CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. After a close first half, Boston College took advantage of UAlbany turnovers in the second half and went on to defeat the Great Danes 72-51 at Conte Forum on Tuesday night.

UAlbany (5-6) led 31-20 at halftime, as Cameron Healy scored 11 points and Ahmad Clark had nine.

Boston College (6-5) broke the game open with a 23-9 run to start the second half and finished with 30 points off turnovers, including 20 in the second half.

Turning the ball over 20 times on the road against an ACC opponent puts you in a tough spot, UAlbany head coach Will Brown said. And we got off to a bad start in the second half. When they got up seven or nine, and wed miss free throws, that nine quickly became 14. We labored to score in the second half. I think theyre pretty good defensively but I dont think we capitalized on our opportunities.

Healy and Clark were held to just two points each in the second half.

Jairus Hamilton led all scorers with 16 points for the Eagles, and Steffon Mitchell logged his eighth career double-double with 15 points, 13 rebounds and five steals. There were five lead changes and six ties in the first half.

BC scored the first five points of the second half before a Great Danes three-pointer cut the Eagles lead to 35-34 with 18:54 left in regulation. It was all Boston College from there, as the Eagles scored 11 unanswered over the next 3:19.

I was pleased with our guys as far as their execution of the scouting report, Brown said. We felt pretty good coming into the game that we would be able to guard BC in the half court. The biggest question mark for us was if we would be able to generate enough offense to win the game.
