Working Out 7 Days a Week for Weight LossIs It Too Much? Eat This Not That – Eat This, Not That

Posted: September 26, 2022 at 2:04 am

When you're on a weight loss mission, it's common to be totally into working out as much as possible to reach your end goal even faster. But if you're working out seven days a week for weight loss, is it too much? We spoke with an expert and have the scoop, so keep reading to learn more.

Eat This, Not That! chatted with Victoria Brady, a personal trainer on Fyt, the biggest personal training service in the nation that makes expert-guided in-person or virtual fitness convenient and accessible for everyone. Brady stresses just how important working out is to add to your regular routine to improve your overall wellness. Not only does it help with maintaining a healthy weight, but it also lowers any chance of disease and is instrumental in bettering your mental health. Regular workouts will put you in a better mood, help generate stronger bones and muscles (especially your heart), increase your energy, and help you get more restful sleep at night.6254a4d1642c605c54bf1cab17d50f1e

We asked Brady to discuss the good and the evil of working out every day of the week, and she starts with the pros, telling us, "The biggest benefit of working out seven days a week is having better endurance and physique/physical appearance. Exercising daily will make the routines easier, allowing you to work out longer or go further (in the distance). Additionally, you are more likely to weigh less, giving you the appearance of a leaner, toner body. Some other pros include daily mood boost post-workout, more likely to reach your fitness goals (and stick to them), and increased focus."

As far as the cons, Brady starts with the biggest, which is the possibility of overtraining. She points out, "Overtraining is defined as working out too much and/or too hard without allowing your body enough time to rest. By overtraining, you risk decreasing your performance, hitting a plateau, so you stop seeing results, increasing the risk of injury/joint issues in the future, and it can even negatively impact your mood due to lack of rest (i.e., increase in depression/anxiety)."

Brady says that it's totally possible to effectively perform your exercise regimen each day of the week. However, it's important to switch things up each day to prevent overtraining. She warns, "Avoid working the same muscle group back-to-back as well as keeping your workouts to less than 60 minutes a day and rotating the intensity (i.e., high intensity, such as HIIT, one day and low-intensity workout, like walking, the next day). This also means not doing only cardio daily but also incorporating strength training."

There are certain exercises to do on a routine basis that promote a longer life. That includes both strength training for stronger bones and muscles and cardio for a healthy heart. "Some of the best cardio exercises to do regularly include walking/jogging, swimming, or cycling. On the other hand, some of the best strength training exercises include squats, hip-hinging movements such as lunges, push/pull movements (i.e., push-ups, pull-ups), and planks," Brady shares.

We have a sample from Brady of a potential workout schedule that would work:

Woman Who Lost A Lot Of Weight Can’t Believe How Differently Everyone Treats Her Now, Calls Out Relatives – Bored Panda

Posted: September 26, 2022 at 2:04 am

Weight loss is always a struggle. Venturing into this arduous endeavor requires tremendous willpower, discipline, strength, and a genuine dedication to your health. Its frustrating and exhausting. But you try to commit to yourself every single day, come rain or shine. Because whether you like it or not, the unfortunate truth is that looks have an influence on your life, particularly how the rest of society, your friends, and your loved ones perceive and treat you.

But it seems that the challenge becomes even more magnified once you achieve your desired target. Something that Redditor euisalk knows from personal experience. As she detailed in her recent AITA confession, the world started treating her differently as soon as she slimmed down.

People are nicer to me, she wrote. Im the same person Ive always been, but the way I move in the world has improved because my body is smaller. While this change may seem heartening from the outside, it is also startling. While the woman felt disgusted by such behavior, she tried to keep her cool. Until she snapped. Read on to find out how her story escalated, and be sure to weigh in on the discussion in the comments!

After reading the story, Redditors offered overwhelming support for the woman and shared some insightful thoughts on the whole situation. After all, body image and weight loss are huge issues for millions of people around the world, so the post resonated with many readers. As much as we believe that beauty comes from the inside out, the harsh reality is that the size and shape of your body matters for the majority of society.

