathan could feast away with his weight relatively unchanged, Izzie started piling on the pounds - only realising how far she'd come when the doctors gave her a stark wake up call.
She said: "Nathan and Is only way of seeing each other was eating out or when we would finish a late shift at the hotel we would just get takeout, so we would sit and binge eat.
"He can eat and eat and not put anything on and I thought I could keep up because I didn't really care what I looked like, I was happy.
"But I was comfortable in my relationship and Nathan actually proposed when I was at my biggest.
"I remember thinking I don't want to be a fat bride, and then I got a real wake up call when I went to the doctors in 2016.
[My fiance] can eat and eat and not put anything on and I thought I could keep up because I didn't really care what I looked like
I wasnt feeling normal, my periods were all over the place and really heavy.
They told me I was overweight and said that I was at risk of developing polycystic ovary syndrome and had a fatty liver.
"Not long after that doctors appointment we went on holiday and I felt really self-conscious all of a sudden.
"When I got home I decided I was going to start shifting the weight.
"I knew I needed to make changes in my life while I was young to sort it out.

In January 2017 Izzie joined her local Slimming World group and within 10 months had already dropped down to 10st.
Not long after starting her fitness journey, Izzie set up a fitspiration Instagram blog to help other gym-phobics and discovered a whole new world of working out at home.
Now the social media influencer, who has nearly 20,000 followers, is an inspiration in her own right and has even been dubbed the 'hula-hoop queen' after taking up the sport in October last year.
But after years of restricting herself from any junk food, she admits she can still scoff a McDonalds as part of a different calorie counting method, which she adopted last August.

"It means I'm enjoying life and not restricting myself from anything I enjoy just to keep the weight off.
"I still do a lot of work to stay in shape - I do 10,000 steps a day, at home work out videos and 20 to 30 mins of hula hooping every day.

John Reese selects stocks based on the strategies of some of the stock market's most legendary long-term investors. Medifast (MED) is a buy in the model portfolio of his Validea newsletter based on the "Price to Earnings Growth" strategy of famed Fidelity fund manager Peter Lynch.
Medifast produces, distributes and sells weight loss, weight management, and healthy living products, and other consumable health and nutritional products.
Optavia is a personal coaching division of the company that consists of Optavia Coaches, who provides coaching and support to clients utilizing the Optavia platform.
Medifast Direct is its direct-to-consumer business unit that allows customers to order Medifast products directly through its Website or its in-house call center.
The Medifast Weight Control Centers business unit sells product through franchise and reseller locations, which offers structured programs and a team of professionals to help customers achieve weight-loss and weight-management success at center locations.
Here is a review of the criteria we assess under Peter Lynch's price to earnings growth investment strategy.
DETERMINE THE CLASSIFICATION:
This methodology would consider MED a "fast-grower".
P/E/GROWTH RATIO: PASS
The investor should examine the P/E (12.62) relative to the growth rate (29.80%), based on the average of the 3, 4 and 5 year historical eps growth rates, for a company.
This is a quick way of determining the fairness of the price. In this particular case, the P/E/G ratio for MED (0.42) is very favorable.
SALES AND P/E RATIO: NEUTRAL
For companies with sales greater than $1 billion, this methodology likes to see that the P/E ratio remain below 40. Large companies can have a difficult time maintaining a growth rate high enough to support a P/E above this threshold.
MED, whose sales are $688.9 million, is not considered large enough to apply the P/E ratio analysis. However, an investor can analyze the P/E ratio relative to the EPS growth rate.
INVENTORY TO SALES: PASS
When inventories increase faster than sales, it is a red flag. However an increase of up to 5% is considered bearable if all other ratios appear attractive.
Inventory to sales for MED was 6.41% last year, while for this year it is 7.76%. Since inventory has been rising, this methodology would not look favorably at the stock but would not completely eliminate it from consideration as the inventory increase (1.35%) is below 5%.
EPS GROWTH RATE: PASS
This methodology favors companies that have several years of fast earnings growth, as these companies have a proven formula for growth that in many cases can continue many more years.
This methodology likes to see earnings growth in the range of 20% to 50%, as earnings growth over 50% may be unsustainable. The EPS growth rate for MED is 29.8%, based on the average of the 3, 4 and 5 year historical eps growth rates, which is acceptable.
TOTAL DEBT/EQUITY RATIO: PASS
This methodology would consider the Debt/Equity ratio for MED (0.00%) to be wonderfully low (equity is at least ten times debt). This ratio is one quick way to determine the financial strength of the company.

