Sean Spicer says Trump is watching him on Dancing and complimented his weight loss – MarketWatch

Sean Spicer revealed President Trump called him Sunday just hours after the killing of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and complimented him on losing weight on Dancing with the Stars.
After making it through to next weeks show while dressed as Frankenstein, the former White House press secretary told the New York Posts Page Six that the president has been watching him on the ABC talent show.
He said: I spoke to the president on Sunday, [and] he made it clear hes watching me. I doubt its in real time, but he knew all about my costumes and he noticed my weight loss he told me, Have you been slimming down?
When asked if the president would have been too busy to keep an eye on him on Dancing with the Stars, Spicer added: He can walk and chew gum at the same time.
Although its a long way from the White House to the ABC DIS, -0.80% shows dance floor in Hollywood, Spicer said he didnt feel out of the loop on al-Baghdadi: Im still active in the Navy! Through December 2016, before joining the Trump White House as press secretary, he was assigned to the Joint Chiefs of Staffs naval-reserve contingent.
Following the Halloween special, Spicer got to stay another week thanks to the public vote, while Karamo Brown from Queer Eye got sent home by the judges.
This one was hard, Spicer said, as he talked of his newfound friendship with Brown. This one hurt.
Though he said he had not watched the hit Netflix NFLX, -0.23% series before meeting Brown, he now plans to binge all of the show.
Hes a therapist, and we talked about some life issues thats his job, Spicer said.

Apps and online activities can boost willpower making us choose healthier foods.

Early trials show they can boost peoples willpower, helping them slash their calorie intake by 200-a-day.
Scientists they participants shed up to two pounds in as little as a month.
And it could prove a much more popular approach than nanny state bans, the researchers believe.
Professor Chris Chambers, from Cardiff University, said: Smartphones are the most promising way to deliver boosting interventions for encouraging healthy eating.
They can be used during times when we all have a few minutes to spare, such as on the commute to work.
The simple games involve users having to quickly push a button when shown healthy foods, such as bananas or carrots.
But users must ignore it when shown sugary and fatty food, such as chocolate or crisps. It should make junk food seem less appealing.

Known as a boosting intervention, it aims to help people to make the right choice.
And it should be more effective than subtle environmental nudges that people cannot control, the researchers write in the Royal Society Open Science journal.
They plan a trial on 50,000 volunteers later this year using an app that can be personalised by including foods of which they want to eat less or more.

ADELE stunned fans earlier this month after unveiling her incredible three stone weight loss at Drake's birthday party.
And many fans, desperate to follow in her footsteps, were left asking exactly how the singer, 31, managed to trim down.

Here, we talk through the main ways Adele has managed to shed the pounds in a space of six months.
The Rolling in the Deep hitmaker has used a combination of weight loss techniques - and has completely overhauled her diet and fitness regime.
Adele has been trying out The Sirtfood Diet, which encourages slimmers to eat plant foods such as kale and buckweat.

These foods, known as sirtuin activators, suppress appetite and activate the body's "skinny gene".
Sirtuin activators are also believed to protect cells in the body from dying under stress and meant to regulate inflammation, metabolism and the ageing process.
The Sirtfood diet allows slimmers to eat dark chocolate and drink red wine, as they are high in sirtuins.
The Sun revealed earlier this year that the hitmaker has taken up reformer pilates with pal Ayda Field.

The exercise classes involve a strange contraption to improve posture, flexibility and balance.
A source said: "She has been loving her new workout regime and it really works for her.
"Its a bonus that she has shifted some weight.
"Her mates are glad shes letting loose and theres nothing but good feelings towards her. Shes got a new lease of life."
Last week, The Sun revealed Adele has secretly been following Joe's high intensity workout videos.
Adele has increasingly been training at home following her high-profile split from husband Simon Konecki, 45, in April 2019.

She is also a fan of personal trainer Dalton Wong, who helps actors get into shape for roles, including her palJennifer Lawrence.
A source said: "Adeles been secretly working with these personal trainers.
"Shes not the sort to exercise in front of others, so she follows regimes and plans at home, using their videos and tutorials.
"The progress she has made in the last six months is clear for all to see."
Adele previously admitted she used to drink about ten cups of tea a day.
However, she has since ditched the hot beverage in a desperate bid to cut down on her sugar intake.