In this age when unrealistic beauty standards and diet culture are still a thing, navigating the twists and turns of your own health can be overwhelming. But once you achieve your desired target after weeks, months, or even years of grueling effort and immense courage, all is well, right? Well, as this story proves, not entirely.

Losing a drastic amount of weight is an incredibly demanding process that can take a toll on your physical and psychological health. According to Rachel Goldman, a psychologist in New York City and a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry at NYU School of Medicine, navigating the social shifts that come with this change can be difficult.

Her patients often reveal getting more attention, being approached by strangers, and feeling seen in a way they had never before all because they lost weight. There is this weight bias and negative attitudes towards individuals in a larger body, Goldman said. And after people lose a significant amount of weight, they really do start experiencing this. People are kinder and nicer. And its like theyre no longer invisible.

While the compliments may seem genuine at first, they can ignite a series of doubts and make people lose their self-esteem. It really affects their mental health, their self-image, and self-confidence, trying to understand, How did somebody see them so differently before?' Goldman added.

Its very disappointing and very frustrating, you know, for me as well, being in the mental health field and hearing about these experiences. Its very sad. And this is really why we want to educate the public as much as we can in terms of how harmful weight bias can be.

Thankfully, the body positivity movement has been growing stronger. It has made tremendous strides in increasing acceptance of different body types that would otherwise fall outside unrealistic beauty standards. It has inspired people to make their bodies seen and their voices heard. But while we celebrate these accomplishments, its important to remember that fatphobia is still alive and well. Standing up to it takes strength and courage, something the author of the story demonstrated so well.

While theres a long way to go in dismantling fatphobia, the womans story brings attention to the issue, and we hope that she will find a way to open her family members minds and help them unlearn harmful beauty expectations. Wed love to hear your thoughts about the matter in the comments below. What do you think about the story? Was the woman right to call out her relatives? Feel free to share your opinions, personal experiences, and any tips for people experiencing similar situations in the comments below.

Constipation Can Increase IBD and Cancer Risk: Two Flavors of Tea Relieve Constipation, Aid Weight Loss – The Epoch Times

Posted: September 26, 2022 at 2:04 am

Many people are tormented by constipation. People today have a refined diet, do less exercise, and are more prone to constipation. Almost everyone has suffered from constipation at some time.

The daily feeling of calling something out of the body is sometimes painful and can exceed our tolerance. To get rid of constipation, one should learn more about it.

Constipation is the difficulty in eliminating feces from the body, resulting in motions often less than three times per week. The hard and dry form of feces results in extra energy and time expelling, feeling feces still stuck in the anus and rectum, and even the need for manual assistance.

There are many reasons for constipation. The first one is laziness. Some people are too lazy to go to the toilet. The feces inside become harder, which causes people to be unwilling to defecate. The accumulation of wastes may reach several kilograms in the abdomen, resulting in constipation.

The fragility of the spleen and stomach can also be a cause of constipation. The poor peristaltic movement of the stomach and intestines would make for the slow motion of feces, resulting in the lack of urge for defecation.

Drinking water insufficiently is one of the causes of constipation. Since water can soften feces, they become harder when less water is available. Intake of delicate foods which lacks dietary fibers would likely lead to constipation.

Constipation can lead to damage to the mucous lining of the anus, resulting in ulcers and bleeding. The broken lining exacerbates laceration of the anus and hemorrhoid, which in turn causes proctitis and, in the worst cases, colorectal cancer.

Feces are the waste products of the human body, releasing toxins that accumulate in the rectum. Once the toxicity is absorbed into the body, the skin looks lusterless with the appearance of spots and acne. One then looks older. Constipation may accompany Hiccupping, bitter taste, bad breath, and the releasing wind.

In the worst scenario, one would have an urge to vomit. Since feces block the intestinal tracks, the food swallowed cannot go down further. The food accumulated in the digestive ways causes the desire to vomit. It is the severity of constipation due to blockage of the intestines.

