The star just revealed on Instagram hes down a whopping 90 lbs. Bronson is clearly working for it. He showed off his moves, including lifting 80-lb. weights, pushing a giant tire, and push-ups. He even flexed for the camera.

He wrote in the caption, 90 POUNDS DOWN. STRENGTH DEVELOPING NICELY. YOU HAVE THE POWER TO MAKE ANY CHANGES YOU WANT IN YOUR LIFE. TAKE CONTROL.

Bronson has been documenting his workouts on Instagram, and is a serious foodie who hosts Vicelands Fk, Thats Delicious. See another photo of his transformation here, taken by his trainer Dave Paladino.

He recently told Seth Meyers hes taking a break from some of his favorite foods and opting for green juice instead.

Green juice is a beautiful thing, Bronson said. Kale, celery, green apple, ginger, a little lemon. Its one of the greatest things on earth. Its lowered my cholesterol, its taken away chance of diabetic situations. Ive lost like 80 f--king pounds, man. Eighty pounds is a lot of weight...

The 36-year-old insisted that after losing even more weight, he would allow myself to have some fun.

In May, he told TMZ he was down 50 lbs. and also credited healthy eating, juicing, and working out.

He added, I do cook every day, about three or four meals for my wife, because we have a brand-new baby She is giving nourishment to our baby, so she needs to be nourished as well.

One of the hard-to-avoid side effects of spending such an extended period of time indoors over the last several months has been that a lot of people have gained weight. Without any real routine, and snacks within reach at all times, it's been far too easy to put on the quarantine 15.

But for YouTuber Aaron Burriss, having this unprecedented amount of free time presented the ideal opportunity to make some positive changes to his diet and lifestyle. Over the course of four months, he dropped from 230 pounds to 185 pounds.

"I've lost 45 pounds during quarantine," he says. "Which was really hard to do, given that we were stuck at home and, honestly, given the chance to just sit on the couch and watch Netflix and eat pizza and cookies and just really bad food."

"Luckily, my brother and I live together, and he a huge motivator," he continues. "He motivated me a lot to work out. So with him working out with me, eating right, and just being active and having a goal, I was able to do it."

Four months later, Aaron is visibly slimmer. "I look very skinny, I feel very very light," he says. "As you can tell, my man boobs [are gone] and I don't have love handles any more.

He adds that there is still some belly fat that has been "a real pain to get rid of." In an attempt to lean down even further, he has recently started incorporating cardio into his workouts specifically running. "It's so different, and so much harder than I expected," he says.

Now that he has lost the weight, Aaron intends to focus his efforts on building strength and muscle, with the goal of getting into the absolute best shape of his life by the end of the year.

Derrick Lewis already has the most knockouts in UFC heavyweight history, but he believes after shedding a few more pounds, he might be even more terrifying when he next sets foot in the octagon.

The Houston native closed out the UFC Vegas 6 card on Saturday night with a punishing performance, finishin Aleksei Oleinik with vicious punches in the second round. Ahead of the fight, Lewis upped his training regimen, and while he tipped the scales at 265 pounds, he looked in better shape than almost any of his previous UFC fights.

According to Lewis, thats just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to his potential now that hes approaching his fight career with a little more focus and discipline.

I owe it to the fans, Lewis said at the post-fight press conference. I owe it to everyone that supports me. I got to really take it more serious than what I have been.

Lewis has said in the past that hes not the most dedicated fighter when it comes to his training sessions. But now, hes looking to change that.

With plans to drop another 15 or 20 pounds before competing again, Lewis anticipates an even better showing when he returns to the UFC for his next fight.

Ive really been eating whatever I want and just been training a lot longer than 30 minutes this camp, Lewis said. Weve just been training a lot more. Ive still been eating bass [fish], still been eating Popeyes and stuff like that. Just been training more. For sure, Ill be a lot quicker, a lot more agile, a lot more aggressive and everything.

I for sure have to get down 15, 20 pounds to feel comfortable in there, and you really will see something scary out of me for sure.

While his immediate plans involve a return home to see his family, followed by dieting and training to get his weight in order, Lewis knows that as the No. 4 ranked heavyweight, there are many options for his next fight.

He mentioned names like Francis Ngannou and Alistair Overeems as potential opponents, but he had barely left the octagon before fellow heavyweight Curtis Blaydes called him out.