She said: "I used to drink ten cups a day with two sugars in each so I was on 20 sugars a day.
"Now I don't drink it and I have more energy than ever."
Twenty teaspoons of sugar a day is more than three times the recommended daily allowance - and causes energy crashes, bad teeth and raised cholesterol.
Although Adele isn't the biggest fan of the gym, she says one of the main things she does is weightlifting.
She told Rolling Stone in 2016: "I mainly moan. Im not, like, skipping to the f***ing gym. I dont enjoy it.

"I do like doing weights. I dont like looking in the mirror.
"Blood vessels burst on my face really easily, so Im so conscious when Im lifting weights not to let them burst in my face. And if I dont tour, youll catch me back down at the Chinese!"
Adele's life mantra has always been about focusing on happiness first and looks second.
She previously said: "I think no matter what you look like, the key is to first of all be happy with yourself.
"And then you know if you want to try to improve things that you dont like about yourself, then do it after you appreciate yourself."
And while she admits to having self-image problems like the rest of us, she says there are bigger things to worry about.
She added: "I do have body image problems, for sure, but I dont let them rule my life at all.

The Diva Forever star has impressed fans with her weight loss over the last year which started when she competed in Dancing On Ice.
Gemma has lost three stone in total but wants to lose three more.
She told us recently: "I'd be really happy if I lost six stone as that would bring me down to 12 stone and a size 16."
She went to say she needs to lose the weight in order to get a boob job.
She revealed: "My boobs are so big and I want to get them reduced in January, but I have to lose three stone before they can operate.
"My boobs are 38GG now and I think I will go down to a C or a D-cup. The operation is all booked in.
"I think when you have big boobs, they can make you look bigger and I would just love to never ever wear a bra again."

Gemma started losing weight while training for Dancing On Ice.
The physical exertion mixed with a healthier diet meant the pounds dropped off of the reality starlet.

Simon Pegg has opened up about his wife's horrified reaction to his shocking weight loss.
The actor, 49, lost a dramatic amount of weight for a film role, and his personal trainer, Nick Lower, posted a photograph of him.
In the photo, usually healthy looking Simon looks gaunt and his skin hangs off him.
It's so he can look the part in Inheritance, an indie film in which he will play a hostage victim.
Lower captioned the shot: #SimonPegg 6 month body transformation for #InheritanceMovie .
"The brief for this role was lean, VERY lean. It required a specific body shape & look".
Simon's fans were extremely concerned by the shocking transformation.
One commented: "Realize its work, but please, eat a sandwich soon!"
"No offence Simon but its time to eat again, youre not looking healthy", begged another.
"Tooooo lean!", exclaimed a third.
And Simon revealed at MCM Comic Con that his fans weren't the only ones upset by his extreme weight loss.
His wife Maureen, who he married in 2005, broke down in tears when she saw his "skin and bone" body.
He said: "I did have to get very, very skinny for a job I did this year and my wife was in tears about that, because I kind of got down to just skin and bone, so she wasnt happy about that."
Simon added that Maureen helps him stay grounded and stops him from being a "a head-in-the-clouds actor p***k".
"As soon as I get home Im picking up the dog s**t in the courtyard", he added.
"Though I do have a courtyard which is p**ckish, to say the least."
He told GQ Hype that he had some positive reactions to his weight loss, which he found "weird".
He said: "The response from that picture was so weird. Some people said, 'You look ill,' which is what my wife thought.
"Others were saying, 'Well done'. And the thing is, it wasn't meant to be an aspirational thing. It was a snapshot that my trainer took and I really didn't expect the furore that followed."
The star added: "All I can think of is that people still think of me as the schlubby guy from Shaun Of The Dead."
Simon isn't the first actor to dramatically change their appearance for a movie role.
Christian Bale lost a whopping 62lb for The Machinist, and Renee Zellweger famously gained 30lb for her role as Bridget Jones.