Cherokee Nation leading the way in fight against diabetes – Tahlequah Daily Press

The Cherokee Nation has its sights on eliminating the significance of diabetes in Northeastern Oklahoma, and have been encouraging folks to get outdoors and get active this month - National Diabetes Awareness Month.
As a way to combat diabetes, Cherokee Nation Health Services has been hosting Diabetes Month Awareness Walks throughout the tribe's 14-county jurisdiction. Tonya Wapskineh, coordinator of the Cherokee Nation Diabetes Prevention Program, said exercise is a key factor in addressing the disease, as well as other measures.
"Diabetes can be prevented by getting your blood sugar tested on a yearly basis; reducing intake of sugar and refined carbs; engaging in 150 minutes of activity a week; drinking more water; losing weight if you are overweight; quit smoking; eating foods that are rich in nutrients; reduce the intake of saturated fats; watch portion sizes; move throughout the day; try to get in 10,000 steps a day; and reduce intake of processed foods and fast food," said Wapskineh.
Diabetes remains a considerable issue for people across the globe, as 414 million, or one in 11 people are impacted by the disease. Okies have been susceptible, too. According to the American Diabetes Association, approximately 14 percent of Oklahomans have diabetes, and an estimated 19,000 people in the state are diagnosed with it each year.
The members of CN's Diabetes Prevention Program are working on the issue, though, and the program is the first tribal one of its kind to receive national recognition from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
"To gain CDC recognition, your organization must show that it can meet CDC standards and effectively deliver a proven diabetes prevention lifestyle-change program," said Wapskineh.
"Cherokee Nation Diabetes Prevention Program first received recognition in November 2018, and recently received an extension of their full status standing until August 2021."
The disease is costly for Americans, too, as nearly $200 billion are spent per year on obesity-related health costs. The weight felt on people's wallets is not only figuratively, but literally. WalletHub released a recent study for National Diabetes Awareness Month which labels Oklahoma as the sixth "fattest state" in America.
The tribe's prevention program has been shedding that weight, though, as the program's participants have trimmed down in recent years.
"A total of 1,972 pounds have been lost between August 2016 and November 2019, and we have served 447 community members in seven locations throughout the Cherokee Nation tribal jurisdiction," said Wapskineh.
Cherokee Nation is not alone in its mission to combat the disease, as the members of the Oklahoma Legislative Diabetes Caucus announced Nov. 1 that their agenda next year will focus on creating more partnerships, improving education and training, and encouraging more activity in schools to helps Oklahoma's diabetic and pre-diabetic citizens.
State Sen. Frank Simpson, R-Springer, said there are many "state and tribal agencies, nonprofits, medical institutions, and other resources working tirelessly to fight diabetes and protect patients."
"I'm proud of how far we've come as a state in raising awareness and educating Oklahomans about diabetes management and prevention, but our work won't be done until the disease no longer exists," Simpson said in an Oklahoma State Senate press release. "The tools and services are available, we just need to figure out how to provide those resources to more Oklahomans in the most efficient manner possible."
The Cherokee Nation's recourses are already in place, as well, and community members interested in preventing diabetes can participate in the tribe's Diabetes Prevention Program. The program is currently recruiting for classes to be held in 2020. The Healthy Native classes are available in Tahlequah, Stilwell, Sallisaw, Muskogee, Salina, Ochelata, Vinita, and Jay.
"It is a year-long program that encompasses weekly and monthly Healthy Native classes to help participants work towards a 5 percent weight loss goal, by meeting nutrition and physical activity goals," said Wapskineh.

Dibsy finds love with ‘amazing’ girlfriend after losing 20 stone in one year – Daily Star

Former fast food addict Dibsy has found love with an amazing new girlfriend after shedding 20 stone in just one year.
Darren Dibsy McClintock, 28, was barred from ordering takeaways by his tough-talking personal trainer after being issued with a terrifying ultimatum to diet or die.
Docs warned how morbidly obese Dibsy was eating himself to death after he developed an addiction to pizzas, sandwiches, crisps and chocolate.
But pal no-nonsense PT Mike Hind helped him drop an incredible 16st.
Now Dibsy, from Middlesborough, has revealed how he is in a relationship with trainee nurse Jade, 28, who contacted him after following his progress online.
The lovebirds messaged each other on Facebook after Jade, also from Middlesborough, wished him good luck at the start of his weight loss journey.
They went on their first date at a bowling alley in August before becoming an official couple a month later.
Overjoyed Dibsy, 28, said: "Jade is such an amazing girl. She's so caring and is really supportive of my weight loss and what I'm doing.
"The two of us just click and get on so well.
"It's great to have someone like that in my life - 18 months ago I wouldn't have thought it was possible."
He added: "I'm definitely punching above my weight."

Dibsy told how he has a new-found self-confidence after slimming down.
"My mindset now is completely different to how it was 18 months ago," he explained.
"Before I wouldn't have tried anything new because I was scared about what people would think of me.
"But now I feel comfortable in my own skin and like I can just be myself, it's an incredible turnaround.
"I'm really happy now."
Loyal personal trainer Mike has been supporting Dibsy every step of the way.
He said: "When Dibsy and I first started working together I asked him what he wanted to achieve.
"He told me he wanted to a girl to settle down with, just like all his friends have.
"To see him achieve that now after putting so much work in is incredible, I'm so happy for him.
"Dibsy and Jade make a great couple.
"It just goes to show what eating well and keeping fit can do for you, it's completely turned his life around."
Dibsy suffered a setback last month when an irregular heartbeat returned and sidelined him from the gym.
He went under the knife to fix the problem last week and is already back on the treadmill.
Now he plans to have three ops to remove excess skin.
He added: "It's onward and upward from here.