Judging by his comments, Lewis would happily accept that challenge.

Thatd be perfect to fight Curtis next, Lewis said. All hes going to do is try to grab me and hold me and try to win a decision. Hes not going to try to finish me. If he do try to finish me, thats fine, but I do believe I can take Curtis down and punish him on the ground.

The turning point:

I have been working as a full-time travel content creator for the past 12 years now. I led a pretty unhealthy lifestyle which made me pile on weight. I weighed 126.6 kilos in January this year, which was the highest ever. That was when I decided to bring in a little bit of discipline and get in shape. The lockdown period served as the perfect time to do so.

My breakfast: I start off my day with a cup of black coffee. Post that, I go for a healthy breakfast option like oats or millet dosa with some chutney.

My lunch: 1-2 chapatis with a bowl of vegetables or curry which would be heavy on protein, such as paneer.

My dinner: I prefer to have a lighter meal, such as a bowl of soup or grilled veggies.

Pre-workout meal: I do not have a pre-workout meal as such. Walking has been extremely beneficial for me. Depending on my schedule, I have something simple like a cup of black coffee or warm water before heading out. That is enough for me.

Post-workout meal: Post my walk, I have something filling such as nuts (almonds) with a serving of seasonal fruits.

I indulge in (What you eat on your cheat days): I am very proud to say that I haven't cheated on my diet ever since I started my diet. It has been five months since I had anything oily, fried, chocolatey, sugar.

My workout: Walking is my go-to exercise. Initially, I could only go about walking for 4-5 kilometres and that too with difficulty.

Since its lockdown and I am not travelling for the last 4 months, I have been doing almost 3-4 hrs walk to cover 10-15 km walk/run.

Low-calorie recipes I swear by: Paneer bhurji, baingan bharta are some of the things I really like eating.

Fitness secrets I unveiled: More than the diet or exercise, it's the discipline that matters.

I never followed any fad diet such as Keto or went to the gym. Clean eating and a good fitness regime helped me lose 41 kilos this year. Don't listen to others, just stick to basics

How do I stay motivated? I keep thinking of all the things I can do once I am fit and that is enough to motivate me.

For example, I always wanted to do skydiving and with my weight, I couldn't do it. I did bungee jumping with great difficulty a couple of years ago when I weighed 119 kgs and the deadline was 120 kgs.

How do you ensure you dont lose focus? On days I feel lazy or tired, I just try to do a simpler workout, or walk less. But I do exercise and not skip it entirely. Once you get in the flow of things, you won't find a reason to stop.

Whats the most difficult part of being overweight? One is physical appearance. People start looking at you in a different way and your self-confidence goes down. Weight gain also dips your energy levels. Before my weight loss, I was too lethargic and lazy. I couldn't even wear the stuff that I did like. Once, I was size XXXL, and now I have come down to size M.

What shape do you see yourself 10 years down the line? I didn't begin my journey with a final goal weight. I do, however, want to follow a healthier and fitter lifestyle. Some years down the line, I want to be able to run a marathon.

Gained the Quarantine 15? How to stop shaming yourself for pandemic weight gain – CNET

A therapist shares advice for accepting weight gain and how to cultivate a healthy body image.

The #Quarantine15 started trending not long after the onset of the coronavirus pandemic when self-quarantines, lockdowns and stay-at-home orders were put into place. With so many people who were once used to hitting a gym, going to fitness classes or just moving around more in general now forced to stay home, gaining weight was basically a running joke.

Now that the pandemic continues without an end in sight, it's no laughing matter -- especially for those that struggle with their weight, body image or even eating disorders. Quarantine weight gain is real but it's not something to be ashamed of. It's normal to expect that your body may change when life has changed in such a drastic way -- and that's OK. Whether you are not as active and sitting more, going through a stressful time or not eating healthily because you're now working full-time as well as taking care of children or sick loved ones, there is no need to feel shame or that you "failed" because you gained weight.

If you're struggling with negative feelings around your body or weight right now, keep reading for advice from Eliza Kingsford, a licensed psychotherapist and behavior-change specialist who helps clients struggling with food addiction, body image, emotional eating and weight loss. Below, she shares her best advice on how to work on accepting weight gain and moving forward in a healthier physical and mental place.

Shame and guilt around weight can be a huge obstacle to feeling better.