To treat constipation, one can prepare a drink of Chinese hemp seeds, arborvitae seeds, pine nuts, Bunge cherry seeds, and others, which provide lubricating effects for the intestines. One spoonful of powder of any blend of seeds mixed with a spoonful of honey in a glass of warm water should be sufficient. The drink is tasty, provides nourishing food, and can relieve constipation.

Suppose one gets severe constipation and wants to lose weight simultaneously, brew and drink tea with 37.5 grams (1.3 ounces) of Cassia seeds daily. The tea can reduce the oil droplets in the blood and promote the removal of waste products, resulting in weight loss.

One with constipation should exercise regularly. Physical exercise is not only good for stretching body muscles and tendons but also for peristaltic movement. Drink more water which will soften the feces. Furthermore, water can help to remove waste products from the body.

Studies in mice suggest health, cognitive benefits from eating grapes – The Bakersfield Californian

Posted: September 18, 2022 at 2:14 am

A new set of nutritional studies has found that table grapes offer previously unidentified health benefits, adding potentially marketable dietary value to Kern's top-grossing agricultural commodity.

In studies of mice fed the kind of high-fat diets common in Western diets, the addition of grapes yielded reductions in fatty liver, extended lifespans and improved cognition, according to recently published reports.

John Pezzuto and other researchers at Western New England University reported in the journal Foods that research observed actual changes in genetic expression, which he called "truly remarkable."

The report was one of three recently publishedstudiesdone with fruit donated by the California Table Grape Commission, which also helped pay for the research.

A published summary of Pezzuto's work said standard or high-fat diets, which are associated with negative health outcomes, lead to certain gene expressions that "each are modulated by the addition of grapes." Adding grapes, or in this case grape powder, produced changes "more similar to a standard diet than to a high-fat diet."

It went on to say the lifelong inclusion of grapes in a high-fat diet "increases longevity."

Commission President Kathleen Nave noted in a news release California grape growers have supported grape research at more than 70 institutions for more than 20 years.

"Some studies have shown positive effects on health, and others have not been as promising," she stated. "The results reported by John Pezzuto and his team are exciting and rewarding on many levels."

"The potential for improvements in human health is significant as is the strength of the data, which logically supports the need for follow-up work in human clinical trials," Nave added.

Other top crops in Kern notably, pistachios, almonds and citrus have been recognized for their nutritional value, as well, and the grape industry first started promoting grapes as healthy decades ago. But the ones announced by the commission earlier offer new detail on just how beneficial it may be to eat a crop that does well in Kern County.

Another study published in the journal Antioxidants, also by researchers at WNEU, found eating grapes changed the way genes express in the brain. It said the fruit helped behavior and cognition in mice fed a high-fat diet.

The third study, published in Food & Nutrition, presented evidence grapes change metabolism in additional to genetic expression.

How to Remove the "Hidden Fat" in Your Belly Eat This Not That – Eat This, Not That

Posted: September 18, 2022 at 2:14 am

Is your belly fat bothering you? While excess fat of any kind is unhealthy, visceral fat is particularly dangerous. "Abdominal obesity not only increases your risk for a first heart attack or stroke, but also the risk for recurrent events after the first misfortune," says Dr. Hanieh Mohammadi of the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm. "Maintaining a healthy waist circumference is important for preventing future heart attacks and strokes regardless of how many drugs you may be taking or how healthy your blood tests are." Here are five scientifically-backed ways to get rid of belly fat. Read onand to ensure your health and the health of others, don't miss these Sure Signs You've Already Had COVID.

Exercise is a key factor in helping blast belly fat. "Health experts say consistent, moderate exercise by itself appears to help the body rid itself of vast amounts of deep abdominal fat even when your scale doesn't register a loss," says CNN's chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta. "If you're at a good weight, but still have trouble losing that belly fat, make sure you're doing the right kind of exercise. While sit-ups only tighten abdominal muscles, studies show strength training can reduce belly fat. The American College of Sports Medicine agrees the best way to achieve a "six pack" of abs is to focus more on lowering total body fat through aerobic exercise and diet. ACSM also says ab exercises are most effective when tailored to your individual needs. So, consult a trainer who can help you design the best program for you to lose the belly fat."

