Bloomberg

(Bloomberg) -- Investors shuffling trades amid a sputtering reflation narrative may have overlooked a little fact: Bond managers whove been bullish on inflation prospects this year have been winning.Inflation-linked U.S. Treasuries -- known as TIPS -- are on pace to outperform their regular counterparts for the second straight year, and some of the worlds biggest investors see scope for further gains. Vanguard Group Inc., which reaped profits on inflation-protected bonds it bought in March when the outlook was at its most dire, is looking for a re-entry point. And both BlackRock Inc. and Ardea Investment Management are wagering that the market is underestimating gains in consumer prices over the next few decades. The triumph of TIPS is more than a little ironic, given the absence of a significant acceleration in inflation this year. Even after roaring back from an 11-year low when the pandemic shuttered the world in March, expectations for price pressures remain relatively tame. But with vaccine hopes now building, some investors see these securities as a cheap way to bet on a rejuvenated global economy. The added impetus is that this is a category of debt that typically offers outsized gains when yields are stable or falling.TIPS perform best in a modest growth and rising-inflation-expectations environment, which is right where we are now, said Elaine Kan, who co-manages Loomis Sayles & Co.s Inflation Protected Securities Fund. And nominal yields arent likely to go much higher at least for the next few months, which is a positive for those investing in TIPS -- who also will benefit from the inflation protection if expectations go up more.No BottomThe Federal Reserve somewhat put a floor under so-called nominal yields when signaling that it doesnt want to push policy rates below zero, and may have limited the prospects for additional gains in Treasuries. Not so with TIPS, where yields can, and do, go negative; the 10-year U.S. maturity currently yields around minus 0.93%.To be clear, that means investors are basically paying to hold this debt on the assumption they get a windfall as inflation rebounds -- not a strategy for everyone. But like nominal Treasuries, TIPS benefit from demand for havens, and the additional potential for yields to decline opens up the door to greater price appreciation.Further adding to their appeal is the longer duration that these securities generally have compared to their nominal counterparts, meaning they tend to deliver larger price gains when rates are steady or declining as they are now. TIPS have proved a stellar bet this year, earning 9.3% compared with 8% for regular Treasuries, according to Bloomberg Barclays index data.Still, while the bond markets main measure of inflation expectations -- dubbed the breakeven rate -- has bounced back to where it was at the start of 2020 thanks to the Feds ultra-loose policy and massive government stimulus, doubts remain about the Feds ability to boost it further and achieve its 2% target for annual growth in consumer prices. The breakeven rate is the CPI level needed over life of the security for the TIPS holders return to roughly match that similar nominal Treasury.Asymmetric OpportunityFor Ardea Investment, it boils down to a risk-reward tradeoff. Inflation may not be about to suddenly lurch higher, but the firm sees more bang for the buck in betting on an upside surprise when the market is so skewed toward inflation staying low for a long time. This offers what Gopi Karunakaran, co-chief investment officer at Ardea, called an asymmetric opportunity. The limited supply of inflation bonds also helps, he said. One of the biggest themes over the past decade is that weve been entrenched for such a long time in this world of low inflation and low inflation expectations, Karunakaran said. Few people are prepared for that upside surprise. Its hard to blame the naysayers, given how stubbornly low inflation levels have persisted for years in the worlds largest economy. The Feds preferred measure of inflation has been below its target for most of the last five years. And even for inflation believers, TIPS have their drawbacks, having only been around since 1997, and remaining relatively illiquid versus nominals. TIPS were among the hardest to trade government securities as the pandemic roiled markets in March, in part because they account for just $1.5 trillion of the $20.4 trillion Treasuries universe and tend to be favored by long-term buy-and-hold investors. But the narrative may start to change should distribution of a vaccine begin, according to Mark Nash, head of fixed-income alternatives at Jupiter Asset Management. We are still into inflation bonds in a big way, he said. If you have a Q1 rollout for the vaccine, and central banks as well as governments staying generous with their policies, then boom, well get some confidence back. These bonds will be a must-own when things clear up.Headwinds AboundNot everyone shares that view. There are immediate headwinds to consider, with surging coronavirus cases spurring another round of lockdowns in many countries, millions of people still out of work and a range of pandemic-relief programs set to expire in the U.S.For Jason Bloom, a global strategist at Invesco Advisers, the market is ahead of itself in expecting stronger growth right away. You likely wouldnt start to see economic activity pick up to the point of generating inflation until we get into the end of 2022, he said. The vaccine news absolutely didnt change anything regarding our inflation outlook.Winning BetsThose investors who are convinced the stage is set for the next step in the economic recovery are sticking with their winning bets.Gemma Wright-Casparius, a senior portfolio manager at Vanguard, which oversees about $6.2 trillion, scaled back TIPS wagers last quarter after the rebound in breakevens. She expects to add more ahead. Were looking for opportunities to re-engage because we do think the vaccine is a game changer, she said. Depending on how widespread its adoption and durability is in terms of immunity, we could close the output gap faster than is now expected.Inflation expectations got a jolt this year from the Feds pledge to keep supporting the economy until inflation measures are consistent with an average of 2% over time. And with talks over additional fiscal stimulus stalled out, most see the Fed doing more, even as soon as December.Bob Miller, head of Americas fundamental fixed income at BlackRock, which manages over $7 trillion as the worlds biggest asset manager, says the firm came into the year long TIPS, in the 5- to 10-year sector, and added more when the securities got crushed during the March-April period.Miller helps oversee the Total Return Fund, which has gained 8% this year to beat about 80% of its peers, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. He took profits on intermediate-maturity TIPS and is now long the 30-year security. The 30-year breakeven at about 1.89% signals too much pessimism for Miller. Thats because TIPS are tied to consumer prices, and CPI has historically exceeded the inflation gauge the Fed targets by about 40 basis points. So the current breakeven rate implies the Fed will miss its 2% target by about half a percentage point on average over the next 30 years. As Miller sees it, such a big miss seems unlikely.I share some modest skepticism about the Feds ability to pin the tail on the donkey at 2% for a long period of time, he said. But I would not underestimate their willingness to try.For more articles like this, please visit us at bloomberg.comSubscribe now to stay ahead with the most trusted business news source.2020 Bloomberg L.P.