When you're unhappy with your current weight or not feeling the best about your body, it's easy to get trapped in a cycle of guilt or shame. But guilt and shame can be huge obstacles to overcome on the way to feeling better, which is the goal at the end of the day.

"Even if you have gained weight, even if you don't love what you see in the mirror, even if you are working on a better relationship to food and body, the shame and the guilt that goes on top of it has never served anyone," Kingsford says. "No one has ever shamed themselves into a better job, or shamed themselves into being a better parent, or shamed themselves into being a better partner."

One of the best ways to break any cycle of guilt or negative comparison is to work on ways to pivot your thought process and try to focus on positive things instead of letting your mind spiral into guilt or shame. One way to change your thought patterns for the better is by cultivating a gratitude practice.

"People think that gratitude is kind of a nice to have, or woo-woo hokey thing," Kingsford says, "but from a scientific brain research perspective, the more time we spend focusing on and intentionally looking at what we are grateful for, it lights up the parts of our brains that are connected to positivity, happiness, positive feelings and what makes us feel good."

She recommends coming up with a simple practice like starting each day writing down five to 10 things you are grateful for (anything big or small). Then take the time to really feel that gratitude -- be careful not to rush through the list and move on.

During the COVID-19 crisis, people are disconnected from their friends, family or community IRL and so we are spending more time on social media. And whileInstagramin particular can be a great place to find inspiration when it comes to fitness and nutrition, it can also contribute to comparisons and make you feel inadequate, or like you're not keeping up with others who seem to be doing all the home workouts and making beautiful smoothies.

"If you are finding yourself scrolling through your feed and feeling worse, be able to recognize that," Kingsford says. "If you see someone one the screen and find yourself saying, 'Oh I could never have those abs,' you need to intentionally practice stopping and becoming aware of what you just said to yourself and saying something else like: 'She has beautiful abs. There's room for my beauty too.'"

When we don't recognize this shame and comparison spiral, it can be dangerous because, according to Kingsford, scrolling and making comparisons can make you feel worse without really noticing it at first.

"So you've got to take action and stop scrolling or unfollow anyone that triggers negative emotions," she suggests.

You can do that by taking an honest look at how much time you're spending on your phone, and then cultivate awareness around what posts and accounts trigger negative emotions. From there you can do a social media "audit" and try to curate a more positive feed. Tip: If you don't want someone on Instagram to see that you unfollowed them, you can always mute them instead and they won't know. That means they won't show up in Instagram stories or on your feed or both.

Try stepping away from the scale so you can shift your focus off of your weight.

It may seem counterintuitive, but one of the best things you can do for a healthy body (and mind) is to try to stop focusing on or obsessing about your weight. One way you can do that is by stepping away from the scale, and staying away from it while you're focusing on building more positive habits and a positive mindset around weight.

Then, Kingsford recommends taking a deeper look around why you want to lose weight. Sure, there's nothing wrong with wanting to lose weight and feel better physically, but often there is another emotional element. "Weight is a representation of something that you want to feel. And you think you are going to feel whatever it is when your weight hits that number," she says.

For example, if someone says they want to lose 50 pounds, Kingsford's next question is, "What do you think will be different when you lose 50 pounds?" And often clients will start listing things like, "I'll feel more confident, connected to my partner, I'll feel more empowered." She says it's important to get clear on how you want to feel, not how you want to look since, "weight is just a representation of the feelings you're looking to get towards."

Once you identify the feeling you want, whether that is to feel more confident, attractive or empowered, you can then focus on actionable things that can help you get closer to that feeling that you are seeking but maybe didn't realize before when you were only focused on extra weight.

"What are the things that I would be doing everyday that would produce that feeling? That is really the question," Kingsford says. "So when we're talking about what I can be eating, or should I be working out, the question I want to ask myself is, 'Does this food or activity or lack of activity get me closer to those feelings of empowerment, embodiment, connection, joy or whatever it is?' And that's a different way to look at your actions and behaviors."

Today, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 70% of Americans are overweight or obese. And apparently, we know it. As of 2019, the weight-loss market totaled a whopping $72 billion in the U.S.

A portion of this market share belongs to commercial diet plans that enroll members or subscribers into programs or plans that are designed to educate them on the principles of healthy eating and weight loss that the company has developed. They typically include counseling and one-on-one support , and sometimes they sell supplements or food items to further support weight-loss goals.