Eating a diet rich in healthy, nutritious whole foods is important for losing belly fat. "Nutrition plays a vital role in reducing abdominal fat," says Bret Scher, MD. "Many diets that promote weight loss, including vegan diets and chronic caloric restriction, can help people lose belly fat. However, the key is finding a sustainable diet that provides adequate nutrition and still helps you lose belly fat. For many, a low-carb diet may be an effective option, and adding intermittent fasting is also promising."6254a4d1642c605c54bf1cab17d50f1e

Stress-eating may make belly fat worse, experts say. "It's not just a formula of calories in and calories out. What we eat and how much may determine our overall weight, but stress influences where that fat actually gets deposited on our body," says Elissa Epel, PhD. "We know that excessive exposure to cortisol can increase belly fat. So it's logical that stress reduction should minimize it."

Studies show that people who strength train have less belly fat, even if they don't lose weight from the exercise. "Stick with basic moves that work the major muscle groupsshoulders, chest, back, abs, butt, legs, and arms," says Sherri MacMillan, owner of Northwest Personal Training in Portland, Oregon. "As you get stronger, continue to increase your weight load to counter gradual muscle loss."

Research from the Mayo Clinic shows eating breakfast is linked to a decrease in belly fat. "For reasons that we don't quite understand yet, eating breakfast seems to be a marker of, No. 1, less likelihood of having gained weight recently, and, No. 2, a smaller belly circumference and less visceral fat," says cardiologist Dr. Virend Somers. "Those who ate breakfast very frequently put on less than 3 pounds in the past year. Those who ate breakfast maybe one to four times a week put on about 5 pounds. The ones who didn't eat breakfast at all put on about 8 pounds in the year prior to them seeing us."

Alia Bhatt’s baby shower to be a vegan treat. Is it healthy to remain vegan during pregnancy? – The Indian Express

Posted: September 18, 2022 at 2:14 am

When she is not delivering a Rs 100-crore hit, superstar actor Alia Bhatt chooses to lead by example. She celebrates a conscientious lifestyle, making choices that resonate with climate-conscious times. Having turned vegan in 2020 and in the third trimester of her pregnancy, she has now opted for an all-vegan menu for her baby shower. This has obviously led to many questions as to whether a vegan diet is good and nutritious enough for would-be mommies? And for many young people making conscious choices with veganism, is it good enough to sustain during pregnancy?

The question is about wholesome nutrition and vegan food is a medicine that has the power to change the trajectory of our health. Vegan foods can be as rich in protein and vitamins (the two components that are highlighted in every pregnancy diet). The misconception that deficits are brought on by plant-based diets is something that needs to be demolished. Instead, sufficient consumption of them provides all the vital nutrients required, including calcium, proteins, vitamins A, C, as well as B vitamins. Additionally, they are naturally high in fibre and antioxidants, says plant-based food expert Sanjay Sethi.

A plant-based diets major emphasis is on eating more seasonal fruits, vegetables, nuts, and legumes. EATLANCET, which has described the framework of planetary healthy diets, also promotes this way of eating, he adds.

In fact, he argues why animal-based foods frequently contain toxins that enter the human digestive system and cause arterial inflammation, which is damaging to the heart. For mothers prone to hypertension, switching from animal proteins to alternative plant proteins can considerably lower LDL levels.

Subsequently, the inclusion of nuts like almonds and walnuts, flax seeds, and hemp powder that are rich in Omega-3 and protein can help in meeting all nutritional requirements. If you are worried that switching to a plant-based diet would harm your gut because of a lack of probiotics, our traditional household practices like eating food with chutneys and using vinegar-soaked pyaaz aid digestion, says he.

Also, foods like bananas, papayas, raisins, and ginger are great prebiotics that encourage the formation of healthy microbes in the stomach, leading to better immunity. Many people are embracing plant-based diets and becoming flexitarians. In fact, thats the road Ritika Samaddar, Regional head, Department of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics, Max Healthcare, advocates.