Vanessa Feltz oozed confidence as she flaunted her phenomenal three-and-a-half stone weight loss as she rocked the red carpet at the Pride Of Britain awards on Monday night.
The 57-year-old TV personality, who has dropped down to a size 12 after having a gastric bypass operation in January, wowed in a plunging black gown decorated with floral embellishments on the bodice.
The stunning garment featured a figure-hugging fishtail skirt which showcased her killer curves.
The blonde ensured she was prepared for the October chill by shrugging a baby pink shawl over her forearms as she showcased her slim figure whilst attending the ceremony with her fianc Ben Ofoedu.
Continuing her glamorous display, she toted her belongings in a yellow patent handbag.
Vanessa's 47-year-old beau put on a dapper display in black three-piece suit teamed with a crisp white shirt.
Proud to have Vanessa on his arm, Phats and Small singer Ben smiled as he wrapped his arm around her slim waist.
It comes after the broadcaster recently revealed her weight-loss has improved her and her husband-to-be's sex life.
Speaking to Woman Magazine , the broadcaster said: "He doesn't seem to have become any less keen on a bit of how's your father, put it that way.
"He likes a bigger woman with a big fat bum. Mine has almost dwindled away, so I don't think he'd have cared if I hadn't lost an ounce, but he likes the confidence.
The telly star had a gastric band fitted in 2010, but it led to her developing a nasty condition called gastroesophageal reflux.
It made her eyes, ears, nose and mouth feel like they were full of liquid.
Vanessa recently revealed the gastric band had slipped, leaving her in need of an urgent operation to correct the problem.
But during the operation, it was discovered that the slipped band had embedded itself in Vanessas liver.
While they managed to remove the band, Vanessa explained how it had to be carefully dissected which took time, and led to complications.
Vanessa spent some time in intensive care leaving her family very worried for her, but she was still able to undergo the bypass.

Duration it took me to lose weight: 3 months The turning point: I was working out for the last 11 years but I wasnt able to get the desired results and it was really demotivating. I do weight training for 6 days. I also make it a point to do 30 minutes of cardio for at least 4 days a week. The exercises include cross-training, abs workout, core and sides workout.
Low-calorie recipes I swear by: I vouch on poha and oats.
Fitness secrets I unveiled: You must focus on both diet and training simultaneously to get better results. A lot of people make the mistake of sticking to just one of the two aspects of weight loss and fail to attain results.
How do I stay motivated? I have learnt how difficult life can become if you are overweight and unhealthy. Hence, I have made it a point to not deviate myself from fitness as I do not want to go back to where I had begun.
How do you ensure you dont lose focus? The very fear of losing the physique I have worked so hard to attain, keeps me focused.

POPCORN chicken from KFC, a juicy bacon burger from Burger King and a box of McDonald's nuggets - these are just a few fast food items you might think you need to avoid if you're trying to lose weight.
However, it turns out you can still shed those pounds and eat meals like this from your favourite fast food restaurants, according to a top fitness expert.

Graeme Tomlinson, 31, aka The Fitness Chef, has claimed that these restaurants can easily fit in with a low-fat diet.
In fact, he points out having a little of what you fancy is said to be the key to sustainable weight loss and many dishes from places like Nando's and McDonald's contain under 500 calories.
However, the main thing he emphasises is that moderation is key.
The social media star says: "If consumption is moderate and accompanied by an overall supportive dietary process, it can have an enjoyed position in ones life."
Here he talks us through how fast-food restaurants can fit in with a weight loss programme.

Yep, you can still have that cheeky Nando's - even if you are watching you are watching your weight.
With so much on offer, it can be peri hard to navigate the menu - but it turns out the Portuguese-style chain offers a whopping 45 dishes under 500 calories.
A quarter chicken breast is is only 278 calories, while lots of side dishes are also under 300 - meaning that you can easily build a high-protein, low-calorie meal.
In particular, Graeme suggests going for the butterfly chicken which is 352 calories or the chicken burger which has just 407 calories.
He says: "Nandos is enjoyed by millions - this should never change.
"Awareness of total energy consumed can therefore allow one to facilitate multiple Nandos excursions into a successful diet."

McDonald's and dieting are normally two words that don't appear together.
But trying to keep your calorie count down doesn't necessarily mean that you have to give up on the odd Maccy D's.
In particular, the McDonald's cheeseburger really isn't as calorific as you'd think as it comes in at just 301 calories.
While Graeme points out food in McDonald's isn't "nutrient dense", they can be enjoyed still as part of a diet.
Some of the dishes he points out are under 500 calories include six chicken nuggets, a filet-o-fish and a large fries.