A relatively recent entry into this niche of the diet industry is GOLO, the Newark, Delaware-based company founded in 2009 that offers a metabolic plan and supplements that are intended to help you lose weight. Its an acronym for GoLose Weight, GoLook Great, GoLove Life. GOLO reports that 500,000 people have used the diet.

Jennifer Brooks, president of GOLO, says GOLOs Metabolic Plan is based on eating real, whole foods while avoiding processed and packaged foods. Its not a conventional diet but rather a healthy eating plan.

Elena Gagliardi, clinical nutrition services manager in the ambulatory nutrition services department at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose, California, says the diet is designed to help people who are overweight or obese obtain a balance of nutrients from conventional foods, eat defined portioned meals leading to gradual weight loss and participate in a low to moderate level of daily exercise.

The plan includes directions on how to put together meals to support sustainable weight loss, and Brooks says one of its best aspects is that nothing is off limits all the time. You can still enjoy a birthday dinner or night out and not ruin your progress. And, if you feel you over-indulged, you can get right back on track.

Foods on the GOLO Diet

GOLO emphasizes eating real, whole foods, and Brooks notes that you dont have to look for unusual ingredients or things youve never heard of to follow GOLO.

Recommended foods include:

Proteins such as chicken, beef and fish.

Grains such as bread, pasta, rice, potatoes and oatmeal.

All vegetables.

All fruits.

Dairy products such as milk, cheese and butter.

Nuts.

We dont tell you specific things that you have to eat, but simply give you a guideline to follow, Brooks explains. The diet does recommend limiting your portions and keeping total daily calories to less than 1,800. Since you choose the foods you eat, you can personalize the plan to your own individual tastes and preferences, and no food is strictly forbidden. We find that this significantly increases the chances of customer success as it puts them in control.

Correcting Insulin Resistance

One of the key factors that sets GOLO apart from other commercial diet plans is its premise that individuals who struggle with weight loss do so because of hormone imbalances, says Matthew Black, a registered dietitian at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus. The idea is that these hormone imbalances will eventually damage your metabolism, further preventing you from being able to lose weight.

GOLO specifically targets the hormone insulin, with an eye to correcting insulin resistance, a condition in which your bodys cells do not respond to insulin as efficiently as they should, and can serve as a precursor to Type 2 diabetes, Black explains, a condition known as prediabetes.

GOLO claims these hormone imbalances, including insulin resistance, can be fixed with proper diet, activity and by taking GOLOs proprietary supplement called Release. Insulin resistance typically doesnt cause any noticeable symptoms, and you would need to be evaluated by your primary care provider in order to be properly diagnosed, Black adds. Plus, Gagliardi notes that the insulin hypothesis is not consistently supported by research.

Nevertheless, GOLOs aim, Brooks says, is to help people lose weight in a healthy, sustainable and realistic way and not be reliant on the diet industry. Leveraging a Supplement for Faster Weight Loss

That trial compared the weight loss outcomes of a group of dieters following GOLOs Metabolic Plan alone to a second cohort using the metabolic plan plus the Release supplement. Both groups did lose weight, but the group that took Release lost 79% more weight and 209% more inches around their waists than the placebo group during the same period of time.

The Release supplement contains a patented formulation containing seven natural plant-based ingredients and three minerals zinc, magnesium and chromium. Black says these minerals have demonstrated potential effects on improving insulin resistance, but studies are limited.

The supplement also contains a number of plant extracts that are considered generally safe and have shown some effectiveness for improving metabolic processes in studies, including:

Banaba leaf extract.

Rhodiola rosea.

Berberine.

Salacia reticulata extract.

Gardenia jasminoides fruit extract.

Apple polyphenol fruit extract.

Myo-inositol.

With regard to the efficacy of the supplement, Black notes that the company only provides highlights of the studies that were conducted. GOLO doesnt divulge all the details of these studies, other than quoting random statistics when compared to placebo. As with any research study, its important to know all of the data, rather than trying to make conclusions based on favorable highlights. The studies were not published in a peer-reviewed journal and Gagliardi adds that since the author was funded by the GOLO company, theres a conflict of interest and therefore the results are questionable.

