Andrus Peat reported to camp this year looking like a completely different man. The Saints 6ft7 offensive lineman weighed 316 pounds at the end of last season, but says he has shed between 10-15 pounds and looks phenomenal heading into his 6th season.

I really tried to put emphasis on that this offseason, really starting off with just the weight room and conditioning, said Peat. I feel like it's definitely going to be beneficial being able to finish blocks and sustain. And, just feel more athletic and feel better out there.

Peat was the 13th overall pick in the 2015 draft out of Stanford and has been a Pro Bowl selection the past two seasons despite battling a number of injuries. He is currently working his way back from a thumb issue that kept out for a good part of camp, but hes back now and on track to play in the season opener.

The slimmer-looking left guard says the most notable results from his weightloss have been more energy and feeling quicker. Whats been the secret to his success? Peat says he hasnt changed what hes eating, but is spending more time in the gym.

I started training right after the last game, Peat mentioned. I missed some time during the season and came back for the last game and a half; so I felt pretty fresh overall, besides my arm that I had surgery on. But, I would probably just say hitting it pretty hard right after, not really taking a break and just getting straight to it. Diet wise, just trying to make good decisions, but nothing spectacular.

Hopefully, a more toned body will cause the 26-year-old to be less injury prone as hes missed nine games over the last two years.

The Saints just gave Peat him a healthy payday, signing him to a five-year, $57.5 million deal this offseason. He is one of four starting o-linemen back from a year ago.
