Sometimes harsh comments can act as a blessing in disguise and something similar happened with 33-year-old Mohammed Ali Sondke. While he always had the realisation that he needed to lose weight to be healthy and lead a normal life, something always got in the way of his quest to lose weight. When working out for 11 years did not give him the desired results, he felt really demotivated and heartbroken. Duration it took me to lose weight: 3 months The turning point: I was working out for the last 11 years but I wasnt able to get the desired results and it was really demotivating. From not being able to fit into the clothes of my choice to getting breathless after running for merely 100 metres, the quality of my life had definitely gone for a toss.

However, it was only when one of my friends remarked that losing weight was not in my control that it hit me hard. I decided then and there that I will do whatever it takes to lose weight and since that day, there is no looking back.

Now that I have once again taken control of my life, I can count the people who stuck by me in this journey on my fingers. My manager Mr Hamada Hegazy always motivated me to lose weight and helped me stay focused. Even my friend Altaf kept me inspired to shed those stubborn kilos.

My workout: My workout routine is as follows:

I do weight training for 6 days. I also make it a point to do 30 minutes of cardio for at least 4 days a week. The exercises include cross-training, abs workout, core and sides workout.

Low-calorie recipes I swear by: I vouch on poha and oats.

Fitness secrets I unveiled: You must focus on both diet and training simultaneously to get better results. A lot of people make the mistake of sticking to just one of the two aspects of weight loss and fail to attain results.

How do I stay motivated? I have learnt how difficult life can become if you are overweight and unhealthy. Hence, I have made it a point to not deviate myself from fitness as I do not want to go back to where I had begun.

How do you ensure you dont lose focus? The very fear of losing the physique I have worked so hard to attain, keeps me focused.
