Following this event, Wilson began studying theater. However, her natural affinity for comedy led her to pursue comedy, and she developed quite a name for herself in local clubs in Australia.

Eventually, Wilson made the move to Hollywood, where she began acting in movies such as What to Expect When Youre Expecting and Bachelorette. She is perhaps best known for the role of Fat Amy in the Pitch Perfect film series however, in real life, Wilson has undergone a drastic slim down.

In early 2020, Wilson shocked fans when she posted a series of photos to her Instagram, debuting a trim figure and a happy smile. Fans were quick to notice the change in Wilson.

Still, as the actress revealed, her new look can be attributed to a new devotion to a healthy lifestyle, rather than a fad diet. Wilson claimed that, for her, 2020 was going to be the Year of Health. She stated that she has been working out hard in the gym, hydrating, and actively avoiding junk food and excessive sugar.

The actress revealed that she initially lost a great deal of weight while filming the musical Cats, but was so inspired by the positive changes that she saw, that she wanted to keep the ball rolling.

For months, fans have been wondering how exactly Wilson has been managing to maintain her healthy lifestyle and how she got started on that track in the first place. According to sources, Wilson first got inspired to get healthy when she visited a luxury medical detox and wellness center called VivaMayr. While there, Wilson was introduced to the Mayr Method, a specialized diet plan that allowed Wilson to see some truly incredible results.

The Mayr Method, according to the assistant medical director of VivaMayr, Dr. Christine Stossier, completely revamps peoples diets in order to eliminate snacking, reduce gluten and dairy intake and change how people chew their food. Whole foods are the central focus of the diet, with devotees consuming foods like fresh fish, lots of vegetables, and yogurt.

It isnt just the food that matters, either on the Mayr Method, people are instructed to chew very slowly, often counting chews. This approach is said to aid digestion and reduce inflammation.

While this specialized diet might not work for everyone, it certainly has worked for Rebel Wilson. The comedian is looking happier and healthier than ever on her social media pages, and her career is on fire.

Think about it: For some people, they gain or lose first in the belly, hips, or thighs; for others, that weight might go straight to or from the boobs. Or, you may notice the weight leave your face immediately, for instance.

The truth is, as much as you think you might be targeting certain areas for weight loss with so-called belly fat-busting or butt and thigh workouts,studieshave found that you can't necessarily control where fat loss occurs. But do some body parts naturally slim down at a faster rate? Experts explain what areas of the body tend to trim down firstand why.

First of all, weight loss is going to be a different scenario between men and women. "Men and women tend to lose weight differently based on the types of fat they contain and childbearing factors," says Romy Block, MD, an endocrinologist and co-founder ofVous Vitamin.

For example,researchhas shown that women have more subcutaneous fat, a type of fat that deposits right underneath the skin and is partially responsible for women's curves, than men. The first place men typically lose weight is the belly, while women tend to lose weight all over, but hold onto weight in their thighs and hips, Dr. Block explains.

When it comes to weight loss, though, it's less about your natural body shape and more about genetics,how your hormones work, andyour metabolism, says Dr. Block. Regardless, she adds, you can't choose a specific area of focus for weight loss.

Janet Brill, PhD, RD, a Philadelphia-based nutritionist, theorises that where fat melts off on your body first is totally different for everyone, and you might lose weight from wherever you last gained it. "If you tend to gain weight around your waist, you'll likely lose weight from your midsection first as well," says Brill. Meanwhile, if weight goes straight to your boobsas it does for many womenyou'll probably notice it leave your chest first, too.

In some cases, you might lose weight from around your internal organs as well. Dr. Block notes that this is the case specifically in people who have NASH, or non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Even losing 5 percent of your body weight can boost the function of organs like the liver.

The other factor at play when it comes to where you shed weight is Mother Nature's plan for your body to be always be ready to get pregnant. For that reason, many women say that the fat around their hips, butts, and thighs stays put for the first several weeks of a weight-loss regimenwhile their backs, calves, and even their faces begin to thin out much sooner.

"The fat on these body parts [the hips, butt, and thighs] is crucial for childbearing," says Brill, "which is why most women notice that their body naturally hangs onto it as long as possible." The increased fat in these areas is related to the higher levels of estrogen necessarily for fertility, Dr. Block adds.

As people near menopause, weight gain may shift to the belly. Because you have lower estrogen levels duringmenopause, more fat might distribute to the abdominal area, says Dr. Block.

In a perfect world, you could switch things up so you lose weight from where you want to first. But the fact is,you don't really have much control over where the pounds peel off firstwith one caveat: "When you work out, your metabolism increases, and that helps get rid of some of the visceral fat that goes to your stomach and abs area," Brill says. It's just a modest difference and doesn't count as spot reducingbut it's something to keep in mind if your body hangs onto belly fat forever and you want the waistband of your jeans to feel roomier faster.

Other than potentially speeding up your metabolism, focused exercise is not going to shed weight in any one specific area. Your body has a mind of its own in terms of deciding where to lose weight and when, the experts say.