For those who find it difficult to make the switch to veganism because of the high costs involved in procuring plant-based food or simply find it difficult to work out their ratios, they can transition through a vegetarian diet and rely on curd and milk sometimes. Otherwise, we have a great tradition of rich, plant-based food like split or green peas, chickpeas, kidney beans, quinoa, bulgur, oatmeal, whole grain cereals and breads, nut butter, walnuts, cashews, pistachios, almonds, soymilk, tofu and lentils. If calcium (an essential pre-requisite for the third trimester) worries you, then just go for milk, cheese and more of green, leafy vegetables.

Says Pareen Sachdeva, a vegan who started Lactose-Free Goddess only to prove that veganism is not about blandness, Veganism is the perfect antidote to food allergies. Many Indians dont even know that their issues related to gut health, like gas and acidity, are caused by some sort of food allergies. For example, very few people know that while milk is an additional baby growth fluid, it is not required by adults. Also, any kind of animal milk brings with it hormones and chemicals that are not synched with the human body, which rejects it. We crave for milk only because lactose is addictive, she says. She prepares bakes, pizzas, patties and even barfis that do not use milk solids or poultry, substituting them with coconut, soy or almond milk. Similarly, plant-based foods and meats are just as good in terms of satiety value and nutrients.

Why do we consume animal meats? Because we are drawn to the flavour and texture, which can be easily replicated. Besides the animals we consume are all herbivores, feeding on plant proteins, she argues. She uses seitan, a plant-based meat substitute. Wheat flour and water are kneaded to make a sticky dough. It is then rinsed to remove the starch, leaving only a mass of pure gluten protein. This has a chewy texture and can absorb any meaty flavour you want. Her potato-sprout burger patties have the same protein value as their animal meat counterpart.

The US-based National Library of Medicine in 2019 found enough evidence to show that well planned vegetarian and vegan diets may be considered safe during pregnancy and lactation, but they require a strong awareness for a balanced intake of key nutrients. A design of pregestational nutrition intervention is required in order to avoid maternal undernutrition and consequent impaired fetal growth.

And while many mothers take iron supplements in the normal course, they could get enough iron from beans, soy, oat bran, barley, pumpkin seeds, dried fruit, spinach and chickpeas. For any deficiency that is not met by dietary inputs, an expectant mother can always rely on doctor-recommended supplements. So theres no need to worry.

DNAfit Review: What It Can and Can’t Tell You – Healthline

Posted: September 18, 2022 at 2:14 am

DNA testing has become increasingly popular over the years, with one of the most prominent companies being DNAfit. DNA testing claims to assess your genetic makeup, ultimately helping users gain insights into their health and fitness that they wouldnt otherwise have. The company can then use this information to tailor a unique workout and diet plan specifically designed for your body.

DNAfit claims to provide some of the most comprehensive DNA testing available. The company also states that it can provide unrivaled insight into users diet, nutrition, fitness, and well-being. However, some of the health claims they make are unsupported by evidence, and theres little scientific evidence for DNA-based personalization. For these reasons, we dont recommend purchasing or using DNAfit kits.

Read on to discover what you need to know about this company and alternatives to consider.

DNAfit is a direct-to-consumer genetic testing company that provides DNA-based insights into diet, fitness, and wellness. The London-based company was founded in 2013 by Avi Lasarow to provide people with a simple way to understand how their genes affect their health and fitness.

The company offers three main products: Diet Fit, Heath Fit, and Circle Premium, with the latter being its most comprehensive option. Each kit provides everything you need to collect a DNA sample from home and send it to their state-of-the-art laboratory for analysis.

Once the results are ready, youll receive a personalized report with actionable insights and recommendations based on your unique genetic makeup.

The primary aim of DNAfit is to provide you with information you can use to improve your health and fitness.

The company offers three different tests, each with a different focus:

We evaluated DNAfit by looking at the companys medical claims and business standards.