7 Easy Nutritional Changes that Will Help You Lose Belly Fat – BOXROX

Posted: November 30, 2020 at 8:50 am

By knowing what to and what not to eat, you will maximize your efforts trying to lose belly fat. The seven tips below will guide you on your way to proper nutrition and efficient weight loss.

The most crucial part to cut off in your diet when trying to lose weight is carbohydrates (starches). To give you a little bit of a background, insulin is responsible for storing your fat. Insulin-release is also stimulated when you eat too much sugar that comes from starch or carbohydrates.

The more sugar you eat, the more your body releases insulin, and the more it stores fat. But when insulin goes down, you dont give your body a lot of chance to store up on fat, making it burn more to fuel your body instead.

Another benefit of lowered your insulin level is that it allows your kidneys to do what they are supposed to do and that is to get rid of excess sodium and water in your body. Excess sodium causes you to bloat up and store the water as weight exces. As soon as you get rid of carbohydrates on the first few weeks of your diet, you will notice you are losing more weight than expected.

Age No Barrier to Weight Loss in Those With Morbid Obesity – Medscape

Posted: November 28, 2020 at 7:57 am

Older adults should be recommended for hospital-based lifestyle interventions to reduce weight, say UK investigators after finding there was no difference in weight loss between older and younger individuals in their program for those with morbid obesity.

Thomas M. Barber, PhD, and colleagues looked back at nearly 250 randomly selected adults who attended their obesity service over an 11-year period.

Older individuals, defined as aged 60 years and over, had higher rates of type 2 diabetes but experienced a similar percentage weight loss and reduction in body mass index (BMI) as younger patients over the course of around 40 months.

"Age should be no barrier to lifestyle management of obesity," said Barber, of University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire, UK, in a news release from his institution.

"Rather than putting up barriers to older people accessing weight loss programs, we should be proactively facilitating that process. To do otherwise would risk further and unnecessary neglect of older people through societal ageist misconceptions."

He urged service providers and policymakers to "appreciate the importance of weight loss in older people with obesity for the maintenance of health and well-being and the facilitation of healthy aging."

"Furthermore, age per se should not contribute towards clinical decisions regarding the implementation of lifestyle management of older people."

The research was published online November 22 in Clinical Endocrinology.

Jason Halford, PhD, a professor of biological psychology and health behavior, told Medscape Medical News, "The fear is that older patients are perceived not to respond" to lifestyle interventions to control obesity, "and that's clearly a fallacy, according to this study."

The findings are strengthened by the fact that these are real-world data, "and so it will inform clinical practice," he added.