However, the healthiest way to lose weight is a combination of diet and exercise. That's really keyone without the other won't have as much of a long-term impact. "Diet will directly impact stored energy, while exercise will increase your metabolism and help you keep the weight off," Dr. Block says.

Don't think of weight loss as a sprintreally, it's a marathon. "Small changes[to your diet and exercise plans] can make big differences over time and impact your health and energy in a significant way," Dr. Block says.

Even cutting out high-calorie drinks, including your favorite flavoured latte and mixed drinks, is a good place to start. Of course, leveling up your exercise routine also can positively impact your metabolism (HIIT workoutscan help you blast fat and increase your endurance, too).

Adding more movement to your life, Dr. Block says, like walking around the block an extra time and adding more stairs as opposed to elevators to your routine, can also contribute.

Continued care: In the face of Trump’s rollback of LGBTQ-plus health care protections, Planned Parenthood isn’t going anywhere – New Times SLO

Between a landmark Supreme Court ruling for the LGBTQ-plus community and a Trump administration rule that goes in the opposite direction, this year's Pride Month has been one of both victory and distress for members of the queer community.

But no matter what the federal government decrees, Planned Parenthood Central Coast wants residents to know that they will continue to get the services they need.

"Regardless of your sexual orientation or gender identity, where you're from, the language you speak, or whether you've had an abortion, every person deserves access to health care, free from judgement and discrimination," Planned Parenthood Central Coast CEO and President Jenna Tosh said. "I think especially during a public health crisis, any rule that makes it harder for marginalized people to access health care is unconscionable."

U.S. Rep. Salud Carbajal (D-Santa Barbara) echoed this sentiment, saying that the Trump administration "is looking at every way to continue to undermine [protections], in this case health benefits, to members of the LGBTQ community."

Tosh explained that the Trump administration's June 12 ruling, which rolls back nondiscrimination protections for sex and gender identity put in place by the Affordable Care Act, will allow "health care providers, hospitals, and insurance companies that receive federal funding to refuse to provide or cover services such as LGBTQ health care."

But, she said, this will not have any immediate impact on Planned Parenthood patients' ability to get access to care.

"At Planned Parenthood we provide care to everyone," Tosh emphasized. "The main concern here is that, in reading about these types of rules, this could have a chilling effect: It could make trans folks more reluctant to seek care with trusted health care providers."

In addition to welcoming folks regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, Planned Parenthood Central Coast started providing gender affirming care about a year ago, Tosh said.

"We spoke to patients and activists in the community who told us that the closest place for many trans folks to get access to gender affirming hormone care in Santa Maria was to travel to San Luis Obispo," she said. "So over the past year we've served over 300 patients at our five health centers. And right now, during COVID-19, we're seeing even more through telehealth."

Planned Parenthood's Vice President of Community Engagement Julie Mickelberry wrote via email about the gender affirming services the organization provides.

"Gender affirming hormone therapy, sometimes referred to as Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), consists of either estrogen based or testosterone based treatments," she said. "While not all transgender people medically transition, gender affirming hormone therapy is an essential part of transition for many transgender people."

Mickelberry said that the Planned Parenthood team "will work with patients to determine how to pay for gender affirming care services, whether they have insurance or not. We provide care to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay."

Integrity is everything – The Bookseller

Over the past few months, weve been more swamped by misinformation than ever before. As if current events werent confusing and anxiety-causing enough, were also awash in unfounded rumours, inaccurate hot takes, conspiracy theories, and dangerously unscientific medical advice.

It seems that anyone with a Twitter account can expound their theory that lemons cure Covid, protests are backed by the Illuminati, or 5G is slowly turning us into hamsters. Social media is the natural spawning point for misinformation: it is too fast, too unmoderated, and too irresponsible.

By contrast, we have the book.

No one can ever accuse publishing of being too quick to respond to current events. The creation of a book is a slow and stately process. Nor is a book an unmoderated channel: it passes through hand after hand; gatekeeper after gatekeeper. And, in stark contrast to the hand-washing routine of the major social media platforms, a publisher takes responsibility for the books they produce.

These factors - the time, the judgement, and the responsibility - set books apart from other forms of media. Accordingly, one of the great virtues of the book is the authority it conveys. Unlike a Facebook post (or even the occasional online column), writing a book is understood as an expression of expertise. It is the tangible proof of ones 10,000 hours; something that an author can point to and say, quite literally, I wrote the book on it.

For publishers, this remains one of the sectors unique selling points - a marketable benefit when it comes to recruiting prominent voices to pen profitable books. Politicians, vloggers, reality stars, and business titans are drawn to publishing by the authority the book conveys: the money is undoubtedly handy, but they could rake it in more efficiently elsewhere, and with far less effort involved. Theres a prestige to being an author, an additional gravitas that comes with printed expertise.

For readers, reading a book is how we learn; how knowledge is safely carried from author to reader, across generations. Every part of our educational and cultural system assures us that books are inherently authoritative. Books are how we learn things; the right things. We understand that books, unlike social media, cannot contain misinformation.

But is that true?