Although the company doesnt make any disease claims, some of its health claims are unsupported by solid scientific evidence. For example, personalizing diet and fitness plans according to your genes doesnt correlate with the available evidence.

Likewise, claims that DNA testing results can help you effectively manage stress and sleep are largely unfounded.

In regards to business standards, DNAfit fared well. They have no Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warnings or third-party certifications. Additionally, the company has good privacy standards with SSL encryption and a valid security certificate.

DNAfit is owned by a parent company called Prenetics, which currently doesnt have a Better Business Bureau page. They do, however, have a 3.9-star rating from more than 4,500 reviewers on Trustpilot. Meanwhile, DNAfit has a 3.8-star rating on Trustpilot.

Diet Fit is the most basic of DNAfits offerings. It provides insights into your unique nutrigenetic profile, which is designed to help you understand how your body responds to various types of food and any sensitivities and intolerances you may have. According to the company, youll find out which foods you should eat more or less of to lose weight, maintain weight, or gain muscle with personalized dietary recommendations.

Youll also receive information on building your perfect meal according to how you respond to carbohydrates and fats. You can program the MealPlanner (a personalized meal planning service) with your aim, likes, and dislikes, and it generates a genetically guided recipe plan complete with a shopping list builder.

Health Fit further builds on the diet and nutrient insights from Diet Fit. Youll receive the same insights and have access to the personalized MealPlanner.

Where Health Fit differs is with its fitness response genetic markers. These markers include:

These insights allow you to discover how to optimize your workouts and guide your training choices.

Youll receive information on your stress and sleep profile to help you improve your mental and physical well-being.

Circle Premium is DNAfits most comprehensive offering. In addition to the information provided in Diet Fit and Health Fit, the Circle Premium report is said to assess your genetic risk of certain diseases like dementia, type II diabetes, irritable bowel syndrome, and others.

The aim is to help you better understand your health and take preventive measures like lifestyle changes, check-ups, or more frequent cancer screenings.

It includes over 350 reports covering:

For those thinking of starting a family, the reports provide information on any inherited conditions that could be passed down to future generations.

When you receive your DNAfit report, its important to keep in mind that its only one part of the picture. The results should be used as a guide and not as a certainty.

For example, if your report says you have a higher risk of developing type II diabetes, it doesnt mean youll definitely have the condition in the future. Likewise, a lower risk doesnt necessarily mean symptoms of the condition wont occur.

Remember that your DNA is just one factor in the development of disease. Other important considerations are your lifestyle choices, environment, and more.

The Diet Fit report is easy to understand and isnt too dense in information. It details how your genetics may affect the way you metabolize carbs and fats. It also outlines if you have the required needs for certain vitamins or nutrients.

There are sections for:

The meal planner feature allows you to input your food preferences and generates a genetically tailored meal plan.

The Health Fit report is similar to the Diet Fit report in terms of content and layout. However, it builds on the information with details on how your genes affect fitness levels and provides insights on optimizing your workouts.

It includes:

Theres also information on your stress and sleep profile. The results outline how you cope with stress and your tolerance levels. Youll also find out if youre a warrior or a strategist, which identifies how you process information and perform tasks while under stress.

The Circle Premium report is DNAfits most comprehensive offering. In addition to the information provided in Diet Fit and Health Fit, the Circle Premium report provides the following information:

Youll also discover your ancestry and information on various traits. These include success, behavioral, physical, personality, and gender so you can better understand yourself and your background.

DNAfit claims that they take users privacy very seriously. It was the first company of its kind to become certified by ISO 27001, a globally recognized framework for best practices on information storage and security.

Rather than by name, DNAfit stores your data by ID number and claims that they destroy your samples after use. Your data wont be shared with people outside the company, and DNAfit does not sell your information to third parties.

Here are some other brands that provide DNA testing services. These recommended alternatives have passed Healthlines medical and business standards.

Everlywell provides a convenient way of checking different health issues from allergies to STIs and food sensitivities. However, theres a lack of evidence to support the methods they use for testing food sensitivities. Experts feel that these tests can provide inaccurate and misleading information, so its important to take these results with discretion.