And one of the "more interesting" findings was that [type 2] diabetes was "more prevalent" in the older group "but they're still losing weight," he noted.

"Traditionally it's been thought that people with type 2 diabetes find it more difficult to lose weight because you're trying to manage two conditions," said Halford, of the University of Leeds, UK, who is also president-elect of the European Association for the Study of Obesity.

The researchers note that many of the comorbidities associated with obesity "develop over time" and that "no one is immune to obesity," regardless of their age, sex, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status.

Barber said there are "a number of reasons" why healthcare professionals "may discount weight loss in older people," including "an 'ageist' perspective that weight-loss is not relevant to older people and misconceptions of reduced ability of older people to lose weight through dietary modification and increased exercise."

And "older people may feel that hospital-based obesity services are not for them," he noted.

To determine the effect of age on the ability to lose weight through lifestyle interventions, Barber and colleagues randomly selected 242 patients with morbid obesity who attended their hospital-based service between 2005 and 2016.

Of these, 167 were aged 18-60 years and 75 were aged 60 years and older. Most participants were women (75.4% of the younger patients and 60.0% of the older patients).

The proportion of patients with confirmed diabetes was markedly higher in the older group compared with the younger group, at 62.7% versus 35.3%, although older patients had a significantly lower baseline BMI, at 46.9 versus 49.7 kg/m2 (P < .05).

The average duration of the lifestyle intervention was over 3 years (41.5 months) in the younger patients and 33.6 months in the older patients.

There was no significant difference in percentage weight loss between younger and older patients, at 6.9% and 7.3%, respectively, and no difference in percentage reduction in BMI, at 8.1% versus 7.8%.

Further analysis demonstrated that there was no significant correlation between age at referral to the hospital-based serviced and percentage weight loss (correlation coefficient, 0.13).

Halford said it would have been "useful" to know the proportion of patients achieving 5% and 10% weight loss because if a third of patients lost more than 10% of their weight, "even in an elderly population, that would suggest there'd be real benefits in terms of things like type 2 diabetes," he noted.

And he would like to have seen more data around how long participants had been struggling with obesity, as it's "just an assumption that the second group is further down the path because they're older, but we can't be 100% sure."

The team notes the study is limited by being retrospective and including a random selection of patients attending the service rather than the entire cohort.

Halford agreed but said the analysis is a "starting point" and could be used as a platform to conduct "much more systematic research on this area."

No funding or relevant financial relationships were declared.

Weight loss: "My IT career made me pile on 25 kilos! Here is how I lost it and became a bodybuilder" – Times of India

Posted: November 28, 2020 at 7:57 am

My breakfast: During your transformation, it's all about choosing the foods which help you stay consistent and maintain the balance for a long period. My breakfast was the same for a year. It always included leafy greens, with high fats and proteins (with lots of cheese to be precise) and low carbs. And yes, lots of water!

My lunch: I was a pure vegetarian before, but had to include chicken and rice with greens for almost 10 months when I was misguided by trainers and gymmers to consume non-veg if I wanted to build my body. When I gained the right knowledge, I switched back to my old choices, which now includes soya chunks, lentils and curd.

My dinner: A cheese sandwich, or veggie pasta. I have to add here that I have a voracious appetite, and hence, my diet worked for me.

Pre-workout meal: This one stays constant - delicious Whey protein shakes with low carbohydrates so that my body is fueled up before I workout.

Post-workout meal: Whey protein thick shake. Mostly mixed with fruits. You will forget about those sugary and harmful drinks out there.

I indulge in (What you eat on your cheat days): Food cooked by mom always tops the list. Every single day, I do meal prep myself but on my cheat days, I savour the treats my mom makes. If I'm going out, I prefer having burgers or cheesy pizzas and fries.

My workout: I love bodybuilding, so my workout includes strength training 6 times/week on a Linear Periodization model and a day to recover. Workout basically includes conditioning most of the part, followed by very little cardio.

Low-calorie recipes I swear by:

1. Watermelon juice with an apple along with some chat masala sprinkled.

2. Whey protein Kulfi.

3. Lemonade.

4. A lassi recipe I invented myself.

Weight loss: How adding pistachios to your breakfast can help you burn fat and lose weight – Express

Posted: November 28, 2020 at 7:57 am

One pistachio is around just three calories - compared to almonds which are roughly 14 calories each.