It's hard to go to BK and pass up on what they're known for - their burgers - but you don't have to.
As long as you make some smart decisions and are willing to pass on the supersize, you can still have a healthy fast food meal.
Top tips for eating out
The Hospital Group's Dietitian George Hamlyn-Williams has revealed his top tips for eating out.
Graeme says: "If one enjoys Burger King and wants to achieve a compositional goal, awareness of information and coordinated action based on that information is a good idea to support that goal."
The bacon double cheeseburger doesn't scream "healthy" but it contain's only 360 calories.
Similarly, a hamburger has 250 calories and a chicken burger has 390 calories.

While many people think KFC is off the cards during a diet, this isn't the case.
Many of the dishes are low in calories, with a regular popcorn chicken containing just 135 calories.
A mini fillet burger contains 280 calories, while a two piece chicken original has 485 calories.
Graeme says: "Instead of demonising KFC, isnt it a better idea to look more objectively?
"At least in terms of the most basic nutritional element of any food - the calorie value.
"Perhaps that way youll see that KFC can fit into your fitness goal if you enjoy it."

Whether you're a dedicated noodle slurper or a katsu fan - there's something healthy on the menu at Wagas for everyone.
Many of the dishes are made from items like nuts, veggies, lean proteins and broth meaning a lot of the meals are full of nutrition.
Some of the lower calorie dishes Graeme recommends you pick if you want to lose weight include the duck wraps at 441 calories and the tofu glass noodle salad at 437 calories.
Graeme says: "Being aware of basic energy values can allow one to make informed choices in relation to their goal whilst still enjoying a social/business occasion with friends and colleagues in a restaurant environment."

You can still celebrate the end of the week by going down to TGI's but you may want to swerve the milkshakes and elaborate-looking puds.
In particular, Graeme points out that the red sparkler cake is a whopping 1690 calories, while the brownie obsession dessert is 1200 calories.

As for mains, TGI's burgers are particularly unhealthy with the mac & cheese burger totalling 1390 calories, and the signature whiskey glazed burger coming in at 1100 calories.
However, you can still treat yourself to a burger and keep in your plan if you pick the 520 calorie turkey burger.

When it comes to Dorsey's fasting style, the CEO chooses to eat one time daily at 6:30 p.m., at which point he'll consume a protein (either fish, chicken, or steak) and some vegetables (an arugula or spinach salad, asparagus, or Brussels sprouts). Then he'll have a dessert of mixed berries or dark chocolate, which he consumes before 9 p.m.
On weekends, Dorsey fasts until Sunday evening. When he breaks his fast, he'll have bone broth and some red wine, though Dorsey didn't specify how often he consumes alcohol.
"It really has increased my appreciation for food and taste because I'm deprived of it for so long during the day," Dorsey told fitness authorBen Greenfield in April during an episode of Greenfield's podcast.
Dorsey's approach isn't the only way to go about intermittent fasting though. There are four popular types, according to the Cleveland Clinic, including a twice-weekly fast and a time-restricted method where a dieter eats only between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m., or between or noon and 8 p.m.
The science behind it:
Some research suggests intermittent fasting can help with weight loss better than restricting overall calories while eating throughout the day.
At the same time, research has found people have trouble sticking to intermittent fasting for the long term compared to other weight-loss plans.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, intermittent fasting isn't entirely proven as a helpful diet, but it does work for some people if they learn how to incorporate it into their lives without feeling deprived.
When it comes to Dorsey's more extreme style of fasting, some professionals see it as disordered eating. And, doing it over a long period of time could be especially detrimental to mental and physical health.
"Humans are mammals that need certain amounts of food and fluid to maintain our physiological [functions] and energy to do things we want to do in the world," Dr. Jennifer Gaudiani, an internal-medicine doctor who specializes in eating disorders, previously told Business Insider.
"When people undercut their need for food with radical under-eating, the body doesn't care about the reasoning. It is just going react to save your life," Gaudiani said.
That reaction will include feelings of mental sharpness because the body is trying to determine when and where from it will get its next meal, according to Gaudiani, which could explain Dorsey's mention of increased mental acuity during the Greenfield interview.