Overall, Everlywell has a solid reputation besides the criticism about their controversial food sensitivity testing. They also use Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA)-certified laboratories, so youre sure of quality service and results.

Everlywell sells a wide range of at-home testing kits that cover:

Like Everlywell, myLAB Box offers a convenient way to test for STIs and other health conditions from the comfort of your home. In addition, they offer free shipping and results in as little as 2 to 5 days.

They offer sensitivity testing for 96 different foods, and they test for IgA, IgG, and IgG4. This might provide a better picture than relying on IgG alone. But, bear in mind that the test doesnt test for food allergies, as this requires IgE antibody testing.

Other home tests sold by myLAB Box include:

FoodMarble uses a type of breathalyzer that claims to help you figure out which foods cause digestive issues. The device is small and portable, so you that can take it with you on the go.

To use it, you simply breathe into the device after eating, and it tells you if the food is digesting properly. The device measures hydrogen levels in your breath, and together with the app, it provides accurate information.

FoodMarble sells two breathalyzers:

If you still decide that youd like to try out DNAfits at-home DNA test kits, there are a few things to keep in mind before purchasing.

You should first talk to your doctor, who can more accurately assess your medical, health, and family history. They might be able to provide personalized suggestions based on your diet and fitness patterns, especially if youre looking to lose weight. They may also be able to provide some insights by talking through factors like stress, sleep, and your general well-being.

Your doctor may also be able to suggest lab or food sensitivity tests that can provide information regarding food intolerances and your risk of certain diseases like diabetes.

The brand passed our business vetting standards, meaning its a reputable company without any FDA or Federal Trade Commission (FTC) warnings against them. There also havent been any lawsuits filed.

DNAfit does not yet have a Better Business Bureau page, and its products do not appear on Amazon.

However, it has a Trustpilot page that scores DNAfit 3.9 out of 5 stars with more than 2,500 reviews. Although the reviews are good overall, some customers were unimpressed. They claim that the information provided is very basic and vague.

Users also reported problems with accessing the app and poor customer service.

In short, probably not. No scientific evidence supports claims that these tests can help you lose weight or improve your fitness.

A 2018 study found that DNA testing couldnt help guide people to a specific weight loss regimen that was more likely to be successful. Although many companies claim these effects, it seems there is no difference in weight loss between people following diets that allegedly match their genotype compared to those on standard diets.

The services offered by DNAfit are not inexpensive, starting at around $150 for Diet Fit. However, there is little scientific evidence underpinning their value, so its unlikely that DNAfit is worth the money.

That said, many of the reviews on Trustpilot are positive, with some people stating they would happily recommend DNAfit. So, it comes down to personal choice and budget as to whether DNAfit is worth it to you.

DNAfit states that their at-home DNA tests are accurate, but its tricky to find specific figures. However, they claim to regularly spot-check their labs to ensure they test samples correctly and provide results that are 100% accurate.

Currently, the FDA has only approved 23andMe for some of their at-home DNA tests. Overall, the industry is not regulated and has no independent analysis to verify the sellers claims, so you should still use caution when purchasing a test.

However, generally, DNA testing is a safe procedure. Most kits require a cheek swab or saliva sample, so there are essentially no associated risks. But, when samples are self-collected at home, theres an increased risk of contamination and inaccuracies.

DNAfit is a direct-to-consumer DNA testing company that offers several different tests, including Diet Fit, Health Fit, and Circle Premium.

The company has a good reputation, with few complaints from customers. However, the scientific evidence underpinning the value of their tests is lacking, and there are health claims unsupported by evidence.

Overall, its unclear whether DNAfit is worth the money, and we dont recommend purchasing or using the service for these reasons.

5 Terrible Eating Habits That Cause Weight Gain – SciTechDaily

Posted: September 18, 2022 at 2:13 am

If you struggle with your weight, it might not just be bad food choices that are to blame. Its also how you eat your meals. Choose what you put on your plate wisely, but also learn how to eat in a way that maximizes the satiety benefits you get from your diet. Here are five habits that can wreak havoc on your best-made weight loss plans.