They are high in lutein, minerals and B vitamins - perfect for a nutritious start to your day.

Pistachios are also brimming with fibre which will keep you feeling fuller for longer.

Whats more, they have been proven to burn fat, according to a study published in the journal Nutrition.

DON'T MISS

The research saw one group adding pistachios to their diets; they ate 20 per cent of their total calories from the nut, which increased their protein and good fat intake and decreased their carbs (their diets contained 51 per cent carbs, 20 per cent protein and 29 per cent fat).

The control group, which consumed no pistachios, ate a diet that was 60 per cent carbs, 15 per cent protein, 25 per cent fat.

After six months, participants in the pistachio group had smaller waists (by approximately 0.7 inches).

They also saw their total cholesterol score drop by 15 points. They had better blood sugar numbers and had less harmful inflammation.

Furthermore, a 2015 study in the Journal of the American Heart Association also showed that people who snack on nuts may have lower abdominal fat than those who consume carb-based foods.

So while nuts - and especially pistachios - are a good addition to breakfast (although you shouldn't eat more that one to two handfuls a day) - what aren't good foods to consume in the morning?

Granola and breakfast bars should be eaten with caution.

They can be packed full of sugar and you could end up eating as many calories as if you sat down to a dessert.

Egg sandwiches also come with a word of warning. These often consist of a fried egg, ham and cheese on a toasted bagel or English muffin.

While such sarnies only have 300 to 400 calories, their macronutrients are highly unbalanced.

According to Livestrong, egg sandwiches have up to four times as much low-quality carbs as protein. This is because they are only made with one egg and therefore low in protein, which could lead to you snacking later in the day.

Other foods to avoid at breakfast include waffles, pancakes, bagels and muffins. These also do not contain enough protein and are rich in carbohydrates.

Orange juice is also a poor option for people wanting to lose weight.

The fruit juice is packed with sugar and, if shop-bought in a carton, low in nutrition.

1

"Avocados are a vitamin rich food, high in fiber, low in carbohydrates (9 grams per serving) and contain a healthy monounsaturated fat (MUFA) oleic acid that our body needs to decrease inflammation and disease," says Monisha Bhanote, MD, FCAP, a triple board-certified physician with expertise in integrative medicine and pathology. "Using the benefits of the MUFA in an avocado can increase our insulin sensitivity and lower our cholesterol."

Additionally, she says, the fat content can help with appetite regulation and aid in weight loss by increasing the rate at which fat is burned. "You can get all the benefits from just one portion size which is usually a quarter of an avocado," she says. If you're ready to supplement your diet with avocados, don't miss this roundup of 18 Things You Had No Idea You Could Do with an Avocado.

2

"Cherries are often overlooked, but they're a superfood that can help boost weight loss," says Lynell Ross, a psychology-trained Certified Health and Wellness Coach and Nutritionist who is also a National Diabetes Prevention Program Instructor. "They are packed with nutrients such as potassium, copper, manganese, and vitamin C. But the health benefits go beyond vitamins and minerals, as cherries also pack 2 grams of protein, 3 grams of fiber. Tart cherries also may help you sleep better. Studies have shown that better sleep promotes more weight loss. And if these benefits weren't enough, cherries can help with joint pain, allowing you to get more exercise, which helps you lose weight."

Though classified as a whole grain, quinoa is actually a seed that provides eight grams of protein and five grams of fiber per cup. "Eating foods high in fiber, like whole grain quinoa, will fill you up and help prevent overeating," says Amanda W. Izquierdo, MPH, RD, LDN. 4

"Many don't eat protein first thing in the morning," says Sunny Brigham, MBA, MS, CNS. "Then they'll have a little at lunch and a huge influx at dinner. Several studies show we can only digest and absorb about 20-25 grams of protein at a time. So, if someone is really only eating protein at dinner, they aren't getting enough in throughout the day."

Fact: Healthy protein intake supports muscle structure, liver and kidney function, and your metabolism. "Working to get in anywhere from 10-20 grams of protein at breakfast will boost the metabolism and satiate hunger until lunch," says Bingham. "Good options would be free-range organic eggs, oatmeal, nuts, nut butter, and a quality protein powder."

Just about all of the weight loss experts we spoke to for this article preached the benefits of eating more eggs. "Studies show that people who eat eggs for breakfast lose more weight than those who eat foods high in carbohydrates in the morning," adds Ross. "Eggs contain valuable nutrients and protein, which helps you feel satisfied so you eat less throughout the day." For more on the benefits of scrambling your breakfast, know that This Is What Happens to Your Body When You Eat Eggs Every Day.

