AS a busy nurse, Sam Wiles found her hectic lifestyle and shift work was causing her to reach for calorie-laden snacks and quick fat-filled meals.

But since joining a new weight management programme, which was piloted in Carlisle, she has transformed her life, dropped several dress sizes and shed 19lbs.

The Momenta programme was started by Jonathan Scott, an ambassador for national weightloss scheme MEND.

The healthy living consultant, from Houghton, Carlisle, moved into his current career following his own battle with obesity. As a teenager it drove him to the brink of suicide, weighing more than 19 stone by the time he was 15.

But he has since shed almost half his body weight and is now helping others make healthier, happier choices.

After hearing about the new Momenta adult weight management programme, he decided to pilot it in Carlisle.