Eating on the run is a common habit that can lead to weight gain over time. When you eat on the run, you grab convenience foods you can devour in a hurry, and theyre rarely a healthy choice. The problem with eating fast food is that it contains high amounts of fat and sugar, which are linked to obesity and other health problems like diabetes and heart disease.

Fast food can also be expensive compared to preparing your meals at home. Despite the popular belief that fast food is cheap, you can prepare a healthier meal at home for less. Plus, youll pay for that low-nutrition fast food meal later with poor health.

If you wolf down your food, your brain doesnt get the notification that youre full. It takes about twenty minutes for your brain to get that message. Eating on the move also increases cortisol the stress hormone that promotes weight gain in undesirable areas like your waist and abdomen. Slow down and savor your food and appreciate its sensory attributes and youll be more satisfied!

If you know youll be rushed, plan ahead. There are healthy snacks that can tide you over until dinner or lunchtime. For example, try carrots with hummus or half an avocado with a side of whole grain crackers. If you dont have time for a proper meal, grab a salad from your local grocery store or make one yourself using fresh ingredients.

Do you watch your favorite television show or work on the computer while you munch? Such habits can expand your waistline and reduce the enjoyment you get from a meal. You might even eat your meal without tasting it!

We all have bad habits that were not proud of, but they dont need to stay that way. Here are some tips to help you break the bad habit of multitasking while eating:

1) Sit down at a table when you eat. Dont eat in front of the television or computer screen. If possible, create a specific space for eating mealsone thats away from other activities like watching TV or working on your computer.

2) Turn off electronics before sitting down to eat. No checking email, reading tweets, or watching videos while you eateven if its just for 10 minutes! This is an important step because it will help you focus on what youre eating. With this strategy, youll enjoy your food more and feel satisfied after every meal.

3) Take small bites and chew slowly. This allows your brain time to recognize youre full, so you dont overeat! It also ensures you taste and appreciate whats going into your body.

Research shows the size of the plate or bowl you eat out of can affect how much you eat. If you dine on larger dinnerware, food looks smaller on the plate, and you feel like youre eating less. Therefore, youre more likely to go back for seconds. In contrast, a meal looks like more when its on a small plate, so youre satisfied with less. If you want to cut back on your calorie intake without suffering from hunger pangs, try setting your table with smaller dishes.

Choose subdued colors for your plates too. Red, orange, and yellow are bright, motivating colors that stimulate appetite, while muted shapes of blue, green, or brown are less likely to perk up your appetite and cause you to eat more.

Research findings suggest people consume more calories while dining with others than when eating alone. Why? When you eat with others, you focus less on your food because youre distracted by conversation and good times.

Plus, with social events, youre more likely to justify ordering a high-calorie dessert or sipping a high-calorie alcoholic beverage. You may feel like its expected or socially acceptable to consume more calories at restaurants than at home.

For example, if everyone around the table orders an appetizer or dessert, one persons indulgent choice can influence everyone elses choices. Plus, drinking alcohol can cause you to lose track of how much youre eating.

Stick with meals balanced in terms of protein, carbohydrates, and fats (like salmon with brown rice and broccoli). And if youre going out for dinner with friends or family members who are less than healthy eaters? Maybe you can talk them into ordering something healthier.

Weve all been there: youre in a stressful situation, and all you want is comfort food. Maybe its a giant bowl of ice cream or a plate of fries. But heres the thing: eating your feelings doesnt make you feel better! It can also cause weight gain.

Eating high-calorie foods when youre stressed can increase your blood sugar levels, increase insulin production, and tell your body to store fat rather than burn it off. That means instead of losing weight because youre stressed about work, you might start gaining weight because of stress!

So, what should you do? Put down the ice cream (or dont buy it at all) and find other ways to alleviate stresslike listening to music or talking with friends who make you laugh.

Eating better isnt just about making healthier food choices. Its also about creating an environment that helps you resist temptation. Keep these tips in mind to avoid eating habits that cause weight gain.