5

"For starters, all seafood is good to eat if weight loss is your goal," says Rima Kleiner, MS, RD. "Recent studies have shown that eating seafood several times every week can help promote weight loss. Because fish and shellfish tend to be rich in protein with relatively fewer calories than other animal proteins, seafood can help you feel satisfied, which may help to curb overeating."

Additionally, seafood is a great source of omega-3 fatty acids, which have been shown to help reduce inflammation and boost heart and brain health. "When it comes to weight loss and health, more important than what kind of seafood to eat is choosing seafood that has been healthfully prepared and cooked. So say no to fried, and ditch the dishes with calorie-dense sauces."

Experts all single out salmon as a wonderful weight loss food. "Even if you think it's too fishy, there are some tricks you can try [to make it more palatable]," advises Kleiner. "Soaking fish in milk for about 20 minutes prior to cooking can help lessen the fishiness. Also, try squeezing lemon juice over the fish to mask some of the fishy smell or taste. Or, serve topped with a nutritious and delicious sauce, like a tzatziki sauce, teriyaki sauce, or mango salsa."

6

"I'm a huge advocate of eating chia seeds for weight loss," says Natalie Knezic, Health&Wellness Coach with expertise in weight-loss, weight management, and digestive health. "Chia seeds are staples in my kitchen and high on my favorite foods list, as they are among the healthiest, most nutrient-dense foods on the planet."

Despite their tiny size, chia seeds are full of essential nutrients and very filling, and are therefore excellent for losing weight. "They are a great source of omega-3 fatty acids, soluble fibers, and proteins," says Knezic. "Just one serving (two tablespoons) of chia seeds contains almost 10 grams of fiberclose to 40 percent of your recommended daily intake. The fiber makes us feel full, which prevents overeating. Also, chia seeds mixed with water expands in our stomach and keeps you super satisfied for hours."

7

"They help quell hunger, and emerging research shows that eating pistachios will help you lose weight," says Katherine Brooking MS, RD. "Results from several recent studies suggest that adults who consume nuts, such as pistachios, may have a lower body weight and decreased prevalence of health risks such as heart disease and metabolic syndrome. They also tend to have better diets compared to people who don't regularly eat pistachios. Pistachios are also a complete proteinideal for vegans and vegetarians."

In fact, a new study published in the journal Nutrients reveals how pistachios may indeed be your new weight-loss secret weapon. The study, conducted by researchers at the University of California, San Diego, followed 94 adults of varying body sizefrom slim and healthy to obeseas they embarked on the same weight-loss program. The only difference? Half of the participants added 1.5 ounces of pistachios to their diet, while the other half didn't. Though participants across the board lost weight, the ones who ate pistachios had much rosier biometrics at the end of the trial. They ultimately experienced lower blood pressure, consumed more fiber, and consumed "less sweets" than those who didn't supplement their diets with pistachios.

8

"Leafy greens are an excellent addition to your weight loss diet," says Lisa Young, Ph.D., RD, a professor of nutrition at NYU. "Not only are they low in calories but also high in fiber that helps keep you feeling full." To know the all-time greatest greens to add to your diet, don't miss this list of The Healthiest Leafy Greens on the PlanetRanked by Nutrition.

9

"Cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage are high in fiber, low in calories, and very filling," says Young. In fact, according to a recent study, one particular cruciferous vegetable was singled out as The #1 Greatest Weight Loss Food for Women.

10

"Beans are one of the best kept secrets for weight loss," says Lynell Ross. "A one-half cup serving of kidney beans contains about 7 grams of fiber."

According to Ross, all beans and legumes are high in fiber, which will help your digestive tract to work effectively and result in weight loss. "Women should aim for about 21-25 grams of fiber per day, while men need between 30-39 grams," she says.

11

"Apples are one of the healthiest foods you can eat to help with weight loss," says Ross. "Not only does one medium-sized apple have about 5 grams of fiberwhich aids in weight lossbut also the sweet and crunchy taste can substitute for dessert while helping you feel full."