Just in recent years, weve seen books on mental health that actively discourage psychiatry, diet handbooks that cause eating disorders, and political histories that are thinly veiled anti-Semitic conspiracy theories. These are the equal of any bizarre post on Facebook, yet unlike Aunt Beas Paintshopped memes, this misinformation comes in book form, given all the authority and credibility thereof.

These seem like extreme cases, but theyre only a few, easily-Googled examples. Nor are any of these books self-published, an industry that comes with its own lack of policing and oversight. These are all titles for mainstream audiences from major publishers. There are also the business as usual challenges of plagiarism, inaccuracies, and deadly mistakes.

The publisher made the choice to acquire the book, and from that moment, their fates are inextricably linked. The publisher markets the book; they sell it to retailers; they design the cover for maximum attention and tidy up the layout to make sure the contents can be consumed with the least possible effort. The publisher is responsible for disseminating the book, and the information within it.

Scarily, the book is often just the beginning. The platform for future dissemination. Off the back of the authority given - and the publicity provided - the author does the festival circuit, the radio show, the Guardian feature... They are now a reputable voice on mental health, nutrition, or religious authority. Why question them? They wrote the book on it.

Everyone relies on publishing to provide the critical scrutiny. But are we providing it?

For each individual book, publishers need to factor in the resources they need to ensure this doesnt happen as par. It is unfair to expect a single non-fiction editor, or even team, to be an expert on everything from mental health to football to mushrooms. Nor is a full peer review process necessary for every YouTubers diet book, but building in the time and money for meaningful oversight would only help the final product - and ultimately avoid costly mistakes. The balance of artistic quality and commercial efficiency is the strain at the heart of publishing, but inaccuracy comes with risks beyond any mere typo.

The second problem is systemic. The authority a book conveys is one of its major selling points - to both authors and readers. If this authority is consistently undermined, it cheapens the value of the book as a trustworthy vehicle for conveying ideas. Why read the book when it is no more trustworthy (and far more inaccessible than) YouTube? Books are already the most effort-intensive way of learning about a subject, and, with the loss of credibility, there goes their last competitive advantage.

The mainstream media, in the rush to please, has already run aground on the discovery that misinformation can undermine public trust. Publishing cant afford to be the next in line. That means publishing - not necessarily less - but better. Making the publisher brand stand for something again: not just an empty logo on the spine of a book, but a promise of accuracy and quality.

At last, the day of independence is almost upon us.The moment where we all emerge out of our 100-day hibernation,blinking into the sunlight like the animals dismountingNoah's Ark. And the sight that greets uswill be similar yet oh sodifferent to the world we left behind.

You may have no time for such hyperbole, but with all the guidelines in place there are certain aspects of'Super Saturday' that will be as confusing as Rishi Sunak looking for a pub in a home appliances shop. For while pubs, museums and hairdressers (to name a few) are set to open, these are under strict conditions that will make the experience of them very different. For instance, roller coasters are allowed, but screaming is banned. Pubs are open for business, but queues at the bar are not. The list, as you can read here, goes on.

Indeed in a nation already divided between 'corona-phobics' and courageous new-normal-ers, uncertainties can be expected. Some, like Nigella, may be keen to adhere to the 5:2 social diet of limiting interaction with friends, while others are racing to become the first on the school mumWhatsapp group to invite everyone over for socially-distanced pre-pub drinks.

But what Super Saturday has shown is that there will be a little benefit for everyone no matter what your preference.Heres all the things that were secretly looking forward to when the day arrives...

Lets be honest, it was always a little bit awkward. The procedure generally involvedfumbling around for cash (which none of us ever carried anyway), while our hairdresser pretended to look elsewhere. And then there was the etiquette: what constituted too little ('stingy, or displeased with the service') or too much ('too generous, could have bought a coffee with that later')?

Well Hallelujah, that looks set to change.While hairdressers are allowed to officially reopen on the 4th July, thats provided Covid-secure measures are in place including the use of cashless payment systems. According to a recent survey commissioned by Asktraders.com, two in three consumers would avoid tipping if they couldnt use cash. We're all in this together, right?

Linked to the above. While discussingour matted hair served as valuable small talk material through lockdown, let's be honest: it all got a bit repetitive. We know everythingabout next-door Sallys flyaway greys and are more familiar with Sarahs pesky roots than we are with our own. The social opportunities offered onSuper Saturday will provide us with an ample opportunity to generate new forms of small talk, and were absolutely fine with that.

By now, were no stranger to a spot of queuing. In fact, the pandemic has made us so accustomed to waiting in a spaced out single-file line that we will do virtually anything not to stand in one again which might be an incentive in itselfto visit a pub this Saturday. Under the new guidelines, leaning against the bar and awaitingyour order is out, and table service is in.

This means the end of all that tricky pub etiquette weve spent years grappling with. To push or not to push? To risk losing your place by giving way to someone carrying a tray of teetering tequilas; or to let them struggle and slide into place once they've departed?Now, the only thing you have to worry about is appearing sober after your thirdmojito. Easy, really.