In addition, Black says that generally speaking, using supplements isnt typically recommended for weight loss, nor should supplements be used to treat insulin resistance, especially without guidance from a health care practitioner. He notes that its possible to reverse insulin resistance just by decreasing your caloric intake, losing weight and increasing physical activity.

Gagliardi agrees that the supplement might not be necessary. From her perspective, looking at the principles of the diet in terms of what to eat and how much, Gagliardi says, its a good one. Plus, the Release supplement, which GOLO insists is a vital part of its weight-loss plan, appears to lack independent, peer-reviewed research and is costly, so you may want to consider this before making the expense, Black adds. The hard truth is, if you continue to consume too many calories and live a sedentary lifestyle, then you probably are still looking for a magic pill solution to weight loss.

Gagliardi recommends being wary of supplements that say proprietary blend. Never take a supplement from a company that does not disclose its level of ingredients. It may not be standardized and you may get a vastly different amount from one bottle to the next, or none at all. While most cats and dogs are still being fed 'conventional' wet and dry food, there has been a distinct shift in feeding practices over the past decade to include raw and home-made foods, particularly in Australia, finds an international study, published in this week's issue ofVet Record.

These 'unconventional' diets may help nurture the bond between pets and their owners, but they may also be storing up health problems for these animals, warn the researchers.

Over half the world's population has a pet: in the US alone there are more than 94 million pet cats and 89 million pet dogs.

There is a vast array of 'conventional' wet (tinned, pouches, rolls) and dry (kibble) commercial food options for cats and dogs in developed countries.

But trends in animal nutrition have mirrored those of human nutrition, with the content and origin of commercially available foodstuffs coming in for closer scrutiny. As such, pet owners have been exploring alternative options, including vegan, natural 'ancestral', grain-free, home-made and raw food diets for their dogs and cats.

To look at the extent of this shift over the past decade, the researchers trawled research databases for studies on feeding practices for pet dogs and cats in English-speaking countries and published between 2008 and 2018.

They found nine relevant studies, which indicate that pet feeding practices have changed over the past decade, with a decline in 'conventional products', particularly as the sole diet, and an increase in 'unconventional' diets, especially raw foods.

"In comparison with earlier studies, the differences in feeding practices may partially be explained by a loss of trust in the pet food industry," suggest the researchers, citing a large global pet food contamination crisis that occurred in 2007.

The researchers also mined the 3161 (88%) responses to a widely distributed online survey, from pet owners in Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada, and the UK. The survey, which ran from September 2016 to January 2017, asked pet-owners what they fed their dogs and cats, and where they sourced it.

Half the respondents had dogs (51%; 1870); 1 in 3 had both cats and dogs (33%; 1200); and around 1 in 6 (16%; 603) only cats. Complete dietary information was provided for 1542 cats and 2940 dogs.

This showed that most animals were fed a diet that included some conventional food (79% of dogs; 90% of cats). But only 13% (381) dogs and around a third (32%; 488) of cats were exclusively fed a conventional diet for their main meals.

Many respondents said they fed their animals a diet that included home-made foods (63.5% of dogs; 45.5% of cats), although few were fed this diet exclusively (7% of dogs; 3.5% of cats).

Raw animal foods were fed to over half of all the animals represented in the survey: two thirds of dogs (66%) and 53% of cats. Vegetarian food was included in the diets of around 1 in 5 (22%) dogs and 1 in 20 (5%) cats. Half of these animals were fed only plant based (vegan) foods.

Feeding practices varied among the countries represented in the survey: exclusive raw food diets were most common in Australia, while exclusive home-made diets were more commonly fed to dogs in Australia and cats in the USA.

Pet-owners in Canada and New Zealand were most likely to feed their dogs and cats an exclusively conventional diet.

"Avoidance of conventional pet foods in favour of [home-made] and [raw food products] may put the health of dogs and cats at risk," warn the researchers, citing published analyses indicating insufficient levels of nutrients or imbalances in these diets and associated health conditions.

Home-made raw food diets pose an additional risk of infection in the absence of chemical or heat treatment steps to kill potentially harmful bacteria and act as a potential reservoir of antibiotic resistant microbes which can be passed on to people, they add.

"Considering the high prevalence of unconventional feeding practices, veterinary healthcare teams must be aware of the potential risks and benefits of these practices and educate their clients to help best meet the nutritional needs of their companion animals," they conclude.