12

"Studies have shown that people who eat dairy foods lose more weight than those who don't include dairy foods in their diet," says Ross. "Yogurt is high in calcium and vitamin D, which helps strengthen your bones, and it's high in protein, which balances your blood sugar and helps to cut sugar cravings. Just be sure to select a plain yogurt that's low in sugar and add your own fruit." Obesity has never been a bigger problem in the U.S. than it is right now. At the same time, a recent study indicates thatmore Americans are on dietsthan ever before. Could it be that notwithstanding our best intentions, we've been dieting wrong?

As a matter of fact, that's precisely what a team of scientists out of the Alberta Diabetes Institute at the University of Alberta is suggesting. Their newstudy, publishedin The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, suggests that while we've been busy struggling to subsist on the high-fat keto diet and shunning meat to go plant-based, what we really need to eat if we want to lose weight is more protein. The scientists, led by University of Alberta professor, Carla M. Prado, Ph.D., were aware that "total diet replacements" (short-term diets consisting solely of nutritionally complete meal replacements) can be an effective weight-loss strategy for people with obesity and obesity-related conditions such as type 2 diabetes. They also knew that diets emphasizing protein can support weight management through increased energy and feelings of satiety. What they didn't know was how these two diet concepts might work together for healthy normal-weight adults.

The scientists recruited 44 healthy normal-weight adults between the ages of 18 and 35 (19 females and 24 males) to spend 32 hours in a metabolic chamber (a sealed room that measures oxygen, carbon dioxide, and nitrogen, among other things, to provide a highly detailed look at metabolism). The scientists then randomized the subjects into two groups, and fed them as follows:

Half were fed a high-protein total diet replacement (35 percent carbohydrates, 40 percent protein, and 25 percent fat).

Half were fed a diet meant to approximate what the study authors referred to as the "standard North American dietary pattern" (55 percent carbohydrates, 15 percent protein, and 30 percent fat).

Perhaps most importantly, however, both groups were fed thesame number of calories.

As it turned out, despite having consumed the same number of calories, the two groups differed significantly in terms of how what they consumed impacted their metabolism. The high-protein group's metabolic readings showed higher levels of energy expenditure and fat oxidation (two indicators of weight loss) than the other group. In other words, it appears the high-protein diet was more effective at inducing weight loss.

And so it appears that eating more protein could be the key to unlocking weight loss, at least among healthy, non-obese adults. More research is needed as to the long-term effects of high-protein diets and how these results might translate to adults with obesity, Dr. Prado told Science Daily. However, this study should help scientists to better understand the effects of high-protein diets while adding to the discussion that "a calorie is not just a calorie."

When trying to slim down, personal trainer at Snap Fitness Burntwood Liam Smith explained dieters should be mindful of the foods they eat.

Eating meals high in protein can help boost the metabolism and speed up weight loss, he said.

"Choosing the right diet for weight loss can get confusing with all these new products and fad weight loss diets," Liam explained.

"However the simplest and most effective way is tracking your macronutrients - fats, carbohydrates and proteins - especially your protein intake.

"Having a structured training plan and diet is essential for weight loss, a high protein diet in particular will aid in muscle repair and will keep you fuller for much longer."

A study published in the National Library of Medicine revealed eating protein can increase the production of hormones GLP-1, peptide YY and cholecystokinin, which all suppress the appetite.

The study showed that high protein meals also reduce levels of the hunger hormone ghrelin.

Liam claimed that foods high in protein can help build muscle and burn fat.

DON'T MISS

High protein foods include meat, fish, eggs, dairy, tofu, nuts and pulses.

Liam added: "I suggest with my clients roughly one gram of protein per one pound of bodyweight.

"This amount of protein is sufficient to both maintain muscle mass, and keep you fuller for longer which will aid your weight loss journey.

"Protein also has a high thermic effect which means your body requires more energy to digest them, your main sources of protein can come from meat, fish, nuts, dairy and eggs.

"For a practical approach when it comes to weight loss ensure youre staying within a calorie deficit, and make sure you hit your protein intake each day.

"With reduced snacking, wider food variety and more muscle mass, a weight loss diet can be significantly less painful than the traditional methods."

When trying to tone up, dieters must make sure they are not eating more than they are burning off.

However, Liam warned against diets that are too low in calories and restrictive.

'Fad' diets can be difficult to maintain and are often unhealthy options.

"Your main concern should be staying in a calorie deficit, which if protein is low will result in muscle loss," the expert commented.

"Restrictive fad diets can be very limiting and incredibly difficult to sustain.

"Finding a diet that suits you both with taste and hitting your macronutrients will allow for it to be more sustainable and therefore successful."
